Are these officially scored as HR? The iffy throws maybe should be triple, plus single base error. How far can scorers go,in saying "well,he probably would have made it"?
@@thomassullins8690 None of them are errors. At all. Mistakes yes, but the fact is almost all ITP home runs are made on mistakes. That's been true since the deadball era when a lot of parks had deep outfields if they had walls at all. The only way any of them become errors is if the fielder misses a catch on a dive any average fielder would be expected to make a catch on. That Alvarez insider was actually ruled a home run. I was at the game on the first baseline. It was part of the back to back to back jacks. Alvarez, Martin, Jones.
Seeing CC Sabathia and Ellsbury combine for two inside the park home runs reminds me of when the Yankees gave up back to back inside the park home runs to the Rangers in 1977 on consecutive pitches.
I witnessed one by Justin Upton one time. I had just gotten to Chase Field a little late when I heard the ball hit the bat and cheering and I turned around to see him hauling it around the bases
Good video, but you missed Oakland A's catcher Jim Essian's inside the park grandslam against Toronto on June 10, 1979 in Oakland. I was there, and it was the most amazing thing I ever saw, a catcher motoring for an inside the parker.

A big one that wasn't shown was in the 90s Dan Wilson of the Mariners hit an in the park grand slam that bounced off the top of the center field wall and rolled all the way back to second base.
It's kind of weird that once an outfielder fails to catch the ball they take a few seconds to just ponder their failure before they go and try to retrieve it. I'm like cmon go go go.

I love that these are still statistically included with the more conventional homeruns. Also, 6:45, I don't think this would be scored a homerun, but a a triple with the batter taking home on the error by the RF.
No error. The fielder used his glove to relay the ball back to the CF rather than attempt to field it, stop, and throw, knowing they were trying to catch one of MLB's fastest players. No errors committed this entire video.
Didn't watch whole video but saw one few days ago where outfielder was so pissed because didn't make an off the wall difficult catch it, so he throws his hat down and ignores the ball completely, and another outfielder had to run over and get the ball and throw it but batter got an IPHR, was so disgusting how he threw a tantrum like a 4 yo and costing team a run
Why do so many of these outfielders not even try to throw the ball in after they miss it? After they miss they act like little pussies and just stand around while one of their team mates have to come running from half the field away to grab it, and then the cut off man didn't attempt to throw it in half the time either.

Inside the park homerun is basically Outfielders failing to do their job

I guess
Give outfielders some slack it’s hard
I don’t care, these guys practice literally everyday and that’s all they do, so to fail this bad is insulting.

Home Runs are just pitchers failing to do their job
Strikeouts are just Batters failing to do their job.
