I am amazed at that laser level! I couldn’t imagine how it was going to work.😊

What a beautiful landscape around the water wheel, the bridge crossing was toe curling to watch, but so worth it.❤

I think that the stone wall cleaning is as addictive as the power washing one.👍😂

🤣 it wasn't as addictive in slow time! Haha. Very tedious!

Always good playing with new boys toys but the digging looks pretty hard work. I followed your tip & got a load of the olive sacks for render rubble & they work a treat 👍 Keep up the good work

Pleased the tip has helped 😅 hope all is going well over there too! You've arrived for the good weather that's for sure 😊

You can establish a datum along the wall and measure down with a metre rule to the level you need at the threshold, then use that same distance down to level the floor dig.

I don't know what future plan you have in mind but, after seeing quite a few renovations of stone houses, maybe you should consider digging deeper and placing a subfloor layer of Leica balls. If you research it a bit yourself you will find that they help keeping the moisture off the floor and walls. If you see interested you can see "atelier Mavi", "make do grow" and "raising voyagers" where you can see them applying it and get help for you future plans. Great job so far. It is sad that you don't have help.

I don’t understand why people don’t do some research when they have to tackle new things 🤷🏼‍♂️but it was hilarious to watch.🤣

Thank you! This is something we've been looking into definitely 😊 we just need to account for the fact the road outside will potentially be higher if we dig too deep...

Definitely recommend Make Do Grow, they used a laser level whilst doing their floors.

      @bobdobbins229 7 місяців тому

Unless you are planning on having a dirt floor you WILL need to dig deeper. 4 inches of concrete and 4 inches of stone with a 6 mill polyurethane vapor barrier. That does not include any insulation.

    • @PortugalonaPostcard
      @PortugalonaPostcard  7 місяців тому

Thank you 😊 we are looking into options but for now the priority is to level the floor as is so Michael has a base to work from for floor joists. We're going to focus on getting upstairs habitable then try and tackle these underground rooms as they'll be the big challenge! 😅

    Thank you very much
    God bless you both 🙏🏼🙏🏼🥰

Just wanted to say how gorgeous the house is looking. I didn’t see it at the start, and I’m not that keen on schist, but when you uncovered the walls they are gorgeous! Can’t wait to see more.

I tell you what Michael, like you I don't know if that's how its supposed to be done but I have to tell you mate that's f'kin genius the way you chased the laser to the walls to give a more level floor.
All the very best from Scotland (the home of heavy rain 🤣)

Wow!! I hope it is as satisfying for you as it is for us viewers. Lovely to see the level line receding as you chip away. Nice walk, amazing. It is a bit sad to see so many eucalypts as opposed to native tress but, thanks for sharing anyway. Cheers.

I’m sure i'm not the first to say, but get some blimmin power tools!
'Oh nooo, it’ll damage the structure and fabric etc'
Not if you're in control my son, you’re a chipmeister extraordinaire, just feel the moves of the mechanism.
'Nah, we’ll have a couple of hours…get this done'
    Really?
'Yeah, Becky's gone for a poo again, a couple of hours'll see her done!'
TMI, but I was wondering where she was…
    'Yeah, too many oranges'
    M'kay
'Was that you, or me said that?’
    Dunno! Tbh.
Well how about having couple of tens of minutes instead of a couple of hours ?
'Doubt she’d be up for tha tbh,,she’s right fond of her poos'
I meant chipping render off the walls you nob!
Nah we’ll be reet! I time my brews with Beck's poos
Omfg. I only commented to get an SDS.
Nah, I’m from Yorkshire so I’m not only frugal but my bumhole PSI unintentionally stops cash machines dispensing at 50 yards, it’s a problem for all Yorkshiremen tbh. Plus we’re skint. Becks? Where’s me brew lass? it’s 2 pm.
    Prrrp.
    😂
