Oh so glad to hear you speaking and explaining your beautiful work - there are crafts and there are artisans.. You are a true artisan. I know I gave you a hard time about the speed paining and no teaching but thank you for stepping out of that box. I hope you do it a lot more. I will comb through some of your more recent videos to more wonderful tips.
I have paints and silk for 3years in my closet and I was scared to start mostly painting on canvas and paper Your videos gave me that push that I needed to start I can’t thank you enough
Yes, you would have to use something like Resistad water-based gutta to create your outlines. Since you will be working with a heavy silk, I would encourage you to test small samples first to see if the gutta works,
hello and good morning to u Mr Baptiste i want some help do u have any vid on how to add gold or sliver glitter to the gutta i have a carnival costume to do in silk but i need to line it with glitter before i add the setasilk paint
I do not work with matelic guttas, but this looks like what you would use. www.deserres.ca/products/gutta-water-repellent-barrier-for-setasilk-pearl-gold?variant=39389883596933&gclid=Cj0KCQjwi7GnBhDXARIsAFLvH4noUrhdJN5iR5IvgaVWO5mk-85hldOfFSFNZsd9o5U5b2aPswgnV28aAmteEALw_wcB
Absolutely love your work! I am wondering where in the states I can get a big bottle of the diluent for Dyna-flow, Jacquard and Setasilk paints. The shipping from G&S is prohibitive, and DharmaTrading does not seem to have it...at least not under the name "diluent". There are very small bottles of Setasilk "whitening". Thank you, Sir, for your guidance!!! Happy painting!
Thank you Daniel for telling me to work with water first before I place the dye on the silk, it works so much better and I do not use too much dye and I have tried also used dyna flow also with Setasilk. its so much prettier.. yes a little works so much better than using a lot of dye too.
Hello dear very nice work..kindly tell me about the diluent and is it necessary to steam in silk painting.?what r others way to fix the color Kindly reply as I wanna learn it to do it professionaly

In your technique did your fabric becomes stiff after painting? I saw that after using fabric paints or silk paints the piece of cloth looses it's smoothness and becomes stiff .can you guide me why ?
Daniel can you please share on how to mix resist so it makes a very fine line mine spreads on tiny details or is it a thickness of the silk ? Please advise thank you
Hello sir being a fashion designer I very curious to learn about this silk since 5years but this technique isn't available in our country. Sir plz help me I need to take a class.
Hello Jean-Baptiste, I really liked this video it helped a lot but I have a question about how you fix the dye into the silk, do you put it through vapor or some other method? Another question is have you used the green label silk colors by Jacquards and are you able to mix these with other dyes? Thank you
I am happy the videos are of help to you. I work with Pebeo Seta Silk paints which cure upon drying but can be ironed. I have not worked with dye for over 20 years and so I cannot give you any advice on their use.
Hi , Loved your work a lot !! it is very inspiring indeed!.I want to start doing silk painting but where do you get a frame to stretch the silk? I am from India. We get frame for canvas only and the wood is very hard types. Plus what kind of clips are used to stretch the silk? Please let me know ....
Hi Poornima, the silk stretcher is homemade, just make sure that you use a softwood which allows for easy pinning. I am thinking about making a video on building a stretcher.
Where to find these colors? Are these regular fabric colors? Or it is only for silk material? And please tell that where to find brushes that you showed in this video.thanks a lot for making this video 😊,God bless you dear.
Hi I am looking for that technic where the silk is wet with starch , and then one uses a mix of vodka , alcohol and something else to wet the silk and then paint, do you know it?
Hi Daniel, your art is beautiful! I am just starting to learn to do silk painting. You mentioned you use a mixture of water and gluten before adding your color. Is this mixture for paints only? I have seen people use water and alcohol but is that only for dyes? Some don't use anything to blend their colors, only water. I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to blend without getting that hard edge. Can you buy the water/gluten mixture? Thank you!
Hi Kathrine, thank you for liking my work. I use a diluent and water mixture for my wet on wet technique. This is the product www.gsdye.com/product717.html
Thank you for all the information. I am just getting into silk painting. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent with us and taking the time to teach us the fine details we need to know as beginners. Could you tell me where I can buy the brushes that you use?
I found a way with silk painting to change some colors from clear to white, by adding some paint, not dye to the fabric and it works so well. I use Setasilk which is really PAINT but if flows like dyes, it works so well with dyes even though its a paint, I simply use it with my dyes to make a flowing soft color like Pink, or baby blue or light orchid. its so wonderful but it does not come out soft like other dyes do but its just as good to do also.. just a suggestions..
It's good to stay in touch and sometimes check back on basics, I also from time to time add a drop of washing up liquid in a second bathing after washing out the paints from my brushes, or alternatively use plain soap such as coconut or olive based, the oils act just like a spa treatment for your fines hairs on your brushes.
I’m so glad I found this channel!
Thank you, glad that you liked it.

Alligator clips wid rope are available?
You have to get the clips from an electrical store and the cord from Walmart and build it yourself.
Thank you so much for your fabulous tutorial and inspiring art
Do i need to do an outline with like a malibu border to contain the paint? I am looking to paint flat and direct on heavy silk
Yes, you would have to use something like Resistad water-based gutta to create your outlines. Since you will be working with a heavy silk, I would encourage you to test small samples first to see if the gutta works,
Thank you so much. I am planning to use a dyenaflo or a seta silk as it leaves a light hand and no hassles of steaming. @@DanielJeanBaptiste

All silk paints have a stiff finish, if you want a soft feel you need to use silk dye.
