This is some Myst kind of stuff, where you spend so much time just figuring out what to do, and then the dopamine kicks in once the pieces come together. I can't remember if GPB did any playthroughs of the Myst games, but they could be entertaining.

btw the symbol numbers are in base 5. dot and then the different rotations of the L piece are 0-4, then its top line for 10 + the middle symbol. right line for 20

This reminds me of a game I played called "12 Minutes" where you're a guy trapped in a loop, but you retain the info you learned from previous loops, so you're able to solve the puzzle eventually after you go through it however many times it takes you

Fez is a classic puzzle game that's renowned for EXTREMELY complicated and well-hidden solutions that revolve around shifting the game's perspective, translating a fictional language and counting system, and finding controller input sequences hidden in the environment in devious ways.
Makes sense this would be Poobear's immediate reaction upon the game greeting you with a door covered in strange symbols right out the gate.
