For all of you who are comparing Spacey to Plummer, just remember that Plummer had no time to prepare for his role, absolutely no research, did not watch Spacey's performance or the trailer, and did all of his shoots in nine days. And he was 88. He deserves enormous credit for what he delivered.
Yes, well said.
Are people criticizing his performance? I thought he was outstanding. Way better than Spacey could have been (who’s a phenomenal actor despite being a horrible person… Plummer just seems much more suited for the role)
Christopher Plummer MADE the movie -- in my opinion.
Well he was a real actor, he was educated and learn the craft. He wasn't just picked up on tik tok
@@lilybond6485 truth!! The last of a dying breed.
The trailers were so proud about casting him. They were like "Yeah, we got Kevin Spacey!" *Mic drop*
Can we get this cut now?
YES PLEASE
Chris Plummer: hold my beer.
Chris? Bit familiar.
I can't be the only one who wants to see the spacey version?
Yes
I know I would. Probably a tour de force performance. What a shame
You are not.
I want to see the Kevin Spacey version.
Now that kevin spacey has been proven not guilty, will they hopefully release the original cut?
“proven”
@@irishmanrants89proven.
Let me put it this way: for example, hypothetical, one lady sues Bill Cosby for sexual assault. It was put on trial but Cosby was acquitted and cleared of any wrongdoing towards one woman. Does that automatically exonerate him from all of his many accusers?
I was looking forward to watching this movie but when Kevin Spacey was removed, i never went to theathers and never will i ever watch this movie without Kevin in it.
RIP Christopher Plummer
Yup
Nooooooooo I just searched It I can’t believe it
If any of you take the time to read up on the old man, J Paul himself, the movie is spot on pertaining to his miserly ways towards family. He was so tight that if taking a shit cost a nickel, he would throw up first.
I have read about Jean Paul Getty including his autobiography ' As I see it '. His son ( kidnapee's father ) was a hippie who did drugs.
His grandson collaborated with the kidnappers initially to get money from his grandfather. These guys got money from a trust fund Getty's mother had for them which was managed by Getty and grew because of his involvement.
Wealthy people don't become wealthy, nor stay that way, by throwing away money idiotically.
He absolutely shouldn't have paid the ransom. America has a "no negotiation with terrorists" policy for a good reason, if you give in and pay one ransom you're gonna be paying a lot more for the rest of your life
He was that tight he woke up each night to see if he lost any sleep 😅
With all respect to Plummer, I would have loved to see Spacy in this film. He is a great actor.
Mong
@@micheline8190 - Well obviously not if he got caught.
Mr Sir He didn’t get caught, he was exposed by his victim.
The charges have been dropped now
@@johnarindale7603 since the rumours have been flying about his abuse for years, i'd say charges being dropped mean nothing
Is it just me or does Kevin Spacey in this look like Craig T. Nelson? Lol
Nailed it! He looked so familiar! Lol
Wow,,He's back!! 👏👏👏👏 Whatever has been said about Kevin Spacey you cannot deny his talent, which is unquestioned..
I love this song and this trailer so much more than the new trailer.
It really feels like an entirely different film. And a better one, at that.
His prosthetics were ludicrous and would have been a distraction. Getting Plummer in ended up doing the movie a service.
Yes!
Remember when Ridley Scott cast Guy Pearce in Prometheus as a decades older man that Pearce was? This is similar. Don’t know what they were thinking, in either films.
He actually does look like JPG in the prosthetics. They CAN be a distraction since you know it's Spacey underneath, but the look is very close
I still want to see the full version of this film with Kevin Spacey at J. Paul Getty! Even though the Christopher Plummer version was pretty good!
Same. But I’m pretty sure Ridley Scott deleted all of Spacey’s footage, well except the one where he exits the train
Almost comparable to the Sonic trailer now that I think about it...
I love this trailer, especially the end where you finally hear Getty speak, and then the increasingly heavy, echoing footsteps as he walks away.
I have to admit, I'd still like to see the Spacey cut because of his acting abilities and the fact that they made him look pretty similar to the real Getty.
But I'm not holding my breath for that to happen.
i agree
Spacey was exonerated, I want to see the Spacey cut too!
@@morningwavesI think Ridley Scott warmed up a lot towards Spacey, kinda treats him like a troubled son now. When he recently spoke about Napoleon, Austerlitz and the emperor's intuition and career, he spoke about Spacey and his legal victories and his intuition, it was quite obvious the way the trailers were constructed. When he spoke about Napoleon's lack of "social grace" and his "dark side", he spoke about Spacey or... to Spacey really. So I think it all depends if Spacey will develop some "social grace" now and lighten his dark side.
It would have been nice to include one more version with Kevin in the Blu ray
One day it will be released and make more money for the studio.
@@chrisasimopoulos4106 Yup when the woke people have finally destroyed society,
Can I have version with Kevin Spacey ?
Yeah I want to see with the Kevin spacey version too.
John Kwak thumbs up for baby driver!
The dude's a diddler. Not gonna happen
Matt Seiter and? Still he is a great actor. Hope one day someone gonna leak version with Kevin Spacey.
Looks like Frank Underwood is doing well for himself
That old man makeup on Spacey was so unconvincingly awful. So glad they got the late Christopher Plummer to do the scenes over.
I watched this film and I still want to see the Spacey version.
I think it would be a good idea to release a Kevin Spacey Cut as a bonus feature for whenever the Blu-Ray comes out. Despite recent events, it looked like Kevin just put in so much effort into a performance to be wasted.
This man wasn't the rich man in history especially when your currency is toilet paper
Not even top 5 john d rockeller is the wealthiest man ever ever three times richer then jeff bezos at his height basically a nation state as a man.
@@sallydavies9253 I think Musa keitai was the wealthiest man to ever lived.
How the hell did they ever cast Spacey anyway?? Pummer was perfect !
Nautilus1972 Ridley Scott wanted Christopher Plummer but Sony forced him to cast Kevin Spacey
I hope they do release Kevin spacey version sometime in future
Bollywood Gupshup me too
Maybe on the DVD "extra"???
Or as a leak
Deep fake it now that would be interesting but would take a long time
Don't hold your breath, bucko.
Man I want to see the Kevin Spacey version...that stern voice and that walk. Felt like Christopher Plummer winged the whole thing...although at 88 years old I think he did a fair job.
He did wing the whole think. And it I his faults for accepting to do the role in only 9 days. Final cutting was horrible. This trailer with spacey was battery than the cutting we got...
Wow! My personal opinion, Christopher Plummer was the better choice. 😮the guy didn’t even need makeup to look older.
Tracy Choate you're a fucking idiot
that‘s because he is old 🤦♂️
Tracey Choate: The character they both were playing was in real life 81 yrs old. Christopher Plummer is 88 years old, Kevin Spacey is 59 years old. If you don't want to do the math: hat is 30 years difference darling!
well, is NOT about looking YOUNG or HOT, is about the CHARISTMA or TALENT to portray a character(you probably have no idea of this if you are not aN artist), otherwise there are a ton of Victoria Secret Models who will do a movie for the looks or a ton of "HOT GUYS" from Calvin Klein who could too
Exactly. Plummer played it very naturally and effortlessly
I have great respect for Christopher Plummer. But I would love to watch the Kevin Spacey cut. Hope Ridley Scott considers releasing it.
Christopher Plummer was exceptional at J. Paul Getty. There was a realism to his performance that I feel Kevin Spacey's "Getty" lacked.
Money can't buy happiness...
With all due respect, I disagree. I bought happiness for about $450.00, plus shipping and handling. It's called the "Attacking Anxiety & Depression" home study program. And it works like gangbusters. Wish I had known about it a lot sooner. Bought it for my panic attacks, only to find what it really is, is an effective collection of coping or life skills. All in one place, in a repeatable format. Repetition being the key to change. Like learning anything else. Practice, practice, practice. The real secret to mastery. Who knew? By the time the 15 weeks were up, my coping skills had been automated enough for me to feel like a brand new person. If I can do it, anyone can. Even the miserable rich. But you have to be willing to do the work. And I'm pretty lazy too. Just wish the program dealt with that one as well. But no one and nothing is prefect. Nonetheless, getting free of all those meds was the most liberating thing I ever did for myself. And is why I prefer to call the "Attacking Anxiety & Depression" program a crash course in happiness.
i love Kevin Spacey and i guess we wont get to see his scenes, but Christopher Plummer gave a great performance plus spacey had to use old age makeup where Plummer was the right age. Spacey did it first but after seeing Plummers version i cant even think of anyone else playing that role that good even spacey.
although spacey's would be much different i'm sure and i would like to see that someday, just to compare the 2 performances.
Everyone wants to see the spacey version, i want to see the version when kidnappers says we want 17 million dollars and getty says uh, ok. It lasts 20 minutes.

Spacey looks silly at 2:03.
it's such a same all the things that Spacey did... He is my favourite actor and i would've loved to see him in this movie
"Nothing" That statement gives me life savagery to the leaches getting nothing
Bro his grandson was kidnapped
Which resulted in the savagery of his grandson having his ear sawed off with a razor...
Damn! I want to see the Kevin Spacey version. I'm not saying Christopher Plummer isn't cold enough but Spacey with the makeup looks closer to the real guy.
Donald Sutherland looks more like the real guy. He played him in Trust.
Christopher plummer isn't a sexual predator. I think that matters more.
@@daciabeatrix5475 Nah
@@PaulZArtsAgree.
You don't get all the money in the world by being someone who gives it away.
That’s right!
That is literally the quote I say whenever any asks me for money.
Yeah he had a point. He had alot of kids and grand kids. If he paid 17 million (alot more in today's cash) he'd have risked other relatives being kidnapped and would have been putting more loved ones in danger. It was a tough place to be. Was never about the money but the safety of his family. Id have struggled the exact same to decide. But I don't think I'd be able to be as cold about a family member. Especially a parent, child or grandchild.
@@shanehughes3511 actually no it was entirely about the money. If you watch the movie you'll see Paul is actually a total piece of shit.
You have no love in your heart
fuck Kevin Spacy was terrifying
and to think that even the Ndranghetas guy felt sorry for John Paul Getty III when his grandfather refused to pay the money asked by the kidnappers.
the way kevin says 'nothing' and the way he walks off, is so much better than Plummer's.
I was thinking the same. Kevin Spacey might be an asshole of a human being, but he talent is unparalleled
Disagree. They're different takes. Plummer's is more understated and subtle, playing into the way he approached the overall role. Spacey's take would've been good no doubt, but what sounds more dramatic in a trailer doesn't mean it'd work for the entire movie.
Gowtham Kanagaraj but he looks terrible with the make up
LOL
@@Anthonycheesman33 yeah I love Kevin spaceys acting but the make up is distracting. Plummer was a better choice imo.
I want to see this version, if we’re gonna keep watching David finchets 7even which we are, we should see this performance, I think he might have had an Oscar nod
Spacey has the Getty swagger in his step.
"Nothing"
- Getty
What really sucks is that because of that accusation, they're reshooting Kevin Spacey's performance with Christopher Plummer as Jean Paul Getty. Nothing against Plummer but I'm sure Spacey's performance was great and now we'll never get to see it. Spacey's personal life has NOTHING to do with this movie.
scottiemcnichols As great a s a actor Spacey is, we shouldnt be supporting someone as disgusting as Spacey
The movie would have tanked with him in the role and the director knew that.
So, support a child molester? I love Kevin Spacey but I have 0 tolerance for his actions off screen with young boys.
all the hypocrites who say that it was good that they replaced kevin spacey because they didnt want to support a pedo....well let me tell u idiots somethings. HE ALREADY GOT PAID FOR THE ROLE, so replacing him was pointless, all it did was make what would of been a good movie mediocre.
I just saw it with Christopher Plummer in the lead. It was fucking brilliant. I loved it, and even more so bc of my moral dilemma concerning Spacey's now wasted talent. What Spacey did was icky and creepy, but I wouldn't call him a pedo or a rapist. The kid was almost 15. I mean, come on. What were you people doing at 14 and 15? The kid was also at a party rubbing * cough * shoulders with drunken celebrities. All The Money In The World almost seemed to be hinting at the very same questions we ask ourselves about rich spoiled starlets who holler "rape" every time somebody brushes past the stuff that's popping out of their $25 000 gowns. I mean, that's why nature gave us knuckles and elbows. If somebody touches smthg we don't want them touching, it's easy to pop them in the face and just say "oops I thought you wanted it." Anybody who cries 'rape' over a boob grab is just too frikkin pampered, imo. But what do I know? To quote Fletcher Chase, "Guns are for people who don't have money"... I guess...
Putting Spacey's personal issues aside and speaking just in terms of craftsmanship, I'm honestly not sure if Spacey could have done better than Plummer in the role. Just as well, maybe. But Idk about better.
I really want to see the version with Kevin Spacey
There was a lot of input with people saying Getty was miserly. And that is supposed to be bad? Yes, it is uncomfortable to people who are affected by his miserliness. People all the sudden become officianados with other people’s money and how they should spend it. It sucks for his grandsons. But I actually commend Getty’s tactic. He was very shrewd and right. All of a sudden his whole family becomes a target of ransom and blackmail. I’m sure Getty have to deal with this even within his own family. Turns out the real kid and his father are losers with a rich father. You’re not popular if you don’t make people happy with your own money. 😂😂😂
The song makes the movie more interesting
Agree.Makes it more like a crime film
Just watched the Pummer version, and he was the perfectly casted actor. Kevin Spacey looks absolutely ridiculous with that makeup on! Like a waxy dummy! This was meant to happen. It was always going to be Pummer's role.
Shame what happened.. Phenomenal actor
the best thing of the whole movie is the song from "The Zombies" ;-D
2:04 me when I hit the lottery and my family was fake kidnapped!
*TIME OF THE SEASON -THE ZOMBIES name of the song...!*
They don't know. When music was so a part of the time.
The Zombies*
Absolutely gold with Spacey unfortunate as it is,
Honestly I couldn't see Paul Getty as played by anyone but Christopher Plummer, but Kevin spacey is one of my favourite actors of all time so I'm really interested is they would ever release the original cut.
Also Kevin Spacey needed a make up to play J Paul Getty but for Plummer he's already natural and don't need a makeup
They will release it in the public domain like 50 years from now? If it still exists. They really need some sign of Spacey's approval just like with Gore movie to release it now. Otherwise he may very well sue to protect his image and intelectual property, I think. And there is no sign of good will or participation on Spacey's side. He probably thinks Plummer version is superior to his own. And doesn't want his accusers to make any royalties from "Gore", especially since he was paid for it already;-)
How much energy would you give to this coronavirus epidemic
Me: nothing (walks away)
Good for you, Mr. Getty...... People come and go, but Money is forever....!!!👍
💵💵💵💵
CAN NOT WAIT for this! Kevin Spacey will be OFF THE LEASH!! He's my favorite, this will be so good!
Patron I’ve got news for you...
Riley Ullsmith lol 😂
I have some bad news for you.
Patron umm....
Shall we tell them? 😅
I hope we get to see the proper version one day
The song "Time of the season" of The Zombies is perfect!
WOW, Kevin looked beyond stellar in that. Damn it, so sad it went down like it did. Plummer is more.... adequate, I guess.
Yes. Pure talent shows even if it's one or two lines.
Marie Bellucci I would have loved to have seen Spacey in the role, but Christopher Plummer is a phenomenal actor in his own right.
Amen.
Marie Bellucci well he doesn't fuck children so yeah, adequate to say the least.
Are you kidding me? His makeup looks like shit
Plummer is a great actor and made it a good film. Spacey with his unique ability to steal every scene would have made this not a good film, but instead a classic. Incidentally, watch the bbc version mini series with Donald Sutherland. Now that really is a dark billionaire. It’s called Trust and it’s good.
I want spacey!!!!
Why did the studio originally want Spacey to play Getty in the first place? He's not even the right age, so they had to spend so much extra effort on makeup / CGI or whatever, for a subpar visual result (Spacey looks terrible and unconvincing here). Plummer wasn't a no-name actor either.
WoW. Ghassan Massoud (Saladin) playing here! 0:47
A great choice
This trailer is better than the Plummer one.
Way better!
Way way better.
Who else think Michelle Williams was robbed at the Oscars?
Luyolo Ntozini No, only McDormand deserved that year
Glad to see Spacey still needs old age makeup
His mid 50s here getty was in his 80s so would need it.
He looks fantastic in the movie couldn't even tell it was him
I want to see this movie,it looks good.
I'm generally quite against old man makeup anyways, and Ridley wanted Plummer from the start. I'm over Spacey...he sure did play a good creep, but it seems like it wasn't such an act.
his line delivery nothing is better than plummer's imo. the make up is distracting though. it reminds me of johnny depp's make up in black mass.
Yep, Spacey plays an amazing sociopath. It would be awesome if the original cut leaked and we could see them side by side. I'm open to Plummer though, He's got skills, and he's old...for real.
Plumber will get the Oscar for this
UnbelievabIeMontages his performance in Black Mass is the most underrated of this decade right next to Jake Gylenhaal’s in Nightcrawler...
Its to bad the husband didnt start taking drugs till after they had all those kids. That poor wife.
King Musa was the richest man in the history of the world
Not Getty.
Look at his children now.... all poor middle class people.
Who is the actress?
Spacey looked like he played Getty as a very smart, logical man who keeps to himself. To hide his real feeling, he acts like an asshole but in his heart he cares deeply but also knows he can't act with emotion... I felt in the first trailer he had a plan that he hid from the mom and the media.
Here Plummer plays Getty as a rich, sinful man who doesn't want to be seen vulnerable... or who doesn't want to be taken advantage of. Plummer's Getty is an asshole, and kinda bad man.
Plummer got it right!
No offense but the script didn't change at all when the movie was reshot with Christopher Plummer. So the way Getty would've been portrayed in this movie would've been exactly the same. The acting would've been somewhat different but to say that Spacey's version was one way and Plummer's was another is kind of exaggerating.
such a stupidly written movie. mother after 1 year of kidnapping: "oh i forgot i have a multi-million dollar work of art in the closet. i just forgot!" it's unbelievably stupid. ruins the movie. as if it was not bad before this.
So will Ridley Scott rerelease the movie with Kevin Spacey’s parts put back, now that the allegations made against Spacey were proven to be bullsh*t in a court of law?
The Solitary Billionaire is on BBC iPlayer. Can someone put it on here. It is the real Getty in 1963 with Alan Whicker.
Very pleased Kevin Spacey was dropped. The new guy was superb.
HOW MUCH WILL YOU PAY ....................... NOTHING!
(What's your name?) Marshall
(Who's your daddy?) I don't have one
I can tell most of the film was remake other then Plummer. It sounded much better when Plummer was cast.
I prefer Kevin Spacey's version
Kevin Spacey's prosthetic make-up is dreadful not to mention look's nothing whatsoever like the real life "JPG". I'm surprised that Ridley Scott filmed such a ridiculous looking "JPG". Christopher Plummer saved the day!!!!
Ridley actually wanted Christopher Plummer from the beginning. He was his first choice. But the studio insisted on Kevin Spacey because they wanted a big name actor
it’s like Godfather 3…. young Pacino replaced by young Garcia…
Kevin, Kevin, Kevin.... definitely could have had an Oscar Nod for you... shocked and disappointed in you, Kevin. You had it all, and went and screwed it up.
Which 7 deadly sin do you think he is accountable for?

WHATS IN DA BOCKS!?!? WHATS IN DA FOKKIN BOX?!
What is the movie about a rich grandfather who gave a millions to his grandson but he will not purchase something he just need to spend it
Kevin Spasey has the charisma that is missing from the last version
Yes.
What could've been!
If you read between the lines, the movie is about de Rothschild
The hell are you talking about? This isn't a fictional story, J. Paul Getty and the Getty family were/are real people. Getty images, the Getty museum, same family. The film depicts the real kidnapping of J. Paul Getty III in 1973. Get outta here with your qanonsense.
ild like to see the spacey cut.
THIS is the movie I wanted to see. Damn.
Since they cutoff Spacey I downloaded the spacey version from torrent instead of going to theater!!
You have it?
Could you share the file with me?
No one's talking about this so I feel weird bringing it up but I literally came here from Lord of the Flies, how did I end up here??
That may be easy explained - cause I just read that the son of the real Paul Getty is an actor in the movie lord of the flies (Balthazar Getty) xD.
IT TAKES MONEY TO MAKE MONEY !
YOU GET NOTHING!!!!
I think Plummer had it better
Im so happy to see this great movie without Spacey. Seriously.
Trailer looks great. But I am not buying the prosthetic. Just distracting. Ok with the other guy
It looks even worse than I remembered. Christopher Plummer worked far better.
LMAO Kevin Spaceh missed out on an Oscar nomination. Karma's a bitch
