@@PumaArg biologically that's still subjective... beauty is literally always subjective. there's no way around it because human brains are far too varied to have any massive ideologies that everyone will accept at any given point. people don't even all THINK the same way. For example, some people can actually visualize whatever they're thinking about, even if that thing is abstract. Other people literally can't see images in their head. They just... think. And that's hard for people who feel colors to understand. The only thing objective about human sexuality is that it's all subjective.

@@PumaArg it's funny you say this because the media characters that become internet boyfriends are almost always skinny. watching early reality tv really makes you realize the microaggressions and baby racism towards minorities. Like of course a 6'3 black man is not going to touch or comfort a crying little white girl, a man, in general, would be hesitant to do that

  • @averyeml

Ooof, that “boy” moment is fucked. He even put the cartoon southern accent on it. He also specifically knew that out of “boy” and “family” which CJ both complained about which one he needed to change first.

Good point! I'm from the South and know not to use that word to refer to Black men, but I like to give others the benefit of the doubt, but seeing you point this out tells me it probably wasnt a mistake.

The Southerny accent on "boy" was noticeable & caused a reflexive cringe on hearing it, but I would not have picked up on how quickly he changed his statement to just replace "boy" to be less pointedly offensive. That's a hell of an observation to pick up on to really lay out the racism that guy was leaning hard into.
Also crazy that the black guy was painted as the show's "chaotic" or even "villainous" role there - at least today would have the benefit of social media to immediately correct a producer-engineered narrative like that.

love the acknowledgment of identity and safety when it comes to doing "good" deeds. As a single woman, I'd be pretty scared being approached by a tall, guy way stronger than me who is talking in a weird way and invading my personal space. I also think the show doesn't really differentiate between "niceness" and "goodness." A lot of the smaller tasks like taking a photo for a stranger are "nice" and "polite," but don't automatically make you a good person. They tell me nothing about someone's kindness or moral fiber, because moral fiber doesn't make for solid tv.

That test was WAY out of line imo. No woman (or man lbr) would feel comfortable in that scenario.
Also why would you approach a crying little girl on the street, who you don't know and who doesn't know you??? It's called "stranger danger" for a reason. Call the authorities or something. I mean if the kid was hurt in some way sure, approach them to help, but otherwise you might just end up scaring them more cuz you're a stranger.

Once on holiday a lady asked me to take a photo of her, but when I had trouble with her camera and asked her to show me how she just yanked it away and stormed off. The jeans thing is so weird. It makes me wonder if the people running the show had somebody steal or move a contestant's jeans any time they needed more conflict.

How could they gaslight CJ into saying perception of beauty is SCIENTIFIC there is nothing that could be more wrong! Even if they want to apply metrics to physical beauty their entire show is trying to say that isn’t the whole picture. He’s absolutely correct and they’re trying to say beauty isn’t up to opinion because then they wouldn’t have a show

I wanted to watch this but I wasn’t allowed because Vanessa Lachey was in it and my older sisters hated her for “what she did to Jessica Simpson” which is funny to think about now but thank you for making this, I can live vicariously about watching it through your hilarity ❤️

The ONLY moment I remember from this show is the pregnant lady one, and that challenge has haunted me for YEARS. Every so often, I just consider that moment and what the "right" thing to do would be!!
My mother constantly said it's wrong to question a parents decision what to do with their kids b/c it's none of your business, but she also raised me in an extremely abusive household so I sometimes think 'of course she'd say that, that doesn't make it moral'. But on the other hand there is some truth to it. I don't know why that woman would be smoking. What if she's a recovering drug addict and the only way she could pry herself away from drugs was smoking?
And even if an assumption that's she's just selfishly hurting her child for her own enjoyment was true, how would me confronting her change that??? Like genuinely? Me calling this woman out as being a bad person for smoking while pregnant is NOT going to change her worldview? There's no way she doesn't already know smoking is bad for her child, so even taking the charitable route of asking if she's aware what she's doing in the most polite way imaginable would be insulting???
    It HAUNTS me.

Sending a message that a person should be polite to other person even though he/she is not comfortable with it, or has a bad feeling about it is VERY dangerous. If I was approached by that man with a sentence "everything can happen in Vegas" - like what??
