Beautiful Castle and grounds. I was born in Texas, USA and did a DNA test. Always thought I was mostly English, French, and German. Turns out I'm A lot like 60% Scotch and Scandinavian. Might explain why seeing pictures of Ireland and Scotland and neighboring countries always made me feel like I was coming home!
I always am blown away by how much detail and excess went into everything back then. They made things as though they thought the materials would never run out (I'm sure that's just exactly what they thought too..lol)..fine woods, animal pelts, rugs, ivory, fabrics/tapestries, everything spared no expense..
Great video. Thanks for sharing. My 3rd Great Grand Aunt lived in Glamis Castle during the 1820's & 30's. She was married to Thomas George Bowes-Lyon, Lord Glamis the 11th Earl of Strathmore & Kinghorne. They are the Great Great grandparents of Queen Elizabeth II. I hope to visit Glamis Castle one day soon.
My great grandfather, James Brown Morrison, worked here as a gamekeeper in the late 1800's to the early 1900's. All but one child was born here. My grandfather, George Morrison, was one of the children born here. Wish I could post a picture here, my great grandmother, Mary MacKenzie Morrison, was invited to Windsor, Ont., Canada, to have lunch with the then, Princess Elizabeth, in 1951. It made the front page of the Detroit Free Press, she stands showing a trinket that the Princess gave her as a souvenir Would love to visit the castle and sign the book. :).
+windstorm1000 I would go if I had the funds. But, since my brain surgery, I've had to go on disability, and you only get enough to live on. So so hard to try and save to get there. One of these days maybe, but I'm turning 59 this year; and time is of the essence. So, I think you can understand my predicament :)
im from malaysia. our family lived in scotland for 3 years, and we've visited many castles. i was 5 and the only vivid memory i had in those 3 years is glamis castle. i hope to visit scotland again one day=)
I liked the daffodils, remind me of home. I thought the whole video was a rare beautiful treat. Playful classical, it is the root stalk of alternative punk and jazz blues. Cheers!
Glamis castle also has many ghosts and legends--including the mystery of the castle so horrible that all the Lyons men are sworn to secrecy about it. also one of the windows supposedly is extra
***** Having been there myself, of course I have my own photos. Being that it was 30 years ago, I had to take the photos in three different shots, just so I could get all of the castle in. Plus I have some long shots as well. Luckily, we were staying in St. Andrews for three weeks, and also luckily, there was an inexpensive store in town that developed the film, so I didn't have to wait until I got home to do it. :)
I don't know to upload the photos, or else I would. Also, the photos are 'buried' in the closet under a pile of boxes. (sigh) A much needed winter task to get to them...
Lovely images. Still images. Perhaps we're naïve, but one expects a UA-cam "video" to include moving images. We can all find similar lovely images of this castle in a library book. But of course we wouldn't have the chamber music in the background.

How impressive! Angus used to be Ogilvy property ? My wifes forefather was Patrick Ogilvy from Dundee who fought in Germany and then settled in Sweden
Its nice, certainly for a 17 centuray castle, personally i like more the Neuschwanstein castle because of the extremes, but may Mad Ludwig got his inspiration from castle like this one in scotland.
My great Grandfather and mother is a King in Queen in scottland and we live on a Another castle my great grandfather and mother was born in 1876 and 1882 Years they live on that castle and we live on a Another castle too and we have dungeons and we have pools now and the castle is super big
England and Scotland has full of Haunted castles and Mansion's. Creepy and interesting in the same time. I Really want to see in this Huanted Castle in live :)
I've beeing there with my husband, who's Scottishi, and have tryed to make pics and video, but they didn't allow me... I loved your video... thank you so much for this... Eliane, from Brazil
hey dude, I am a resident of ancaster and saw some creepy stuff at the hermitage that really relates to your video. I would really to ask you questions about the ancaster hermitage video you made, please msg back, thanks
+Harsha Weeraratne the connection is probably remote but there--her family is the Bowes Lyons--many of the clans were connected--we need a clan expert to unravel the connection, if any.
My family ancestors come from the Kings of Ireland in the 1300s. I have always liked castles. Just NOT MONARCHY RULE or Dictator rule ! Very Evil, No Freedom and no better morals than the rest of mankind. That is why our Forefathers gave us the Constitution, Bill Of Rights and FREEDOM so we would not have to live under the THUMB of Monarchy Rule or Dictators. No Freedom there. What is with the heavy music ? A pretty castle though.
I did a quick look up of lyn ells and it seems your ancestry is directly linked and associated with sanitation. It seems your ancestors were diggers and dorrows of dung heaps.

Your so full of it, I can smell it as I read it. My ancestry goes as far back as Charlamagne and the Legend of Roland.

+Michele Morrison you should go!
+Michele Morrison thank you for sharing--fascinating family stories in connection to this wonderful castle. I want to go to Scotland for sure.

Have you thought of creating a go fund me page? You sound like you have a legitimate claim to the throne.
Michele Morrison Amazing family link to the late Queen Mother.
Looks like castle straight from a fairy tail book. Amazing!
thank you! The home of the QueenMother is truly awesome.Exactly what a castle should look like.
Cheers !!!

The Queen Mother certainly had humble beginnings....
Beautiful video, a good choice of music. Thank you for sharing it!
I have been looking for the longest time, for my ancestors castle...Glamis was one of the Castles of MacBeth....
Your ancestors, too. It's a small world.
Glamis castle also has many ghosts and legends--including the mystery of the castle so horrible that all the Lyons men are sworn to secrecy about it. also one of the windows supposedly is extra
Can confirm- Lyon men get into whacky shit. The window is cursed by the soul of a young lad who froze to death within the walls, standing gaurd
Any idea where the "Monster" was walled up?
That castle is a place i would love to settle down and grow old.
I love the music!
I want to know about the sealed off room that Prince Albert Victor was kept in !
I wish you had not used so many duplicate views - the video would have been so much better if you had more inside photos also
I wish I could have found more!
Cheers!

Where the Queens mother grew up, pronounced Glams .
Wonderful! Thank you for so beautiful vídeo!
Wonderful castle!
Thank you The SpectralReview!
Awwe ty :)
So beautiful
Wasn't Glamis where Macbeth killed the King?
The music had a heavy sorrowful theme to it, which echo's the haunted lore of this historic place. Well done.

How is it that so many people are associated with this castle? Sounds like a tall tale to me.
Beautiful!
Beautiful photos. What song is playing in this? Thanks!
There should have been bagpipe music in the background ! ;-)
Thank goodness that there wasn't! Soothing string quartet vastly preferable!
Its nice, certainly for a 17 centuray castle, personally i like more the Neuschwanstein castle because of the extremes, but may Mad Ludwig got his inspiration from castle like this one in scotland.

there is only one mention of Macbeth in the comments; people are scared to even mention the name. How come Queen mother is related to Macbeth?
+Harsha Weeraratne the connection is probably remote but there--her family is the Bowes Lyons--many of the clans were connected--we need a clan expert to unravel the connection, if any.
What is wrong with you?
Check this Hudson, QC home on a 1 acre land. $550,000 CDN.

Does no one recall the connection of Glamis to Macbeth? Who cares about the Lyons!
who cares about the Lyons?? my guess would be just about everyone in Scotland and a large amount in England.. that's who
It's an impressive pile but I don't think the high drama music fits.
segura2112 You're 100% right, I'm going to change it.
Thanks for noting this!
Cheers!
It fits if one remembers that this is Macbeth's Castle.
TheSpectralRewiew-What is the name of the original music?
Este castillo es un sueño , maravilloso saludos
