I’ve been on the struggle bus. Haven’t caught a bass since mid December. I’ve thrown everything I can think of including jerk baits. So ready for spring. Love the vids.
Hate to hear that man. During these cold slow times, I always seem to catch some on Ned rigs and micro jigs. Doesn’t always pull the biggest fish but hey numbers are numbers and it always keeps me humble in time for spring. Keep at it

I recently bought the Orochi Whipsnake with the Vanford 2500 for jerkbait fishing and love that setup! Goes with my Expride casting rod perfectly!! I've caught some nice ones on both the past few months!
No kidding man. I gave up on the A-Rig this year after going through six local crafted ones in two weekends. I have to compose myself after each one with complete silence and four letter words popping off in my head.
It's part of the game. I lost a TN60 last weekend on a backlash haha. Lost a megaabass jerkbait in fall like Matt. Numerous Hudds in rocks the last two winters.
@@bassinbilliards6279 JMO; what I have learned in my newly explored BFS world; If you set the spool tension light to knocking; the drag extremely light [you can always use your thumb]; and the magnetic on the high side; when the backlash occurs it will not break off the leader, lure or rod tip. Then on retrieve you can always spool up the drag wheel to fit the fight. Just my dry land casting experience from a very old rancher.

Also, I used your tactical crankbait during the fall when the fish were fat on shad. It was able to force a response even when there was tons of bait in the water. I had a beautiful spot just slam it. So much fun…

Matt, I have owned the Ronin. Great rod for jerk baits, but a little short for other general finesse. Is there a new Destroyer (Landsat or Baby Plugging) that would work for 110 jr’s and still work as a multi-purpose rod for other light techniques?

It's 2 part for us. We're always on the road so Florida gear, Texas gear, and Tennessee gear are all completely different. But we also get a TON of rain. It's a habit to always pull the boxes and verify they're dry instead of losing tackle to rust.
When you go out do you bring lots of just the specific tackle you think you’ll use? I was surprised you didn’t have more jerkbaits with you. I’m guessing a boat that size can hold like 30+ 3700s…I always have some of everything but maybe that’s because I don’t have 20 boxes of each thing…yet! 😂
I need more clarification on why using a spinning set up. Bc of the lighter line? Why can’t you just spool a casting set up with the 12lb braid and 8lb leader?
I fish from shore (spinning) and use a 7''6' Poison M and Zodias 7' M -on the +1 the Poison feels better and for the JR +1 the Zodias. Does your expride perform well for both the JR and the regular oneten? What spinning rod from the Shimano line up wd you take for jerkbaiting? Cheers

I have been fishing jerk baits a lot recently. 15 hours fishing of only using them. No bites. I fish ponds and small lakes. I use 110s and pointers. 5-15 second pauses. 39-41 degree water. Haven't caught a bass since December 6th, and I'm getting desperate. Any tips for me?
Since you said that you were going to power fish, I was surprised to see you pausing a jerkbait on a spinning rod. I didn’t think you considered that power fishing. So I thought you likely had been power fishing, but with no success. Halfway into the video, you confirmed this!
Dobyns Fury 765 or 795... both could work for those 3...if u fish frogs more often..765...bigger swimbaits more often 795...765 can handle up to 2 oz. Swimbaits...795 can go up to 3-4 oz...
The jerkbait is all I'm getting bit on lately too - specifically the Duo Realis Rozante 77SP. They will munch that bait, just had one t-bone it yesterday and get the bait wedged vertically in its mouth where I landed it no problem and it didn't even get a hook point. My winter bass seem to prefer a super slow float over a true suspend or sinking jerkbait.
Do you guys get your reels tuned up? Saw a guy at a show recently with a local business that did it and I was thinking of trying it. Is it worth the dough?

I'm using live to find the edge of the break. The fish themselves were mostly out of view glued to bottom. Zero adaptation without live except a couple more missed casts trying to locate the edge in the current.

Have you guys ever been totally skunked where u fish from sun up to sun down and nothing happens to me all the time I have spent so much money just to not catch anything its getting old am probably gonna quit maybe just bank fish with this economy I can't even feed my self let alone fish can't even buy baits that may work then when I do go fishing I spend 12 hours just catch nothing I have a garbage lowrance hook reveal 7 and I see fish but never catch them
Buddy. This is the hardest part of the year to fish, that being said if your getting skunked that often it’s probably something you’re missing. You’re too fast or not deep enough. I only bank fish and sometimes kayak fish.

The jerkbait special, while a different length, has a virtually IDENTICAL flex pattern to a 6'10" Expride. Great choice 👍🏼

Thoughts on an Expride 7’2” ML Spinning for jerkbait? It’s a little long but helps with long casts from shore.

Id go with a 7’4’ to 7’6” Heavy action rod with 50 or 65lb braid, and add a 20lb mono leader when you use a swimbait

Probably not. Just clean it yourself. But it may be worth it to get one done and see if you think its worth the cost

Why is vision 110 floating up and not suspending?
Lure buoyancy varies with water temperature and is most clearly seen at more extreme water temperatures.
