Because she's not a member of that committee. She has no special privilege that she should be allowed to participate any more than I do or anybody else watching this. Her job is somewhere else and she should go do that. By being there, she's saying that the people on that committee that are in her same party are not adequate to handle what they need to handle. So she has to come and step in and be a savior. That is not being very respectful to the democrats on that committee.

Where they allow other members of Congress to come in and speak to them about the issues that they are concerned about that committee will cover. That time is when other members can come in and address the committee. At any other time. I believe they either have to get an invitation from someone on the committee or get some kind of special permission from the chair. Because they Have complicated protocols for that kind of thing. It would have to be a very special circumstance. It would be a very rare occasion when a member of Congress could just request to speak to the committee and then get to do it. If it's a specific issue, then they have to be involved in it or have some other expertise that they might be called on. But just to come and voice their opinions. Is not proper protocol. Can you imagine how long they would take to get anything done if any member of Congress could come in and address a committee at any time? There are over 500 members of Congress.

It is a democracy because people govern themselves. It is representative because people choose elected officials by free and secret ballot. On Thursday, the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee of the House Foreign Affairs Committee convened to discuss U.S. policy regarding Cuba. Rep Barbara Lee IS NOT a member of this committee. She tried to speak at the meeting but IS NOT EVEN ON THE COMMITTEE. That's why she was REMOVED. For disrupting the committee THAT SHE WASN'T EVEN ON. But yeah, it's because of racism...or something. 🙄🙄🙄

Seems to me as one who hasn't heard of Ms. Salazar prior to this that if she or her parents lived under Communism and suffered through Castro and his regime, it makes sense that someone like Lee - who swoons over governments like Castro's and the one in Venezuela would be counter-productive in this setting. I don't know the legalities of this, but I get it. And then for Lee to shout Trump's name in a fit of fury and immaturity didn't help her case. If you are Congresswoman, then act it. There should be zero acceptance for any individual, regardless of rank or stature, to represent the United States, the people, the constitution, and bill of rights, if that individual has been proven to sympathize or participate in any act indicating a stance supporting anything other than the United States constitution and bill of rights. To assume the expulsion of a person with conflicting opinions towards what the constitution and bill of rights represents is an action equal to those the opposition coincide with is absolutely nonsense and ignorant. If you believe its okay to permit this, in our country, you are part of the problem and should consider relocating to the countries you support. If you represent yourself, your alignment is yours.
