The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is the premier late night talk show on CBS, airing at 11:35pm EST, streaming online via CBS All Access, and delivered to the International Space Station on a USB drive taped to a weather balloon. Every night, viewers can expect: Comedy, humor, funny moments, witty interviews, celebrities, famous people, movie stars, bits, humorous celebrities doing bits, funny celebs, big group photos of every star from Hollywood, even the reclusive ones, plus also jokes.
Odenkirk is the reason for half of those adult swim shows back when it first started. He's produced and written so much genius, and most people have no idea. Mr Show was great too, of course.
He also wrote the Van Down by the River sketch on SNL that is regarded by many to be the best SNL sketch.
You're right. His producing and writing brilliance is overlooked way too often. I officially became an Odenkirk through his work on Tom Goes to the Mayor (also criminally underrated and ahead of its time).
@@gankhef5564 I officially became an odenkirk when I absorbed his life energy on a layover flight in Dallas where we both happened to be sitting near each other. Now I am become odenkirk, destroyer of comedy. I know everything he knows. Feel everything he feels.
I still wonder what he was doing flying coach though... surely he’s got enough money for first class? If not what are you doing bob? You’re a multi Emmy nominated actor, cash you chips already, Jesus Christ!
@@Glassandcandy Seriously?? If you aren't kidding then I envy you intensely my friend.
Even wrote a couple of eps of 'Get A Life.' One of my fave shows.
"Stephen, it's never easy to see yourself portrayed" 😂
I howled at that!
I laughed at that, too 😆
this is the most avant garde thing I've ever seen on this show
The best part is that they could have had infinite loops
This is great how am I just seeing this
It's like a Conan bit.
@@RedlegsBluelegs its where eric andre ripped a lot of his shit from...BO is the weirdo man...better call saul changed my life
It’s very Bob Odenkirky
They need to do more of this weird stuff. It is when Colbert is at his very best. The crowd doesn't seem to get it, but they don't have too. This is when Colbert is the most interesting.
Mr. Show with Bob & David was all about that life.
Absolutely, this was so great!
To be fair, the crowd did not get to see it the way we did with the editing
I hate what the Late Show did to Stephen in general.
You’re on Celebrity Hand Stab! Lol, that entire bit was a riot. Wow, I have never watched Colbert before. Maybe I’ll give him a shot.
Man, did I pick the wrong clip to watch while coming down from an acid trip.
I understood that reference. haha
Chrisko1492 It's merely a joke, based on a line from the movie Airplane. I do not take drugs.
Chrisko1492 Why are people proud of not knowing popular culture references? That's pretty pathetic, tbh.
that was INTENSE!
Matt Johnston I think it might be used as an indication of life of one's own.
That whole bit BLEEDS monty python. The timing, the absurd ending with them both wearing two wigs, just confusing the viewer by trying to convince them that they are now themselves playing themselves through the idea of playing the other guy, the fact that they end up discussing absolutely nothing through the entire thing. I love it.
That and early Letterman.
That, and Bob's old show "Mr. Show" (which he once described as an American Monty Python)
Yes, I can see John Cleese and Graham Chapman sitting at a desk just talking about nothing in particular, but making it look like it's very important. 😉
Feels more like Mr Show. Although, someone else already said that.
I'm the dude playing a dude disguised as another dude.
"That's enough of that. Allright, babies are ugly, Jimmy, roll the clip!" - that's the late show that we deserve
That was one of the best bits of surrealism I’ve seen in a long time. I’m gonna give it five celebrity hand stabs out of five.
Yeah 'surreal' is a pretty spot on description. For me it's only 4 hand stabs and a pinkie twist, because in the movie in the movie in the movie their makeup could've been better and Colbert would *never* say "Babies are ugly" - it's "Babies smell of poop".
I'm getting notes of Eric André.
@@marywealth6475 Odenkirk and Mr. Show predated Eric Andre's show by over 10 years, and they did weird surreal stuff like this all the time on it, an Eric Andre was definitely influenced by it.
Some say they're still in a clip to this day.
You were the clip all along
Nah, I think that the one who was the clip along is M. Night Shamalamayamayamadingdong.
Find The Jim; he will know where the clip ends--IF IT DOES. *NO, YOU WERE THE ONE IN A CLIP ALL ALONG!*
Considering it's now a clip, they truly are. It's like in Harry Potter, you can take a picture of somebody & you get a clone of them imprisoned in the photograph dimension.
WHAT A TWIST!
Bob has had his hands in everyone’s favorite tv shows. Brilliant man, extremely talented and humble.
He'd better watch out; he might get that hand stabbed.
Bob would make a good Bill O''Reilly impression
Bruno Zanette No... Sean Spicer!
We'll DO IT LIVE!
Bruno Zanette They look the same
Bruno Zanette Oh my god that would be overwhelmingly funny
I was thinking the exact same thing.
This was the most Mr Show thing Bob's written since Mr Show 👏
That's possibly the dumbest bit I've ever seen. LOVED IT.
Flack Byte seen*
Then you'll love Mr. Show
I do love Mr Show and Bob and David
Mspandaninja88 Corrected
If you haven't seen the shit he did with Tim & Eric, check that out. Definitely got flashes of that when I saw this.
i think we can all agree, bob absolutely nailed the walk at 0:57
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 he nailed calling jim to play the clip just before
"hi i'm bob odenkirk, Okay that's enough of that!!"
ben dover n
It's like the deeper they go, the more they deteriorate
LMAO 🤣
The writers were definitely having some fun with this one
Brian Stack is all over this
Actually this smells like an Odenkirk bit. He probably wrote it
This is like a Mr. Show sketch, and is therefore magnificent.
"Clap, you pigs!" is a line I would like to hear more often. And not because I wanna hear the audience at all, but because I wanna hear them be called that!
Try Gutfeld!
🐷
"Celebrity Hand Stab". It wouldn't be the worst show.
"Ow! My Balls!" would crush it in the ratings
+Plop brought to you buy Carl's Jr.
Carl's Jr: Fuck you! I'm eating.
Trump would be hard
Melinda Green probably better than "Candy Crush with your host Mario Lopez."
My first exposure to Bob is through Breaking Bad. Imagine my whiplash learning he's the wackiest man alive
lol, well Bryan Cranston came from Malcolm in the Middle, so... the whole show was full of miscast people :)
I mean he did play the wackiest character, so...
@@MrGencyExit64 The whole show is proof that none of the roles were miscasts
This is also like those of us that first saw Hugh Laurie in House.
Sweet Bob odenkirk virgin
I loved that they turned the interview into a Mr. Show type skit
I could watch this forever! Bob is so fun, he's such a pleasure to watch... his facial expressions, his hand gestures, his voice, his sense of humor... I love everything about this guy!
I like how Stephen, playing Bob as the guest, drinks from host Stephen's (Bob's) mug, which is actually his own mug.
Themistocles Yup
Dude I swear Bob Odenkirk has got to be probably one of the greatest actors of all time. His timing is absolutely, absurdly impeccable. He can get out of any kind of timing and set his own, everything is actor, acting all the time with air, life, perfection, always. He lives and breathes his characters
One of my favourite celebrity hand stab episodes.
This is some straight Mr. Show. Love it!
Yup. Anyone who's seen the original Mr. Show would recognize this as total Odenkirk style.
Seriously! Gives me the feels and now I need to go dust off my Mr. Show DVD’s.
netflix > w/ bob & david
The celebrity hand stab was total mr show lol
Reminds me of pre taped call in show. One of the most genius Mr Show skits of all time.
"Gotcha! Stephen Colbert you're on Celebrity Hand Stab!" His voice and the expression on his face as he said it, lol "You got Celebrity Hand Stabbed."
it's almost like he was a writer for Mr. Show with Bob and David
Randy Steele exactly. this was basically a Mr show transition sketch
Randy Steele
Even though it was hit and miss, With Bob and David had some pretty incredible sketches as well.
"This is Bob Odenkirk, Bob tell me about your movie"
"Uhh... I'm Bob Odenkirk."
"Alright that's enough of that, babies are ugly!"
That has to be the funniest thing I've ever seen in a late-night talkshow.
Babies are ugly!
Too meta for network audiences.
Always has been. I'm convinced Bob took a lot of material emphasis from Bill Hicks. Like minds are segregated out of the network.
To be fair half the joke is feeling more clever than network audience
this was hella just a Mr. Show sketch
Literally did a hat on a hat hahaha
@@pashadyne Do you know what a spit take is? Because you just made one happen. I hope you're real proud of yourself.
Odenkirk is one of my life heroes. Thank you for this, Mr. Colbert
We need to go deeper
that's what she said
the knife did not go deep enough
it ends when they reveal this has all been taking place in the Colbert Report
not possible, that many levels is to unstable the whole thing would collapse
Nah, even further, it was all taking place in the Daily Show and it was all just one long field piece
Whenever bob odenkirk is on a talkshow they do something amazing. I don't know if bob comes up with this and gives it to the producers of each talkshow or the producers just do it with bob, because you rarely see something like this with other guests.
So, he basically brought a Mr. Show-style sketch to The Late Show. I love it!
This is a sketch that evolves into something completely different. Went from "Late Show the movie" to "Celebrity hand stabbed" - reminds me of how many of Monty Python's sketches also took an unexpected turn, so the end had nothing to do with the beginning. Great comedy!
Is it just me or does Stephen in the wig look like a blonde RDJ?
Meg Cerino Are you this wasn't Robert Downey Jr. playing Stephen Colbert playing Bob Odenkirk, then Letterman's going to come out from behind the curtain and Stephen's gonna send it back to Jon Stewart because we're really watching The Daily Show in 2005?
i agree, he kinda does look like R2D2
Half rdj half Boyle from Brooklyn 99
@@scottmcdonnell5403 I too was thinking of depressed Jake's-in-prison Boyle.
I love Bob so much.
Holy shit! This is actually sublime. So surreal, and very clever.
This is actually really good ! More absurd humor, there should be more like this crazy stuff on that show!
We must go deeper. *BWAAAAAAM*
This is the best thing I've ever seen on this show.
The greatest segment of Colbert I have ever seen.
This is the kind of comedy that they both used to do back when they were up-and-comers (see Mr. Show and Strangers With Candy). I like to think it's still the kind of comedy they prefer.
Strangers with Candy was so deranged, and Colbert was perfect in it
anybody thinks stephen looks like robert downy jr in that blonde wig?
Yeah, also a bit like the news anchor Dan Rather.
I'd say he looks more like Michael McDonald from MADtv
Or maybe Robert Downey Jr. looks like Stephen Colbert.
It's like this bit was lifted out of an episode of Mr. Show. Especially the Celebrity Hand Stab closer. It would fit seamlessly. I miss Bobs' straight-up comedy. He has such a unique energy.
It was totally Mr Show.
Clip-ception
This might be the best Colbert clip I've seen
Better Call-Bert!
Odenkirk is a national treasure for every nation with a sense of humor
That was some seriously mr show level of inception, loved it !
This is some straight up Mr Show comedy right here.
it was a mini Mr show!
"celebrity hand stab!"
hustler3of4culture3 Mr show is sooooo good
This is one of the best bits Colbert has ever done. True American hero.
this is why i like stephen colbert, this sketch is brilliant
This sketch is 100% Odenkirk. A re-incarnation of Mr. Show.
Colbert had nothing to do with the creation of this sketch.
Not only is this all Bob, Colbert doesn’t have a funny bone in his body.
@@aldayalnite watch his dana carvey show sketch about waiters
@@aldayalnite He got rid of the funny parts when he sold his soul.
This is one of my favorite late night bits EVER, goofy genius
idk why but Steven with blonde hair looked so much like
Tony Stark ( that face) :D
Colbert and RDJ looked a lot alike when they were younger
Marius Snow it didnt help that he was a dude playing a dude while disguised as another dude in this skit
Melvin Hansy ...Topic Thunder!
When I went to a taping of the Colbert Report he had just come off vacation and took a bet from a friend that he would do his first show back with the Tony Stark goatee he grew on vacation.
Needless to say, I wasn't sure if I was watching Colbert or RDJ.
Funny that he literally did an RDJ impression with the goatee and everything just a few days ago lol
Did Bob write this? Absolutely brilliant.
That was terrible. I liked it.
Geralt of Trivia and I was alive
@@BG-dq9pp I was good at it
God, 'Celebrity Hand Stab!' is such a GREAT SHOW!!! The lengths they go to, just to stab celebrities in the hand, it's so compelling and brilliant! I can't believe they got Colbert! WHAT A STAB!!!
This really feels like a Mr. Show sketch.
3:52 bob odenkirk is a genuinely caring dude because he looks to confirm before finishing the bit
He even brought in some Tim and Eric humor at the end with the handstab show.
you can really tell that odinkirk was at the writers table on this one. signature
celebrity handstab was actually hillarious
This was classic Colbert. Amazing
just before 2:30 when Bob Odenkirk says "Jim" too but quieter kills me
ha! Good catch it's around 2:25 though, and Odenkirk tries to say the whole thing Colbert is saying "...think we have a clip, Jim."
I still love this bit. I re-watch it every few months.
Stephen Colbert as Bob Odenkirk looks like Robert Downy Jr.
the handstab was such a tim&eric moment. Bob was great in that show.
This is some top notch late show right here. I'mma play this for a decade
this is that old Mr. Show type of magic
Celebrity hand stab is a show I desperately need in my life.
I'm still laughing at celebrity hand stab.
This was so milquetoast throughout the delivery...and then we all got Celebrity Hand Stabbed in the heart. Well done, Mr. Odenkirk.
That was *chef's kiss* pure comedy. It hit the spot and imma need a moment
So glad this came back up in recommendations. Lol, I love this clip so much - the meta is amazing. Bob Odenkirk needs to get the recognition, and appreciation he deserves!
Okay, okay. This was actually clever. I'm impressed.
That was so bizarre. I love it.
I love bobs sense of humor
Bob is absolutely hilarious, he is a comedy badass
That ending came out of nowhere 🤣
1:44 "One day backstage they had egg salad sandwiches, and I stuck tuna in--"
XD this helped me realize i missed that part due to the bickering
This feels very Mr. Show and I love it.
I am not high enough for this
On another note, I love that Colbert is perfectly aware of his lack of fucks in celebrity interviews.
"It's meta. A-bed gets it."
*Abed solemnly shakes head*
I love to hate that Pierce always mispronounced Abed's name. It suited the character so well.
I would watch this movie a thousand times.
Bob is a genius! he just turned someones elses show into his another episode of his own show.
Great sketch. Bob and Stephen are some of your finest Americans. Keep them safe.
I Died, "Stephen it isn't easy seeing yourself portrayed." 🤣🤣🤣
these are the kind of gags I love colbert for
“CLAP! You pigs!”
Lmao this is the funniest thing Stephen Colbert ever did in his Late Show career
He's so handsome and funny. "Celebrity Hand Stab" is so purely Odenkirk
Odenkirk is a legend when it comes to late night interviews. He almost always has a bit prepared, and this is one of the best. True comedy gneius!
I slipped into a parallel universe by watching this.
Odenkirk->Colbert->Odenkirk ~ Schrodinger’s Cat ∴ Schrodencolbert
Schrodenkirkbert
This comment both is and isn't Schrode's Kittay at the same time. But it could be. Or maybe it isn't. It's all relative. And completely unrelated. Ya know? Or maybe you don't.
Just love this. Thank you to both these geniuses.
The sheer absurdity of this made me laugh more than I ever have of a Late Show segment ^^
Bob Odenkirk showed you can play one rule just one rule extremely good and seize the hearts
Wow that was brilliant, amazing to see the culmination of two intelligent comedians like that, even if it was just a small dose. But damn bob that really was a mean portrayal of a colbert show opener, if you were acting like you hate stephen in reality you really nailed it I guess.
"acting like you hate stephen in reality" He was joking. He's a comedian.
@@thebrazilianatlantis165 Apparently this is hard for some people to process
This is truly amazing in every possible way.
