There was a remake of this game in 2010 on Nintendo DS, it was called River City Soccer Hooligans. It's pretty bad though. Personally, I think some games are perfectly fine as is.
They also called this Nintendo World Cup, unless that was a prequel to this game. It's such a shame that Technos or Atlus didn't make this as a series of games. Winning Eleven and FIFA need some competition and with the sequel of River City Ransom/Kunio-Kun under way, coupled with the current World Cup, this would be the perfect time to have a full soccer game with moves like this and a soccer/European football/footsie/etc. match that would go in real time. What do you think of my idea?
Nintendo World Cup is an international version of Nekketsu Kōkō Dodgeball Bu: Soccer Hen, which is a prequel to this game. The sequel is much better. And yeah, that's a shame they don't make games like this anymore, it's so much fun.
