The Book of Mark - 3rd Quarter 2024
LESSON #11
This week’s lesson focuses on Mark 14, beginning with the fifth Sandwich Story, which interlinks two opposite actions in relation to Jesus. This is followed by the Last Supper, followed by His struggle in Gethsemane. There He is arrested and taken before the leaders to be tried. The trial scene is linked with Peter’s denial of Jesus, forming the sixth and last of the Sandwich Stories in Mark. Again, two opposite actions occur, but by an ironic twist, they affirm the same truth.
Throughout the narrative, two contrasting story plots march hand in hand. In a crisp style, Mark sets before the reader these clashing plots while revealing the triumph of Jesus.

Thank you, Pastor Crews for this insightful teaching.
Thank you Aron. I really appreciated your lesson presentation. I learned from it and it has deepened my love for Jesus. Dianne, South Africa
Jesus went through a total farce of a trial. The Sanhedrin, the body responsible for a proper, legal and fair trial, broke every rule for a proper trial. Jesus knew it. His disciples knew it; many of the observers knew it. Yet Jesus did not complain. He went forward with the trial for He knew the hearts of the wicked RELIGIOUS RULERS. They had tried to kill Him many times before in His three years of ministry. Jesus then appealed to His Father, to let the cup, the bitter cup pass, adding, if it were possible; nevertheless, not my will but yours be done. Well God's will was the salvation of humans and this was only possible if Jesus give up His life on the cross.
Shortly after this He stretched out His hands and let them nail Him to a cross. They pressed a crown of thorns onto His head. They nailed His feet also and drove the spear into His sides. But He scarsely felt the pain. His heart was so broken with the agony of the sins of the whole world on it. O, what love! Amazing love. How do you respond to Jesus' amazing love? Please don't let His suffering be in vain for you.
