This women is such a rare example of grace, elegance, education and professionalism. She's the best actress ever to me. She deserves everything. I really hope she could live forever.
We all were hoping so, unfortunately she passed away yesterday. In a certain way, however, she'll never die, she'll always live in our memories and our hearts ❣️
I'm crying .... it's enjoyable to watch Angel Lansberry play a role, and it's even more so enjoyable to listen to her just speak to us. There are very few talented people who are also gracious and humble.
It's kind of amazing (in the bad sense of the word) that she is actually NOT what they call an EGOT - meaning someone who has an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. I believe she has an honorary Oscar, and of course many Tonys - but no Emmys, Grammys, or Oscars for specific roles.
She is one of our true survivors, now 95. She has worked with the best of many Judy Garland, Charles Boyer & Elvis Presley just to name some. She is a fine actress who didn't let the glitter of Hollywood spoil her ego.
A genuinely lovely lady and a consummate professional. She left us with so many great memories and it was lovely she earned a DBE which I think was well-deserved. She's still chilling with the other greats who've left us. Goodbye 👋 Dame Angela RIP ❤ 😊
I did as a child. She was going into the stage door at the Music Box Theater in New York. She was so charming and gracious. I met her again as an adult at a small party after a benefit. She is truly a gift to the world.
I know this award has nothing to do with Murder She Wrote, but when I've seen Angela accept awards it often reminds me of Jessica Fletcher accepting one.
Is this her first Olivier? I wouldn't be surprised it it was. Her stage career, although started in the UK, was really on Broadway. Broadway is really her stage world.
@@originalhellchild Yeah, my mistake. I didn’t realise I commented something like this though, I would’ve deleted it otherwise. She won awards in London for her performance though.
@@fergusmurray1828 Thinking about it, I'm actually surprised it got to be 2009, and Angela got to be 80-something, before someone thought of making her Madame Arcati. She did the role in the US and won a Tony in 2009, prior to this British performance. But I felt like she must have played the role before that, and I feel that way partly, I think, because her Madame Arcati attire is a little like her character's in the Death on the Nile adaptation she was in. And the stage directions in Blithe Spirit actually say that Madame A can be a range of ages.
People are speculating that Lansbury is Les Moonve's tongue-in-throat victim. Murder She Wrote was an unqualified smash. But JoBeth Williams had a short-lived series based on the movie The Client. Could the Poltergeist have gone down HER throat? More important, I saw Lansbury in this role in NYC. She was every bit Margaret Rutherford's equal.
Except, of course, Angela Lansbury is a legend of American movies. It is Hollywood where she got her break at age 19 (while working at a Los Angeles department store). And the US is where she made her career, both in Hollywood (movies and TV) as well as on Broadway. As she has said, she considers herself American first.
To Dear Mrs. Lansbury Dear Mrs. Lansbury, Cara signora Lansbury, I’m writing to give you a delicate thought , to instill in you the same serenity that I receive every day watching your interpretation on TV “Murder, she wrote”, in Italian “The Lady in Yellow”. le scrivo per rivolgerle un pensiero delicato, per restituirle la serenità che mi trasmette ogni giorno rivedere la sua interpretazione ne “Murder, she wrote”, che in italiano ha il titolo “La Signora in giallo”. Elegance, composure, determination, intuition, kindness …. Elenganza, compostezza, determinazione, intuizione, gentilezza…. Congratulations, dear lady, really compliments. Complimenti, cara signora, complimenti davvero.
It does and it did. I am from the north of England and have lost my accent, except when I go back. but this is how she has always spoken in private. her public persona became so huge in the US that she adapted her accent and, I think, on purpose: to be understood. often in the US people ask me to repeat what I say, so it's easier to adopt American pronunciation for certain things than keep saying the same thing than have people laugh at you. she adapted to any situation; she never lost her charm, grace and humility. long live queen Angela
Angela Lansbury unquestionably deserves the award, but "Madame Arcati" is NOT a "supporting role"! She is the female lead in "Blithe Spirit". "Ruth" and "Elvira" are supporting roles.
Angela passed away yesterday, but in a certain way she'll never die, she'll always live in our memories and our hearts ❣️
Angela Lansbury deserves all the awards in the world! She could live forever.
She is awesome indeed, never boring!!:)
Apparently and allegedly and even rumor has it she will live until 114 which will be amazing
She died today. This is NOT a joke.

For me (as a foreigner), one of the two last great actresses from the golden era of the British cinema: Dame Maggie Smith and Dame Angela Lansbury.

It definitely seems like they billed the play that way when Dame Angela was playing that role...she was definitely top billing.
Wasn't she the cute member of the Beatles and calls herself Paul McCartney sometimes?
lmao we got a Ferguson fan here! :D
No, she gets that all the time! Shes Jessica Fletcher, the famous murder mystery author! HAS THERE BEEN A MURDER?
Yess i love murder she wrote ❤❤
It took them long enough to stand.
Her accent is very British here. 🙃
But.... did she solve the murder.......
