Have lived in Uzes for 9 months, just 1 minute walk from the main street restaurants in the video, treasurable memory, people were so nice, either be friends or strangers in the street, went to dinner in friends apartment by that lovely square...
France is so diverse depending on the region, I've visited quite a few places and reckon I have barely scratched the surface. Uzés is a beautiful little gem seemingly locked in a time warp. Watching this video brings back some great memories for me. Maybe I'll visit you again soon, Uzés. By the way, If you have not been here, the videographer hasn't just picked the best places and put them together, the WHOLE place is as you see in the video.
Beautiful film, it brings back memories of our trip in this area of southern France. It was in June 2016, we had dinner in Uzes, in a restaurant right under one of these arcades. From our table we faced the central square. We had a wonderful time!!! We recommend indeed!
I go once a year, as do my parents and as did my grandparents. It is a most wonderful mediaeval town. Has got a lot more tourists recently which has caused house prices there to fly sky high.
The title of first peer of the kingdom, making the Duke of Uzès the first lord of France, was attributed to Emmanuel I of Crussol, 3rd Duke of Uzès, by the King of France Louis XIII in 1632, after the execution by decapitation at Toulouse of one of the greatest lords of the time, the Duke of Montmorency governor of the province of Languedoc who rebelled against the king. The Duke of Uzès had to sit permanently at the King’s court and was entitled after the death of the King of France to proclaim the ritual formula "The King died, long live the King" marking the continuity of royalty. Anne of Rochechouart of Mortemart Duchess of Uzès (1847-1933) She was the first woman in France to obtain a driving licence for a car and was known to have supported and financed several plots at the end of the 19th century to overthrow the 3rd republic and to try to restore the monarchy thanks to the"support from General Boulanger.
You need to be an artist, you’d go crazy living there. I suppose you would have the time to learn something, maybe reading a book. Why does everything begin 2000 years ago?
En tant que française je suis contente de découvrir le patrimoine géographique et historique de mon pays merci beaucoup
