Thank you for the beauty you've created!
Glad UA-cam's algorithm led me here... I'm a few minutes in and loving this. Fantastic album!
Thank u for this🔥
❤
Have an adult autistic son whose life revolves around music. Whenever he is out of sorts and rolling with his dad, I usually play some Monk or Eric Dolphy; the dissonance acts as a calming mechanism. Played this album on the way to the gym with him this morning. As soon as the music started he began his bouncing, then started his rapping and happy gesticulations, feeling and embracing the music. Therapy of the highest order. Merci beaucoup Brother Dayes!
I am an adult with autism and I can definitely second this. I have loved jazz, especially monk and miles and coltrane since I was a baby.
I struggle with metal issues and I can deeply relate. Thank you for sharing.
Special moments
I am also an adult autistic son and, let me tell you, you sound like a really good mom. Props to you. 👍
Appreciate all the comments. May the Almighty bless each and everyone of you all.
This album is the past, present, and future at once. I got in the first two minutes of the first track and decided I had to listen on a better system than my laptop. This is unreal. This was the perfect soundtrack to cleaning and organizing my artist studio while fueling the drive of the jazz singer that has been bored with music as of late. Thank you for this offereing. The ancestors are truly elated and you should be proud. This jazz auntie has danced, cried, sobbed, undulated, winded, and pranced to this masterpiece. Your name will be among the greats one day. I proclaim it on your behalf as an elder. Congrats!
It's revivalism, if the recording is from now. Future, well it keeps coming back ... this haunted 60s 70s 80s 90s into the 21st century!

This comment brought tears to my eyes because it is absolutely exactly how I feel. Well said!

So deeply appreciative of you taking the time and sharing! Thank you!
Very good!
I was in a place in life where I need prayer on clarity this past Friday (9-9-2023). I went home lit some candles and played this entire album. The clarity that I needed revealed itself to me the following morning. This is one of the best albums I have listened to from beginning to end since John Coltrane's A Love Supreme. May everyone reading this and listening to this album be blessed with excellent health and wealth. Bless
Ur the man thanks brotha bless
Same to you ❤
delusional but fun
My birthday. 9-9. So I feel you.
Thanks for the positivity! Blessings to you
This man's drumming is insane
it’s unreal man
Damn - this is so nice.
Sitting on the balcony, plugged in and smoking one on a balmy Barbados night with the frogs chirping in the background makes it even better.
Black Classical Music in Black Rock....❤💚🖤
listening by the waters of the nile - take me there
I have been immersed in jazz, rumba, soukous, hip-hop since I was little. I admit that this album is out of the ordinary. I've been waiting for this album. Yussef Dayes, you are one of the best. From Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo 🇨🇩.
Peace and respect to Kinshasa and the DR Congo, from Cork city in Ireland....
Peace and Love to DRC from Kenya.
You mean the capital? @@shysonofficial
@@SergioFormal ya and the rest of the Dr Congo! Peace
Lament for the Congo - Charlie Parker. Thats the best way I can describe the style. Pure feel and connection.
THIS ALBUM DESERVES ALL THE MUSIC AWARDS POSSIBLE. BRAZILIAN GREETINGS
Weather Report vibes. So dope.
Daaaamn a like button is not enough, please add a “soul reaching clarity and total great fulfilling life just because of this sound” button……
Wow...could not have said it BETTER myself!!! As soon as I heard it, I hurried and bought the album off of Ebay!!!
Me and my family are driving 6hrs to Montreal to see Yussef in July. Cant wait. LESSS GOO!!!
Awesome Yussef..at 70 years old it's so nice to hear real music when so much is a rehash of the same sound or just uninventive. So refreshing and soulful. Thank You!!!
Just discovered the album after listening to the live @ Joshua Tree which I listen to regularly. Outstanding. Touched also by how involved Jamaicans from the island and the diaspora are featuring here. This young generation has talent, as I am already a fan of Chronixx & Masego. Outstanding musicianship. Thank you for this gem on Tuesday morning in Addis Ababa.
It seems that "Raisins under the Sun" sounds so sad on this album compared to the Joshua Tree performance. Maybe it's just me🤔🤔
Souls are real. This album is proof.
Rocco Palladino is the son of Pino Palladino. Pino played with the Roots, Elton John, Dilla, D'Angelo, Jeff Beck, NIN, etc. Jazz is the future
This is my favorite album of 2023, and I love it even more now that I just caught an Easter egg. At 53:00, "Mantra" by Makaya McCraven is playing in the background! What a great shoutout to another talented percussionist and producer 🥺
My #1 early morning go to.
Coffee and a jay of the best kind for yo mind.
Keep it fresh kids.
It's fitting that the Sun is blazing here in the UK as this gets released!
Scorcher innit mate. Have a good weekend man 👍🏻
You too! Summer finally arrived (for one week).
perfect timing for this beautiful album
That’s crazy this shit free. The world is beautiful and fucked up at the same time. Damn
Raisins under the sun is the epitome of cool
This amazing band picks up where Return to Forever and Weather Report left off. And it makes me feel good.
That majestic female vocal and fretless bass(I'm assuming) on 'womans touch' is magic.
True music knows no time, place or trend. This is timeless, a universal sound for those who really hear. 10 billion years into the past or future, this album will talk to those who listen ❤💛💚
muy cierto!!
*🥁🧘🎶🎹🎸WE ALL APPROVE OF THIS MESSAGE🎸🎹🎶 🧘🥁*
Wow. Now I need a Yussef Dayes x Robert Glasper, especially after hearing Cowrie Charms.
Turquoise Galaxy gave me CHILLS damn this is good
True masterpiece right here
The Universe choose Yussef to shine bright!!
THIS IS SO GOOOOD!!! Idk the last time I said “wth THIS ALBUM IS SO GOOD” this many times out loud to myself. I’m literally talking to myself about how good this is. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
haha i am right with you friend. It's been about a good year since i heard something this enjoyable.
its pure quicksilver
This album is fantastic. What is old is new again. Reminds me of Jazz of the 60's and 70's, but especially of Kamasi Washington's 2015 release: "Changing of the Guard", among the greatest Jazz albums ever released.
I am so incredibly happy Yussef Dayes exists
First track really reminds me of Love Supreme, fantastic sound
My first thought too.
Mr. Dayes...you out did yourself. You absolutely are one of the greats of our time. What a masterpiece!
Magnolia Symphony takes me to the highest!💯👌🔥Felt like crying when I 1st heard it!😭
I'm touched beyond words...genius! Tom Misch brought me to Yussef Dayes during covid, and I'm thankful every day.
Will be purchasing this musical food ASAP from Bandcamp!

@@malcolmbenjamin28 😂 Malcolm Benjamin aka Mr. Hebrew Israelite. Don't you have some colonizing to do? Since you wanna buck tho, let's setup a ZOOM call. Since I'm actually out here doing the work and not just on the internet, I have access to all types of stuff to get the ball rolling. I ain't hard to find. I would love to dismantle the nonsense.
@@malcolmbenjamin28 Malcolm Benjamin. Where are you? How come everytime I ask someone to meet over a Zoom call for a discussion, they go silent? i don’t know how i found this album but it’s now one of my faves. definitely in my top 15
See You in Atlanta Yes Indeed😎!!! 🎟 🎟🔥🤎
Ommmggggg 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I didn't realize how much I needed this album, until I listened to it. From the organized chaos in the opening track that takes you on a journey thru what can be considered the Diaspora of musical influences that Yussef taps into. What a sonic masterpiece. This is indeed Black Classical Music.
instantly removes all of the stress, tension and anxiety brought on by the exercises of "modern living" ....thank you for recording and sharing this medicine
Magnolia Symphony is one of the best short pieces I've ever heard
here come the journey
Mature taste buds only..
!!! Божественная музыка!!! Джаз жив!!!😇
рад, что наши тоже шарят за Юсефа. Камала Вильямса послушай мужик, вот там настоящая магия, советую.

What a beautiful album💚
at the second day of listening it seems i've always known these tunes!! Masterpiece!
As a latino I find track 2 beautiful!!!!!!!!!
Since I’ve started listening to Alfa Mist, Yussef Dayes, Rocco Paladino, I can’t listen to rap music. Only Jazz, Techno and Classic music.
Magnificent work Yussef, many congratulations. Cheers
My vinyl is on the way 😀
I’ve listened to this album so many times now and already it’s had a profound impact on my life, my creativity, the way I listen and I am eternally grateful. Thank you so so much
this is a masterpiece
This is really great 👍😎
I didn't know what I expected but this is something else
Just jaw dropping and is literally the best album I’ve heard all year……
This album just brought joyous tears to my ears.
First of all, the afro on this cover is EVERYTHING. Second, I am a therapist and I love that I can play this album in the school setting without having to worry about inappropriate language or subject matter, AND there is the added benefit of being so calming, but not in the way that would put you to sleep. Thank you for sharing your gift!
One of the best jazz albums in recent years. Innovative, catching, and skillful!
These tunes are in the frequency of love! Beautiful beautiful. Thanks for sharing, I want this on vinyl so bad.
I stumbled across this today. It gave me instant gratification. My high school son is a jazz musician. ❤🎷🎺
I love Yussef Dayes' drumming, he has something magical and his touch is truly sublime.
Thanks for uploading this album, greetings from Sardinia
Beautiful work Youssef. many thanx for sharing
So Beaitiful, THANKYOU, One Love ❤ x
I had a friend whose daughter was autistic and they were having trouble calming her down then one day I noticed that when a piano was going namely James booker she was just took somewhere else by the sound . So I really love to hear other stories that further proves music is truly healing and therapeutic.
Fact. This album speaks volumes. Reminds me of AC Mainz Music.Chasing drums my fav on this but they all so brilliant. In a different world and holding its own lane this sound. This master piece is appreciated by us Yussef.
My cats are loving this album… hanging out with them on the living room floor, watching them love their ears to catch the best, deepest bass lines, giving them some catnip every once and a while…this is bliss! Thank you❤
r yo me
For me, this is one of Yussef Dayes' best yet! Love this!🎶❤🎵
My fav, Birds of paradise ... wow
Crystal Palace park is one of my favourite places in London, I miss living round those parts
great jazz. Greetings from the Caribbean 🦜🌴🍃🇵🇷
Man, that groove in "Chasing the Drum" is so fire🔥
The drummer understands the tones and how they brace the melody. Even the bass player is free to do his own thing.
Nice. Very nice.
The greatest shame of black music is the fact that since the advent of rap and hip hop people stopped played REAL instruments and mainly stole other people's music now it seems that things are changin . It would be great to give the recognition that it deserve to DISCO-FUNK that it is a genre that like no other was (and is) made of immense soulful vocalists immense musicians great danceability using real musicians and real instruments in order to do so . It is still the only real modern dance music.
If you listen to white radio you'll hear mostly synths and samples too. It's a result of technology and a corporate recording industry that wants to maximize profits. Why pay for a full studio and session musicians when you can buy a synthesized beat from some kid in his bedroom? If that's all you play, the people won't even know what they're missing after a while.
@@jbo8540 Of course but as Marsalis stated black people have betrayed the symbol of black music culture : the drums .
Whites and Asians invented synthesized music (kraftwerk synth pop bands etc.) and blacks rather than dislike this souless music have embraced it and put on a level superior of REAL black music...this is a shame. Of course the majority of nowadays "music" is temporary crap except Bruno Mars (and similar bands) that still play real black disco-funk music. Yussef Dayes and the nu fusion movement are also rediscover the essence of black music that is made of soul and emotion .
@@user-du1yk7uk9v one wonders if you've actually listened to this album?
charles stacy plays synths on it.
@@rakninja My comment was in favour not against
@@user-du1yk7uk9v "Whites and Asians invented synthesized music (kraftwerk synth pop bands etc.) and blacks rather than dislike this souless music have embraced it and put on a level superior of REAL black music"
that's not in favor, my friend.
many black artists pioneered the use of synths, people like herbie hancock, weather report, earth wind and fire, the isley brothers, miles davis, and MJ made extensive use of synths and other electronic instruments.
the "soul" of music does not come from the instruments used, but from the composers who wrote it, and the musicians that play it. instruments, electronic or otherwise, are just tools. you can make music with heart and emotion behind it with anything that can make a sound.
tl:dr, it's people who put the soul in music, not instruments.
Woah the vibe is real gelato my favorite track so far real 😮
This music is divine and so fine, thanks for blessing us! 🌟
Thank you so much Mr. Dayes!!!!
Great album! There are so many great jazz artists right now - Yussef Dayes, Matthew Halsall, Bloto/EABS, ADHD, Badbadnotgood, Àbáse, High Pulp, Gogo Penguin, Alfa Mist, Jazzbois, Yazz Ahmed.....
Kokoroko
@@gontsekganyago4079 Kokoroko is more afrobeat to my knowledge, but thanks for bringing them to my attention again. Their album from a year ago flew under my radar.
