The empty luggage for stuff to bring back is the pro tip. We actually ended up filling a packable duffel, another suitcase, and ended up using our stroller bag to carry more stuff! Japan is the best :)
When I went to Italy, we shipped home all our dirty clothes to save suitcase space. We didn't want to risk shipping souvenirs! We also packed cheap undies and tossed them each day. No carrying home dirty underwear 😆
We are going to Japan in March 2024 and we plan to just carry 2 backpacks for our family of 4 since we will be moving every 2 days. We plan to just buy a new luggage in japan on our last 2 days to bring back.
When I was 12 I went to summer camp with the YMCA and met and friended Japanese girls. We came pen pals and I wrote to them for many years. I lost contact with them when I got married. Time passed and the Tsunami hit Sendai where they were from. It made me want to look for them. I found one on Facebook and friended her. To this day I still haven't gone to Japan. I have dreamed my whole life of going. I'm 47. I cried watching your video because I felt like I was with you.

As soon you starting posting vlogs about Japan I started screaming, crying of excitement! My husband and I have been watching every video of yours, soaking in all the Japan culture to get ready for our exchange student when she arrives in August. You guy’s literally landed as I left Japan. I definitely have to say I was definitely not believing I was going to Japan until I was in Japan so can relate to Kitra saying she won’t believe it until she is there and being nervous.

Let me tell you something: Watching your plane take off with the music reminded me of something I often do now whenever I take off. Before the flight I download the Rocketeer on Disney+, I press play when the plane starts pulling out. I pause right before Cliff Secord takes off (when he puts his goggles on). I hit resume when my plane starts charging down the runway to take off and... I don't know. That music score, with physical speed, felt powerful.

Shinjuku brings me back. Just seeing you standing in Kabuki-cho brings me back to my first time 🥲. Convenience stores like 7-11 or Lawson's as well as the Vends were life blood for me when I was there. I even pause scrolled Peter's list and saw Happy Pancake and Parco Mall so that's a great time. I can't wait to see the rest of the trip! Glad you had a blast! 2 Fun facts: 1. You can go Go Karting in Shinjuku on the roads. 2. The fake food is called shokuhin sampuru, they used to be made of wax before plastic and there are a lot of collectors who have entire collections of this stuff!

We had some apple tea soda at Disney off a tap but I think it was a different company

The fake food is called shokuhin sampuru, they used to be made of wax before plastic and there are a lot of collectors who have entire collections of this stuff!
That fake food is an art. Also we didn’t get to 1/4th of the stuff I had on that list unfortunately 😔 but only a reason to go back
