Rough English Translation of first paragraph
the one whom you have granted the madness of love
you have made them great within the universe
you created from candlelight, the moth [which swarms around a candle, symbolising the lover]
and then you allowed it to get scorched from the heat of the candle [meaning ruined in love - irony]
when grief was nowhere to be found
you planted the deeds, friend, within the heart
the misdeeds of the lover became sufficient grief for the heart. [In Urdu ghazal symbolism pain equates to pleasure]
While we are all appreciating Greenwood for "freshness", the genius here is how he's retained the soul of Sufi in this track and the entire album in fact. A fine blend of both Shai Ben Tzur's Sufi songs and Rajasthan Express' qawwali. And an emphatic nod to the universal genius of Sufi music. Fucking respect for Greenwood more than anything.
