Use to watch Bacon race modifieds at Baytown, TX about 14 years ago. Baytown had a premier dirt track at one time. Use to watch Jason Johnson with the ASCS 360 Nationals there several times a year. He always won lol. Saw my first WoO sprint car race on that track early 2000's. Great racing. The owners bulldozed it about 3 years ago for industrial warehouse expansion in that area and about a year ago the did the same to Royal Purple Raceway where the NHRA held their races there for well over 20 years.
I remember that as well. Long with him run the ASCS National Tour at Baytown and Golden Triangle.
@@scottyc1093 I don't know of any tracks in that area now. Baytown, Golden Triangle, Willis, Battleground are all gone now. I did see a 360 race at Cleveland about 2 springs ago. Early 2000's I saw Jason Johnson win at Cleveland and I remember it because he told the announcer that he would start at the rear but if he won they would pay an extra $1000. Crowd didn't put up the money and he won anyway. Crazy stuff. Use to watch Reutzel and Tankersly battle it our in the Gulf South div of the ASCS all over east Texas. Great racing.
@@easttexan2933 Been to Cleveland several times. I knew Baytown was gone but the others I had no idea. What a shame. Seen alot of races at all those tracks. I followed Rilet. Him and Jason Johnson had really good battles back in the day before Rilets injury.
@@easttexan2933 A lot of people don't know that about Bacon. I always hear people saying he's a really good winged driver and should try winged racing more. They don't know about his successful career with the ASCS. Although never he got a championship, he got a couple 2nd place runs and many wins.
@@scottyc1093 Travis and his dad had some good races too. Yeah, Travis is lucky to be alive. I'm sure alcohol was involved in that decision that day (no pun intended) lol

This looks like David gravels championship to loose so far the most consistent but we will never no if he would truly win if Brad sweet was still running
Guess what, he's not. Sweets choice to go elsewhere. You race the cars that are there. If schatz hadn't lost his crew chief sweet probably wouldn't have all of his championships. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a party.

Bacon has always been pretty successful with the wing. Had several really good championship runs with ASCS. Couple 2nd place runs for the title and quite a few wins. Knoxville Nationals Rookie of the Year etc...

After watching the Salina race from last night (High Limits), boy does this track seem slow. This isn't bad, just so different. I like the Salina track much better than this track.

You guys should come out to sycamore speedway in maple park Illinois. We have the IRA sprint cars come out trice a year the badger midgets and lightning sprints run here a few times a years it’s bout two hrs south west of wilmot raceway.
