@Lij Shaw - I think it's important to tell people that you do in fact need UA hardware to run the UA Distressor plugin. Specifically UAD-2 hardware - firewire & thunderbolt Satellites, PCIe cards, rack cores, and the legendary Apollo audio interfaces - The Empirical Labs Arousor plugin on the other hand does NOT require UA hardware but it does require you to have an iLok 2 or 3 USB protection key. I truly love the Distressor/Arousor, it's an absolute must-have for your production arsenal! Thanks for the upload.

Oh yeah, it’s awesome, if you have an overpriced UA interface with overpriced plugins. Why they didn’t make this as a general native plugin for anyone that would like to use it, is beyond me. I definitely can’t say this is a good business decision, as they have limited themselves to only anyone that has a UA interface.

UA has a ton of experience successfully emulating hardware at a very advanced level, so if they only had the in-house resources to develop one plugin, it makes sense that they'd dedicate those to the new thing (Arousor) and let the experts emulate the Distressor.
@@NeonPLotus Of course they say you need to buy both but I'd just get the Arouser then. Free updates for life it appears. It's extremely similar. I do have a UAD satellite too, got a good deal on it. I have mixed feelings about their approach to plugins but it is quality stuff. But the Distressor is only $99 for Black Friday. Pretty good deal if you have the hardware.
This is my go - to plug-in. Used on Batman, Pokemon, HBO Disney and 800 more. Dave and emperical labs rock.

That’s why the Arouser plugin is so great. No need for the UAD hardware. You get the same awesome sound in any system. 👍
