Absolutely! Every song written comes from the heart and soul of someone... she has the unique ability to be able to find the soul in the words of the song. Even more important she feels it and you feel it just by listening. That is the mark of the best musicians and writers.. I’ve been playing music since I was 11 and am 74 now and still playing, writing and listening. To say I am impressed is an understatement. I rarely have goose bumps and tears listening to music but I have both with Angelina most every time. Love A Million Miles and her book... I pray everyday for her and hope she stays on the path she’s on now and not follow some of our supposedly talented singers. I could and do listen to her everyday. She is so calming!!! When you can shut down the voices in a huge auditorium Of screaming people as she did in AGT Simply by raising a mic to your mouth you have power, so much power!! A singer like Angelina doesn’t need filthy lyrics, a screaming voice, or Dirty dancing half dressed!!!! All she needs is a Mic and a stool, a piano or guitar and the people will come and listen and feel the real power of music!!!!

The problem with all performers on AGT is the limited amount of time allowed on the stage. So when you have a song with “rhapsodies” the majority of the song can never be sung. 🌺
Angelina is still finding her true self, her true voice and of course the song that will define her for generations to come. With her Norwegian, Swedish, Iranian, and Japanese background she needs to tap deeper into something larger than the Anglo-American tradition - and I sense she is doing that as she matures and undergoes life-experiences that she will interpret as only she can.
These three performances constitute three pieces of anthology. The latest of her exceptional recent performances. « I put a spell on you » was one of her childhood. Another unique performance when she was 9-10 years old: « Back to Black », black and white version. This time, she was simulating Ami Winehouse's performances, but as usual, in her own way. The peculiarity of this cover, she modified certain passages of the lyrics to make from this “fokkative” song a “trippative” song. These modifications was her work. So young, so brilliant, truly exceptional!

Beautiful marathon of wonderful music! Angelina participated in AGTC aware that she probably would not have won (for many reasons), but that this show would have given her a very high evidence and popularity, addressing an audience that up to that point did not know her absolutely. The of her were furthermore exceptional and extremely personal, unique interpretations, a great business card for a 13 year old girl 🤗 ❤️
Hi, she has a few up beat songs, she picks what she wants to sing and arranges words and music she said once that she knows what the songs are about because she knows English very well she also knows 3 other languages she is very intelligent and a genius. Thank you for insightful, in depth analysis. In answer to your question " is she old enuff to know what she's singing"? the answer is a resounding " yes!" But at a visceral level that many other performers don't reach---California Dreaming, Stay, Autumn Leaves,. Born to Die, Back to Black to name a few. She doesn't so much sing a song as channel the composer's state when writing the song.
The golden buzzer sends the contestant to the live finals without having to do further sing offs. The thing is in these contests you are limited to a couple of minutes so you have to cut down the song.

I definitely understand your ''concern'' for Angelina's age & subjects she may treat in her songs but are we ever concerned with adults signing about subjects they have never lived through when they do a cover or when they sign a song written by others? No, we simply say that they made it their own, as Angelina does.
Yes, I agree with you, sometimes those old jazz/blues songs do have very dark lyrics: too much for a 7-8 years old. But... when the judge asked Angelina what 'Gloomy Sunday' was about, Angelina responded with 'about a bad Sunday'. When she wanted to record 'Back to Black' when she was 10 her mother was not ok with that, because of the young age of her daughter : Angelina did change the lyrics, her version is almost a sad love song, and than it was recorded. And although I am a complete outsider it feels good that there is also good care about the songs she choose to sing: first looking what the song is about and no hesitation to change it so it fits Angelina. The special fact in this is to me that Angelina most of the time writes the new lyrics her self, as she does with most of the musical arrangements. And about the music she sings/write: Angelina has told in an interview this 'When there had not been Billie Holiday in the past there was no singer Angelina Jordan today'. So my guess is that she will remain the very gifted jazz/blues singer in the future as she is today. But... never say 'never', time will tell.
The third song she sang was designed to draw your attention from her talent. Simon failed to sign her and it was her final performance. The visual artist, although amazing, broke the spell. You reacted just as expected. Simon got his revenge. I like your vids of Angelina. .

Nonetheless, these performances were wonderful and I have enjoyed them numerous times. I think having a graphic of her face from when she was on NGT was not only inspiring to her at the time, but for any young woman who sees what a significant amount of effort can achieve.

It's incredible, however controversial, because AJ and her team does not seem to want it published.
Watch her original, Seventh Heaven, for something very different. It’s upbeat jazz with an infectious beat, and it shows that Angelina is one of the best (in my opinion, best) jazz singers today. Or watch her at 11 giving the crowd gospel-like vibes with “Something’s Got a Hold on Me”. Or either of her versions of Feelin Good show a completely different genre. Regarding your comments on Bohemian Rhapsody-the reason you got goosebumps is that Angelina re-defined the song into a ballad that expressed the sorrow and melancholy of a desperate person. The upbeat chorus you wanted to hear wouldn’t fit there, and also as important, the time limits on AGT performances wouldn’t allow it. I think both Bohemian Rhapsody and Yellow Brick Road show Angelina letting go with full belting that gave you those goosebumps. Im not sure what you’re looking for, but Angelina is not the singer who gives us extremes to show off her voice. I think her choice of those two songs and her arrangements and interpretations were two of the best vocal performances I’ve ever seen.

How about a disco song, "I will survive"? There are plenty to choose from, if he looks for another style or genre from Angelina. She just cannot be pinned down to one genre, but of course she favors the more jazzy and bluesy style. That seems to be in her blood.
A few things. According to other fans, her family has resisted the Simon Cowell machine. Think about the selection of this song, it's meaning and why the tee-shirt. She is definitely going her own path. Next she has had a hand in all her arrangements since NGT. There is a video of her thinking through Summertime with musicians at eight. At nine she has a jam session with musicians reworking Screamin Jay Hawkins wonderful and complex Portrait of a Man as Portrait of a Child. Very clearly she is an equal partner in that. Finally, as to children and emotions. Youngsters are incredibly empathic, picking up on things around them. AJ is clearly that. She listens to things over and over, feels the emotion and channels it through her own experiences. Heartache is heartache, regardless the source. This young lady is the epitome of multicultural and has seen a lot. Remember the shoeless little girl? Remember her charity work? Remember her singing at Nobel Peace Prize concert? There is a story (perhaps apocryphal) about why she chose Gloomy Sunday. About a sleepless night and her mom being worried. I tend to believe it. Set aside the musical talent, this girl is a remarkable human being.
I think from what I remember reading elsewhere that the Yellow Brick Road song was chosen for her by AGT. So that would make a nonsense of this line of thought. But I am open to being corrected by somebody who knows the truth and not by somebody who just thinks they know the truth.

With the Golden Buzzer she moved right to the finals. The tee shirt she wore was a creation of her and her grandma and yes it is her face and merch you can buy! Heide and Angelina have maintained a friendship outside of AGT! Angelina finished around 6th. If you want to hear some different Try "I Have Nothing" "The Show Must Go On" and "Born to Die. Of course there are probably another 130 videos out there. I believe she also has 5 originals and 2 songs she was asked to sing on.
This is my opinion about the experience Angelina Jordan had at America's got talent. After her first two auditions, I believe AGT understood that Angelina could easily come out on top if she had performed the 3rd attempt without the other two contestants. By Having all 3 contestants perform at the same time AGT knew

It's my (perhaps questionable) understanding that contestants on AGT are limited to about 2 minutes or so for each round. So, you won't hear full versions of songs. Exception in the case of performances such as Angelina's and the other two performers' showcase performance (with the sand art). AGT Champions additionally is a special case, in that participation was by invited winners (and perhaps placers) in various countries' and years' regular contests. For Bohemian Rhapsody you may notice all of Angelina's family (except her father?) in the front row behind the judges.
Great reaction. Your selection of the AGT versions was perfect... often other reactors miss the judges’ comments in their entirety (it’s enjoyable to relive those moments). As to the “sameness” of Angelina’s music... your comment is a fair one, but based pretty much on only what you’ve heard. Her “wheelhouse” is definitely classic jazz, but you will understand what we mean when you hear her do country/pop (Miley Cyrus cover of “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart), or EDM (Electronic Dance Music - “Above The Water”), and many others. Angelina has some very smart people looking out for her. In my opinion AGT already knew she would not sign with them if she won. If one actually listens to the words of the song - It is a good bye song - she is saying good bye to Simon’s offer and therefore there was no possibility of her winning. She used the show for a million dollars worth of exposure to the world she would direct her own career. I believe she came in 5th (which is unbelievable) Who knows how the voting was done and who the voters were.
The Yellow Brick Road cover was actually a jazz arrangement done by Sara Bareilles and compared to her version, AJ sang the sh*t out of it. I've said it before, that last verse has to be the most beautiful expression of the words "horny back toad" ever sung, lol. What is wrong with having a distinctive style? But, if you think she is not versatile you have not really dipped into her repertoire which is over 170 strong. She is gong to make anything she does jazzy. I suggest "Feeling Good"-- the one with the full band inside (she is in white dress), and look at her latest, Suspiciaous Minds," (By the way I'm sure AGT chose the "Someone You Love," due to the other contestants performing with her).
There is absolutely nothing wrong at all having a distinct style. In fact, as I've said, I would consider her a living authority in the jazz style, even from an incredibly young age. But my point is counter to those who say she is the most versatile, woman with 100000 voices, etc. From what I've seen, she has 1 very amazing and impressive voice. She takes many songs from all different genres and brings them into her arena, not the other way round.

If you want some slightly crazyier stuff from Angelina, check out "Lovin you" from proysenfestivalen. Also, there's the "It's a mans World" with the norwegian military orchestra. Both of them are live concert recordings so the sound is so-so, but she comes through clear enough :)

It means they go straight to Hollywood.... I really think it hurt her because she didn’t get to sing as many songs and was out of the public eye and the voters only had seen their own country’s winners. This was world wide, all the countries that did Got Talent.
When Angelina got the golden buzzer it means she skips straight to the finals. Angelina didn’t win, but if they let her rip the arse out of a couple more songs in different genres she might have unstoppable.

I totally agree. My parents watch it and I had the same question. How do you compare the 2? I've come to the conclusion that it's 50% talent and 50% the background story that makes people connect emotionally with the artist
When i heard AJ sang B/ Rhapsody and yellow Brick Road, she got me ...... hook, line and sinker. That songs was from my 80's generation.yet her modern arrangement of the songs still make it them more pleasant to listen to.....i love her version.... and her voice is so so beautiful....thànks✌

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Secondly, at Norways got talent, she was a 7 year old singing songs about depression, suicide, cheating, marital problems, etc. Even the judge asked her if she knew what the song, "Gloomy Sunday" was about. My kids have walked around the house singing tons of different songs, and I know full well they didn't know what they were about. Do you really hold to the opinion that a toddler/infant (you said any age) has a perfect understanding of the world around them or does it only apply to the infallible Angelina Jordan?

Do a little research. Angelina has covered oodles of songs in a wide variety of jazz and other genres. When she was younger, there are videos of her doing James Brown, It's a man's world" "something's |Gotta Hold on Me," Whitney Houston, Shirley Bassey etc. She has preferences, but she's far from stuck in in a single style. She always kills ballads, though, so maybe those get recommended more. I dunno. :)

I’ve been playing music since I was 11 and am 74 now and still playing, writing and listening. To say I am impressed is an understatement. I rarely have goose bumps and tears listening to music but I have both with Angelina most every time. Love A Million Miles and her book... I pray everyday for her and hope she stays on the path she’s on now and not follow some of our supposedly talented singers. I could and do listen to her everyday. She is so calming!!!

The problem with all performers on AGT is the limited amount of time allowed on the stage. So when you have a song with “rhapsodies” the majority of the song can never be sung. 🌺

Angelina is still finding her true self, her true voice and of course the song that will define her for generations to come. With her Norwegian, Swedish, Iranian, and Japanese background she needs to tap deeper into something larger than the Anglo-American tradition - and I sense she is doing that as she matures and undergoes life-experiences that she will interpret as only she can.
These three performances constitute three pieces of anthology. The latest of her exceptional recent performances. « I put a spell on you » was one of her childhood. Another unique performance when she was 9-10 years old: « Back to Black », black and white version. This time, she was simulating Ami Winehouse's performances, but as usual, in her own way. The peculiarity of this cover, she modified certain passages of the lyrics to make from this “fokkative” song a “trippative” song. These modifications was her work. So young, so brilliant, truly exceptional!

Thank you for insightful, in depth analysis. In answer to your question " is she old enuff to know what she's singing"? the answer is a resounding " yes!" But at a visceral level that many other performers don't reach---California Dreaming, Stay, Autumn Leaves,. Born to Die, Back to Black to name a few. She doesn't so much sing a song as channel the composer's state when writing the song.
The golden buzzer sends the contestant to the live finals without having to do further sing offs. The thing is in these contests you are limited to a couple of minutes so you have to cut down the song.

Yes, I agree with you, sometimes those old jazz/blues songs do have very dark lyrics: too much for a 7-8 years old. But... when the judge asked Angelina what 'Gloomy Sunday' was about, Angelina responded with 'about a bad Sunday'. When she wanted to record 'Back to Black' when she was 10 her mother was not ok with that, because of the young age of her daughter : Angelina did change the lyrics, her version is almost a sad love song, and than it was recorded. And although I am a complete outsider it feels good that there is also good care about the songs she choose to sing: first looking what the song is about and no hesitation to change it so it fits Angelina. The special fact in this is to me that Angelina most of the time writes the new lyrics her self, as she does with most of the musical arrangements. And about the music she sings/write: Angelina has told in an interview this 'When there had not been Billie Holiday in the past there was no singer Angelina Jordan today'. So my guess is that she will remain the very gifted jazz/blues singer in the future as she is today. But... never say 'never', time will tell.
The third song she sang was designed to draw your attention from her talent. Simon failed to sign her and it was her final performance. The visual artist, although amazing, broke the spell. You reacted just as expected. Simon got his revenge. I like your vids of Angelina. .

To show another, very different side of AJ, I recommend "I am still holding out for you", which she recorded at the age of ten. The video is leaked by a fan. It's incredible, however controversial, because AJ and her team does not seem to want it published.
Watch her original, Seventh Heaven, for something very different. It’s upbeat jazz with an infectious beat, and it shows that Angelina is one of the best (in my opinion, best) jazz singers today. Or watch her at 11 giving the crowd gospel-like vibes with “Something’s Got a Hold on Me”. Or either of her versions of Feelin Good show a completely different genre.
Regarding your comments on Bohemian Rhapsody-the reason you got goosebumps is that Angelina re-defined the song into a ballad that expressed the sorrow and melancholy of a desperate person. The upbeat chorus you wanted to hear wouldn’t fit there, and also as important, the time limits on AGT performances wouldn’t allow it. I think both Bohemian Rhapsody and Yellow Brick Road show Angelina letting go with full belting that gave you those goosebumps. Im not sure what you’re looking for, but Angelina is not the singer who gives us extremes to show off her voice. I think her choice of those two songs and her arrangements and interpretations were two of the best vocal performances I’ve ever seen.

A few things. According to other fans, her family has resisted the Simon Cowell machine. Think about the selection of this song, it's meaning and why the tee-shirt. She is definitely going her own path. Next she has had a hand in all her arrangements since NGT. There is a video of her thinking through Summertime with musicians at eight. At nine she has a jam session with musicians reworking Screamin Jay Hawkins wonderful and complex Portrait of a Man as Portrait of a Child. Very clearly she is an equal partner in that. Finally, as to children and emotions. Youngsters are incredibly empathic, picking up on things around them. AJ is clearly that. She listens to things over and over, feels the emotion and channels it through her own experiences. Heartache is heartache, regardless the source. This young lady is the epitome of multicultural and has seen a lot. Remember the shoeless little girl? Remember her charity work? Remember her singing at Nobel Peace Prize concert? There is a story (perhaps apocryphal) about why she chose Gloomy Sunday. About a sleepless night and her mom being worried. I tend to believe it. Set aside the musical talent, this girl is a remarkable human being.

I think from what I remember reading elsewhere that the Yellow Brick Road song was chosen for her by AGT. So that would make a nonsense of this line of thought. But I am open to being corrected by somebody who knows the truth and not by somebody who just thinks they know the truth.

With the Golden Buzzer she moved right to the finals. The tee shirt she wore was a creation of her and her grandma and yes it is her face and merch you can buy! Heide and Angelina have maintained a friendship outside of AGT! Angelina finished around 6th. If you want to hear some different Try "I Have Nothing" "The Show Must Go On" and "Born to Die. Of course there are probably another 130 videos out there. I believe she also has 5 originals and 2 songs she was asked to sing on.

This is my opinion about the experience Angelina Jordan had at America's got talent. After her first two auditions, I believe AGT understood that Angelina could easily come out on top if she had performed the 3rd attempt without the other two contestants. By Having all 3 contestants perform at the same time AGT knew

It's my (perhaps questionable) understanding that contestants on AGT are limited to about 2 minutes or so for each round. So, you won't hear full versions of songs. Exception in the case of performances such as Angelina's and the other two performers' showcase performance (with the sand art). AGT Champions additionally is a special case, in that participation was by invited winners (and perhaps placers) in various countries' and years' regular contests. For Bohemian Rhapsody you may notice all of Angelina's family (except her father?) in the front row behind the judges.
Great reaction. Your selection of the AGT versions was perfect... often other reactors miss the judges’ comments in their entirety (it’s enjoyable to relive those moments).
As to the “sameness” of Angelina’s music... your comment is a fair one, but based pretty much on only what you’ve heard. Her “wheelhouse” is definitely classic jazz, but you will understand what we mean when you hear her do country/pop (Miley Cyrus cover of “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart), or EDM (Electronic Dance Music - “Above The Water”), and many others.
I hope you stick around to react to more of her videos. It will be a long but enjoyable journey.

What is wrong with having a distinctive style? But, if you think she is not versatile you have not really dipped into her repertoire which is over 170 strong. She is gong to make anything she does jazzy. I suggest "Feeling Good"-- the one with the full band inside (she is in white dress), and look at her latest,

There is absolutely nothing wrong at all having a distinct style. In fact, as I've said, I would consider her a living authority in the jazz style, even from an incredibly young age. But my point is counter to those who say she is the most versatile, woman with 100000 voices, etc. From what I've seen, she has 1 very amazing and impressive voice. She takes many songs from all different genres and brings them into her arena, not the other way round.

I totally agree. My parents watch it and I had the same question. How do you compare the 2? I've come to the conclusion that it's 50% talent and 50% the background story that makes people connect emotionally with the artist

When i heard AJ sang B/ Rhapsody and yellow Brick Road, she got me ...... hook, line and sinker. That songs was from my 80's generation.yet her modern arrangement of the songs still make it them more pleasant to listen to.....i love her version.... and her voice is so so beautiful....thànks✌

I turned 79 today and I question YOU on questioning anybody's understanding at any age. I'm sure I do not understand your reasoning, but then maybe I'm loosing it.
First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Secondly, at Norways got talent, she was a 7 year old singing songs about depression, suicide, cheating, marital problems, etc. Even the judge asked her if she knew what the song, "Gloomy Sunday" was about. My kids have walked around the house singing tons of different songs, and I know full well they didn't know what they were about. Do you really hold to the opinion that a toddler/infant (you said any age) has a perfect understanding of the world around them or does it only apply to the infallible Angelina Jordan?

Do a little research. Angelina has covered oodles of songs in a wide variety of jazz and other genres. When she was younger, there are videos of her doing James Brown, It's a man's world" "something's |Gotta Hold on Me," Whitney Houston, Shirley Bassey etc. She has preferences, but she's far from stuck in in a single style. She always kills ballads, though, so maybe those get recommended more. I dunno. :)
