- Quick test and review of #Ancel VD700 OBD2 scanner, designed to support Audi, Seat, Skoda, Volkswagen and other VAG cars. Great tool to help you out with regular maintenance and service. With its help you can easily reset oil and inspection reminders, release parking brake to replace rear pads and rotors, calibrate steering angle sensor, force DPF regeneration, and register new battery in #VAG cars.
This device can also perform a full scan to look for fault codes in every module installed in the car. For this review I'm reading and clearing Golf MK7 front camera and gearbox fault codes.
#VD700 will not let you change control module coding value. Adaptation channels are limited to ones that are related to inspection reminders. This means that the device can not restore old code in new control units after replacing them. But also there's much lower chance of making the car unusable due to improper use of the device.

I have used the tool with our 2013 Passat for resetting DTCs, reset service light, battery adaptation, running the fuel pump after changing the fuel filter. I have checked the parking brake release, and at least heard it wind back so that should be OK. I will soon do a DSG service, and found that you can monitor the transmission oil temp on channel 19 of the transmission control unit. Very happy with the tool.
Your thoughts on vd500 vs vd700 considering the vd700 is twice the price.
I bought the FST32 from the Scanz brand for VW group vehicles. Looks exactly the same in the menus and outside case but my device is orange coloured. Good little unit
Will this scan tool also perform BMS resets/battery registration on BMW & Mini vehicles? Or is that feature just for VW's and Audi

I had the same iasue with incorrect transmission fluid temp showing about 50c below what it should be. I updated the software on the VD700 to 1.5 and now it shows correct temp.
Hello, I need to view the transmission temperature (live data). I saw in the video that you attempted this and received an inaccurate reading. Have you been able to revisit this and can you confirm or deny the accuracy of this product's transmission temperature reading. I have an Audi A3 TSI 2008 and I need to perform a DSG service. Hear hear, Joshua M! ATF temperature for an upcoming fluid/filter change on my 2011 Jetta is half the reason I'm looking for a VAG tool. The issue received only cavalier dismissal in the video (7:25).

My needles got stuck on my car so I had to buy new ones and now it indicates 380.000kms and my car only have 143.000 ,I have it frow new .
With the VD700 could I change the mileage? It is only on the diles.

I noticed it only showed the VW symbol. What if you have an Audi? Will it give you full access?

This depends on your actual needs. You can consider something like XTOOL, OBDeleven, Carista, VCDS... Personally I'm using OBDeleven for couple years now and I'm like 8/10 happy with it.
I´d like the air recirculation I set to be remembered and not off every time. I learned it can be done accesing:
1. Module “08 - AUTO HVAC”
2. Long Coding
3. Byte 4
4. Bit 4-‐5 - Set: “10 Recirculation Air Settings (after Ignition Cycle) stored”
5. Default: 20 Recirculation Air Settings (after Ignition Cycle) Timer Based”
Can I do this procedure with this device? If not do you know of any devide that allows you to get it done?
This device does not give you free access to coding and adaptation channels. Only to selected ones that are maintenance related.
But check my review of OBDeleven ua-cam.com/video/stJUCg9cLbc/v-deo.html with PRO license it can do what you want and more.
Excellent, thorough review. A few questions though. Have you compared VS Autel MD802? Also as asked below, if plugged into another VAG Vehicle (Audi, Skoda, Seat) does it display 'For Audi' etc..? Thank you.
I don't have the Autel MD802 but I have Autel MaxiCheck (my quick review: ua-cam.com/video/Fdv4tMSikdA/v-deo.html ). What I understand is that MaxiCheck is an extended version of the MD802.
Autel devices have wider range of supported cars but narrower functions. For example only DPF procedures but in all vehicles.
Ancel VD700 is targeted only at VAG cars but can do little bit more with them.
I don't think that there's a separate 'Audi' mode etc... Most likely it will be VW mode for all VWAG cars.

Hi, have you had checked "Component Protection"? It just popped up in my Skoda. Now the dashbord is blinking and an airbag-failure shows up. is the VD700 able to deactivate the issue?

Does this reset airbag light on vw?
It sure can. Of course you need to read the fault and fix the issues first. But when you are done, you can use this to cleat the fault code.

Mirror link, CarPlay, AndroidAuto, voice control, performance monitor, drive modes - these are SWaP features (SoftWare as a Product) and require FeC (Feature enabling Code) to be bought from VW. Getting them working is not as simple as just changing coding with diagnostic tool.

I'm pretty sure that it can not. it only can remove the mirrorlink in motion lock but you need to have mirror link option active in your car first.

Will it prime the fuel pump on a 2014 Passat TDI? I saw that there was a diesel selection.
I just changed my fuel filter in my Jetta TDI I did not fill the canister i went to to VW / basic settings/ Diesel options then you should see 3 options the last one says run fuel pump you go through the steps and it runs the pumps . I'm not sure if it cycles them 3 times I just waited about a minute for each cycle . I hope this primes the system . It doesn't tell you any detailed info so I would say I believe it does.
Won't turning the car on (but not starting the car) a few times achieve that? It does on my B6

Hi, thanks for the great review. I've never owned an OBD reader before & find the many variations quite confusing. I'm looking for one that can read my BMW & also my wife's Audi. I was looking at the Ancel BM500 for my BMW & this one for the Audi. Do I really need both for the two cars, or can one unit work on both cars? I really want the function that registers new batteries for both cars as quite handy I think.
Hi, when doing the EPB Reset command using this scan tool, after retracting the calipers, do you need to keep the key turned on to accessory mode while replacing brakes? Or can you turn the key off, then turn it back on again when you're ready to reset the EPB? Thx!
I believe that the procedure allows you to turn the ignition off while performing the replacement. That's how it should be for Golf MK7.
Hi, just like to ask if anyone has used VW special functions for injector adaptions.
What does this actually cover, can you code in new injectors after replacement?

It lacks vehicle info and USB printable ECU errors to be a great device, I didn't like having a camera to photograph the errors, having USB I thought it was mandatory to have an error report printable from the PC, I was wrong, it is a good device but it lacks that function, cheaper devices have that function, there is even a space on the screen to enable that option, I don't think they will implement it, if they didn't do it in four years I don't think we will see that function in this vd700

le falta info vehículo y errores ecu imprimibles por usb para ser un gran dispositivo, llevar una cámara para fotografiar los errores no me gusto, al tener usb di por obligatorio que tenia informe de errores imprimibles desde el pc, me equivoque, es buen dispositivo pero le falta esa función , dispositivos mas económicos traen esa función ,incluso esta en la pantalla el espacio para habilitar esa opción, no creo que la implementen , si en cuatro años no lo hicieron no creo que veamos esa función en este vd700

Other than these 8 special function I don't see anything else that could be done, including option to prime the fuel system.

This has been asked in amazon.com two times(fall 2019) and in both cases Ancel team has assured that it can do it.
I bought one for this purpose and used for the first time today. It's under a folder for diesel. It runs the fuel pump for 3 x 60 second cycles passing 5 litres of fuel. You can hear the pump running and the fuel running through the fuel filter. Hope this helps.
@@SM-iq1fv Thanks for that info 👍 Do you think it would tell me what’s wrong with my ‘08 A6. It’s either an injector or EGR fault (I think), but now the glow plug is flashing! Difficult to start.. misfires then white smoke. Afterwards it idled ok but now it’s in limp mode.. 😩😩

Went to buy this off of Amazon. Looked a little closer and the one they're selling is a chinese knockoff masquerading as the real company. How can I be sure to buy the real thing?
I have no experience with such. Maybe try to update it with firmware from the Ancel website? Knockoff should not work with it.
I had the vd500 and the vd700 looks like a big improvement.

Hi. I have the VD700 Pro but I cant change from EFL to AGM-Battery Technology at a Seat Alhambra 2017 Model. I only can change Battery capacity and Manufacturer.
Not sure if that's the tool or car limitation.

I Think the latest VD700 have this Limitation because Even in the Manual they write that only Battery Vendor and capacity can be changed and even Ancel Support only answers that battery technology cant be changed! Very interesting in the one year old video above!

I have the VD700 and cannot seem to view a dtc that occured during driving (2006 Jetta TDI (BRM)) the glow plug lamp came on briefly as the engine stumbled, it was very cold -44C in northern Canada, the glow plug lamp did not stay on though, when i checked for codes there were none listed, should not there be history DTC stored for the incident ? If so will the VD700 only read current DTC ???

Can you register a new battery for the Stop Start?
They claim that it will register new battery but I didn't had car for suitable for this procedure at that time.

It will but only with basic OBD2 stuff like engine faults and check light reset. You don't need this tool for that.

Is your van operating at 12V? As far as I know this device will not work with 24V cars.

The one other question can This unit change the start stop feature so that it is normally off ie car does not stop at the traffic light unless you tell it too

This device doest support that kind of function! You need vag com. Vcds will allow you to do loats of different things with the car.

I believe that "Special functions > service reset" will do it. Also you can do it "manually" in the module 17 (Instrument Cluster) > Adaptation.
