Can i just say, as a mother of two girls, im learning so much from you that i would have never been able to learn. You just dont realize the impact you have on someones life sometimes. Its beautiful. I had a working mom. Her career was her life and she brought it home with her. She didnt have time for teaching us anything. Barely had time to talk. She didnt even like being home and was always screaming about something or tearing our rooms apart just looking for trouble she never found. So i just wanted to take the time to say thank you for sharing everything you know with us. Your kindness and love comes through this phone screen. Im sure theres many of us out here that just needed someone peaceful in our life to just take a moment of their time to want to show us how to take care of things. So thank you so much.
Howdy and great video 😊. Two years ago I made a vodka and rum vanilla extracts. The rum won hands down. I did not like the vodka. I used Bacardi clear. I liked it so much that I decided to make a quart and lost my mind after seeing a video of Vanilla Pura raving about a high end rum named Kirk and Sweeny. Their rums are aged from 12-24 years. I spent over $50.00 for the 24 year back in February. It will sit for 2 years. I hoped that I wouldn’t regret the investment. I actually did a video of me making it on my channel. Anywho, my sister and I did a 6 month taste test in August. We put a few drops on vanilla ice cream to test. Guess who is going to buy another bottle of that $50.00 rum to start a stagger batch 🤣. At only 6 months the taste of that vanilla crossed my eyes. I will be sneaking into it at Christmas time because it is actually ready to use now due to the smoothness and flavor. I already know that I am not going to be able to stay out of it, so I am starting the new batch. 😊❤. ua-cam.com/video/lpcBoc9d68A/v-deo.htmlsi=6yon2Mb-yHj6uWxe
I made my vanilla extract for the first time last year, I was so happy about that, I give as gifts, it's still infusing so by this year end it'll be great, I have nowhere to grow things but I go natural as much as possible.
You don’t have to use expensive vodka. I tried bourbon last time. Brewed it for 2 years just started using it recently. To tell you the truth I didn’t notice a difference when I used it to bake. But I do love the spiced rum version! Happy extracting!
Great video! I've only ever used vodka when I make it BUT that spiced rum sounds like I need to try that 😍 Vanilla is one of my favorite tastes and smell of all time!
I’ve made extracts with both alcohol, rum specifically, and glycerin. I like the more pure/ neutral flavor of using the vegetable glycerin but love the shelf life of the alcohol based ones.
I Rushed the process a bit 30 minutes in a instant pot. I sure can water bath. Will try the Svenska vodka since it's not too strong. I'm a Captain Morgan rum user. I like the sweetness. Yum!! I tried a different rum that was cheaper. Went back to the Captain.
Too funny I used the same vodka when I made mine. I just came here to see if you did anything different than I did. I used a brown glass bottle that’s the only thing I did differently.

Spiced rum extract is delicious
I love black seal rum I was going to try using that I’ll make spiced rum too since I have that rum here as well. Why not. 🤷🏽♀️👍🏽
Perfect timing! I bought some beans and I wanted to make vanilla extract. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing. Yes, it helps to use an alcohol you like the taste of.
RUM
Thank you so much for your wonderful information! You have helped me so much, I’ll try pretty much whatever you tell us!
How do you make the lemon extract. I'm going to make my own
Same method I skin the yellow peel off the lemon, get as much of the white peel off
@@BlacksTropicalHomestead thank you

Good day to all.

Hmmm would like to make apple and orange lollipops. Can I make apple and orange extract?
Hello family, i’m going to ask my sister to make it because she loves to bake. She lives in South Carolina now and that’s all she does is bake.
Sherry, i don't use alcohol or Liquors. What can i use as a substitute?
She said on the video if you don't want to use alcohol you can use Vegetable Glycerin but the self life will be shorter. Hope this helps.
I hope you were able to fare well through the storm
❤
I used that brand of alcohol last year when I made my vanilla.

Beautiful it's so much fun making extracts
