I forget all of the projects I've thought about doing..... Mike forgets about all of the projects he's already done!!!😂 You're a great inspiration to us all! Except for the forgetting.., Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks Mike, You awoke some trauma from my VocTech school days, Our Electronic Labs had a system where all the components were mounted on yellow plastic bases, wired to metal posts like upside down tube pins. The plastic bases had lugs that were pressed in to a perforated broad. All connections were done by blue jumpers with clips on both ends. We would build the assigned circuit, take test measurements, record observations and then have to tear the circuit we worked all morning down again.
Makes sense to me to recycle projects, you don't need or no longer have sentimental value, for the parts you can use in another project. That kind of happened to the 1st crystal radio I built 60 years ago, the adjustable antenna loopstick coil was used in some radio I repaired. Well I restored the crystal radio close to original with a similar coil, but with some improvements, last year.
Well, it would take me about 10 life times to build half of that! You've got a lot of great videos on here using all of this equipment. I wouldn't feel bad about taking any of it apart and making something new out of it, or even selling some of it and buying items for a new project. Take care Mike and a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Yes but I'm sure you had football and ate turkey up there. And thanks for watching my antics and project videos. I was born on the American side of the St. Lawrence just across from Brockport ON. Used to go to Canada for Chinese food.
I know some other folks have said this already: I wish you wouldn’t scrap some of those. I would buy them! I collect vintage homebrews. Entertaining video, Mike! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you for the journey! I could have accumulated tons of that junk from when I was a kid, but now the simplest capacitor goes for $50 on eBay... Modern eJunk, digital and microprocessors, surface mount stuff essentially can not be reused.
Yes, I find it hard to break up projects I have made. Even if I know I that I will never use it again. Of course, it is common sense to salvage the parts if they will be used for something else but its still difficult.
I'm even worse with equipment. If I'm not using something in the shack, it gets a couple of years, then it moves on. If I suddenly wish I had it back, I just find another one. No regrets!
A Dymo label maker would clarify the mystery of what all of these projects are. The red plastic label material would really stand out! 😂 Concerning the comment wondering who the young lady is in the opening of this episode is… that is a Niece of Mike’s and his XYL would appreciate it if all viewers would concentrate on the theme of this video and Mike’s collection of electronical apparatuses. 😅
Well thank goodness for that Mike, I thought it was just me who finds stuff and can't remember building it. My big mistake is often total lack of documentation, which means I often have to reverse engineer my own builds when they need repair or modding. Look forward to seeing all the fresh projects that you build out of the those scavenged parts. 73 Steve
Take the Black Beauty and ebay it to the “guitar tone cap” crowd for $50 and buy some quality Panasonic caps. 😅 Great selection of stuff you put hours into - but like you said, parts are harder to find than cash. Thanks for reminding me that clipboards are a decent source for front panels!
Nice video Mike! I also have a lot of finished and half-finished projects laying around, but not as many as you. Happy thanksgiving and 73. Shlomo 4X4LF.
If you get to a 2-Tube 40m Regen Receiver that’s destined for reclamation, I can make a home for that in exchange for some shopping funds for the next Hamfest!
OK OK I surrender. I will save two of the regens rather than recovering the nice parts. 1. The two Tube AM Band regen 12AT7/12AQ5 which is sweet and will beat any table radio, and 2. The NuTube Receiver rewired your choice 6BF6 Morgan or 12AU7 Twinplex. Email Me.
OK OK - define one tube. A simple Morgan with a 6BF6 triode for utter simplicity and accuracy to the book, one Pentode tube like a 6AU6 or a dual tube regen plus amplifier like a 12AU7 in a twinplex? They all use basically the same hard to get parts like the vernier, variable capacitor choke etc...so no real difference there , but the performance gets better of course with complexity.

Ha! Yes but some of these go back 11 or 12 years!

I had to take electric machines in college with scary bolted jumper connections to giant motor sets. Sparks flew and circuits popped in those labs!
Oh Mike, you've done it now... PLEASE provide more details of the one-valve AM transmitter at 8:10... 73 de M1GWZ

Thanks! And I'm eating my XYLs award winning crust apple pie.
I. am a Canadian so we had Thanksgiving a while ago. Enjoy yours for sure! Thanks for the video, it sparked a few ideas I mike try.

You are going to love the next project. Simple-X-Super Build.
Thank you for the journey!

Vintage parts especially are getting harder to come by. Happy Thanksgiving !!
"No whining!"
He heard me!
👍Thank you sir.
I would have a hard time doing what you are doing. You are a brave man! :-)

No fret for reclaiming parts from old projects! I've done it a few times - like the good book says "thou shall rebuild from the old waste"

I think the highest scrappable one's the Nu-tube! It's the most insane. The fun's in the building. Thanks for YOU, Mike! 73 es GB, Sam W3IHM

Thanks so much - had the harmonics home!
Siempre buenos proyectos.73.👍👌🏻
Can we have a moment of silence for our dearly beloved 😢
Happy Thanksgiving!
Same to you and thanks for watching!
Mike, more like Fibber McGee's closet to me! I can hear it now when you opened the door! 😂😂
Happy Thanksgiving to u and urs, N4NN
great video !
its always painful to do. but must be done sometimes. 73' happy turkey day

Happy thanksgiving and 73. Shlomo 4X4LF.
I just kept moving along and throwing them in the closet. Its only since I retired last year and things accelerated and really accumulated.

Several people are building the 2 tube 40m regen right now.
That was fun !
If only there was some UA-cam channel I could watch to identfy what all these projects did. 😂
I put some links in the description. The what's the best tube for a regen video is a good one too for this.

Who's the lady in the intro?
"Duh where are going Tennessee?" "We are going to visit Mr. Whoopie, Chumley"...
I read that in your voice doing their voices!
I'll donate a few $$$ for a one tube Regen radio

I would sell some of those items to fans in mystery boxes 📦and make little 💰73's🎙KD9OAM🎧📻
Happy Thanksgiving !
