I have two of these Pyro boards, including the 93 litre size as my marginal winds board. (That 93 litres is, as others have mentioned, 60cms wide.) I find the Pyros work with any fin set up, tri fin, quad, or as a twin, and really you are just tuning backfoot 'drive' against looseness. In 2023 Koster seems to be using twin fins less, but of course the choice also depends on personal preferences and on your local wave conditions.
Hi. Thanks for the review. I’ve tried the 93 as a thruster in Tenerife and I just loved it. I thinking yo buy a 87 as a one wave board as im 78-80kg. What size and model of K4 would you recommend for twin set up? Mainly for onshore condition 4.5 to 5.3? Twin set up looks super fun on this board.
Hey Andres - thanks for your comment 🤙 I got back from Tenerife last night. Great place to sail. I would recommend the K4 Leon or the K4 Scorcher. I have two Leon 18’s as my twin set up on my Pyro 93 and even with my weight of 94 kg the set up is perfect. Very fast but very loose. The twin set up makes the board feel even more electric 🤙💥
Hi, thanks for the review. You seem to take a different fin size than recommended by Severne for twin set up (18cm vs 15 cm). Why is that and what size would you recommend for the Pyro 105l (103kg, 4.0-5.3)? Many thanks!
Hi. I tried the Pyro 93 with 16 twins and found them too small given my weight of around 93kg’s. I find the 18 twin set up still leaves the board feeling very alive, sharp, fast and amazing to turn without the lack of tail grip I had with smaller fins in the back. It’s s personal thing I guess. I also have a Severne Nuevo 86 which had twin 15’s that knit and I’ve changed them to 18’s too which has transformed that board. That said I rarely use it as it’s really too small for me. For the Pyro 105 I’d try a twin set up of 20’s. Let us know how it goes. 🤙💥
Hi, great review!!! I would like to have a suggestion from you. I'm 95kg, exper rider and I use to go on european and gustty conditions, tipically between 4.7 and 5.6 sail size. Do you think the 93 is the right size or I would be better with 99? Thanks Henry
Hey Henry. I think if you are a little bit heavier than me and plan to sail in gusty conditions on 4.7 and 5.6 I would go for the 99. It will still feel very alive and mega manoeuvrable but will be more forgiving in the lulls and in slightly less wind. I’ve only used the Pyro 93 in full power 4.5 weather so far. Look forward to hearing how you enjoy it. Cheers. 🤙💥

93 liter should be 60 cm wide not 61.5 cm? 99 liter is 61.5.
