I was able to see the movie last month during the Toronto International Film Festival, and I said the exact same thing! Hoult is absolutely phenomenal in this.
I just watched it today and was blown away by the intensity and realism. Definitely a must watch and to find out this took place in Washington state was mindblowing.

There’s so many fantastic festival films that I fear won’t have much of an mainstream audience, but i guess we’ll see, studios rarely spend enough money to market it anyways

This looks like a truly great movie. The trailer gives off Hell Or High Water (and, of course, Heat) vibes but in the Pacific Northwest. Its also one of those absolutely crazy and terrifying true stories that's been waiting to be turned into a good film. Unfortunately, 2024 seems like it might be the perfect time to tell this story. Looking forward to it, hope to see it on the big screen.

they say every actor has a couple of eras- where they fit an archetype. most have one. if theyre lucky they have two. Jude Law had his pretty boy phase early on- and then 20 years of ambiguous work- now i think is when his really interesting work begins- as a middle aged man with real character.
The FBI agent portrayed by Law wrote about this case in his book The Street Agent,. Vertical wasn't too far off, actually. The agent also worked the Marie Hilley case & went undercover with the Marcello family. Kind of lame that Vertical never gave him credit.

I saw it early at a festival and your dead on, it has major Heat vibes, some scenes are lowkey copied but I really enjoyed it.
