- Firstly, I don't know how I'm still awake given the hour or so of rough sleep I managed to get this morning after work, That and being ill don't give for a great combination...But I was just practicing this solo earlier and thought I finally have it down well enough for a recording!
Gear used:
Washburn USA Custom Shop Dime 3 Slime
MXR 6 band (blue)
Furman PQ4
dbx 266xl compressor/gate
Randall RG80ES
MXR 126 Flanger/Doubler
Marshall "1960 Vintage" cab with celestion v30's
Shure SM57
Focusrite Saffire PRO 14
This cover is IDENTICAL to the original. The tone, the playing, everything. Amazing job
Sick vibrato dude.
First thing I noticed. And his effortless legato
Nailed the tone dude, good job, one of if not the best I've seen someone else play this
Thanks! I'm still going to practice it some more in the future for a full cover, as there are parts that still need brushing up on /,,/
I'd love to know the reason someone down voted this. Dude freakin nails it!
ha thanks! Haters gonna hate I guess haha.
Domicidal Covers how much you spend for that guitat dude ive always wanted that exact one but its like ive gotta cut off my dick in order to get one....
Domicidal Covers and how tf did you have the patience to save that much....
Jealousy
damn... only 2 mths ago i commented this
FLAWLESS
That's was spot on
Best thing UA-cam to do with with Dime is this guy.
Gorgeous tone
Beautiful guitar, beautiful playing, beautiful sounding. Can't even tell the difference from the original song!
Nailed it! Very well done.
Thanks! Much appreciated! /,,/
Don't know whether to be more impressed by the tone or the playing, great job man!
Thanks, as long as the vid was enjoyable then I'm happy! Ha.
Really good cover, and the Washburn I've always wanted hahah
flawless
The most important part of playing the guitar is phrasing and vibrato....Dimebag mastered his voice and you portrayed it beautifully🤘
It makes me so happy when I hear people acknowledge the phrasing and ESPECIALLY vibrato in guitar playing in general, so it means more when I'm complimented on mine since I take a lot of pride in vibrato and always say to new players how important it is. Thanks muchly for that compliment!
@@DomicidalCovers no problem brotha, I agree with you the guitar is a string instrument and like other string instruments such as the violin, vibrato and phrasing are everything!🤘
Fantastic, brother.
You seem to be one of the better Pantera cover guitarists. Since I can't find a good video of it, would you consider doing a cover for "It Makes Them Disappear"?? Pretty please??
Ha thanks! Yeah I think I have that one on the list already! /,,/
That was badass and sounded just like the original
that was so clean!!
That tone is solid
I just need a Randall Century to get it even MORE solid!
Dammit. I thought I was good. Fml. Killer tone and nice work. Puts me to shame. Thanks for the amazing vid and cover.
Best cover
Awesome tone can't lie
ha thanks! /,, /
On the money! Perfect!🤘
Best walk solo cover ever.
So perfect!
That was clean 👏
That's amazing
That was great!
FFS man! That tone is fucking perfect!! Your vibrato and your timing is so on point! Fucking brilliant!
That vibrato would have made Dime proud. Great job!
Vibrato is key, and mine is something I'm quite proud off. Thanks! /,,/
Clean and straight ! Perfect dude !
Gotta love shavo odadjian playing pantera songs
Well shit.. That's a new one!
Domicidal Covers hahahaha ik
The tone is on fucking point awesome dude 🤘🤘😎
Damnnnn, you good
Perfect
Glad you think so! It's close but never will be perfect though!🙂
Awesome! Maybe someday I'll be as good as you..
Clean!
well done dude nice cover \m/
Perfect!
AWESOME
cool !!!
love the shirt and the solo
That Amp looks like it is really soft
haha. My cat seems to think it's a good scratch post aswell -___-
badass dude
Where'd your hair go man?? Haha youre still metal as fuck
I was thinning pretty badly and I've always known it was coming, so I already decided I was going to get rid of it all before it got too obvious.. Been gone nearly 4 years now and I miss it more than anything, but it's something I just have to deal with I guess!
deanml1986 Hey dude, please email me a pic of your pq4. If you can also please send me a pic of your six band eq.
deanml1986 hey
Sick playing man, where did you buy the guitar?
Thanks muchly! Got the guitar on Ebay over 5 years ago now... Things have obviously changed a lot since then.
Fucking nailed it
spot. fkn. on
Still needs work, but I'm pretty happy with it! Thanks so much! /,,/
We haved the reincarnation of dime
Great work man.. \m/
What cheat codes did you use ?
How do you have the wammy bar setup blocked in the back to only go one way?
Were you asking if I do? or how I do it? I don't have it blocked at all! I don't think I even had the bar on for this video.
Smooth as fuck 👏
Rad
The tone comes from the red beard
Such a good cover that it got copyrighted.
@@ChaseThePinballWizard 🤣
Nice! String gauge please. 💪
Thanks! I always use a pack of 9-42 gauge, but swap the 42 for a 46 like Dime did 😉
How long did it take you to learn your first proper song on guitar?
That's a tough question to answer in all honesty, since I've been playing for a good 19 years now I think! I really can't remember what song I learned first in full, but it probably didn't have a guitar solo because I started out playing things like Green Day, Nirvana, Chillis, Blink 182, then became slightly obsessed with Metallica. The rest is history as they say haha.
@@DomicidalCovers nice man, I've been playing a few months but feel like I've hit a roadblock. I cant play any full songs yet. All I can play properly is the outro to floods and the rhythm parts of walk
@@whytewavestudios3039 Ah. One thing I'll point out is that you'll realise with time how much more there is to playing than just learning notes to riffs and songs, all the intricacies of someone's playing style and technique come to light the more you progress, So if lead licks and solos are what you're having trouble with, then don't worry about not playing a full song, as long as you can have fun playing certain riffs and licks, that's all that matters, you will get there eventually. Just try to learn as many different riffs and licks as you can though to help build up your arsenal, but also so you don't get bored!
The beginning stages of learning are where you need to be the most patient, I remember it being really tough and wanting to learn lots of things that I knew I couldn't play yet, but with time you will get past a certain point where countless doors will open up and you'll find you'll have too many songs and riffs to play and won't be able to choose! It's all about patience and dedication, but remembering to have fun and enjoy it is what will get you through. /,,/
@@DomicidalCovers thank you for the helpful words. I've learnt a lot of scales and am starting theory. My worst technique is vibrato I cant seem to do it properly lol
hey bro, congrats, do washburn dimeslime have a angle neck, or straight, and the deans with floyds, angled or straight?
man are you using 0.10 strings?
I think I usually use 9-42 but with a 46 for the 42.
Tone and vibrato all come from the beard I guess
Haha, that makes sense.
Super scooped mids
Actually that's a common misconception about his tone! Some of the mids are scooped, mainly on the amp, but they're actually boosted before the amp ;)
hey dude, some guy on instagram named brunohenriqueguitar took your audio from this cover and is claiming its his, pretending to play over it.
Thanks so much for telling me this! I'm going to try and contact him first, but I have a feeling I won't get anywhere. I also get the feeling I've seen his videos before, is he known for stealing audio? 🤔
@@DomicidalCovers Yes, 100%. He apparently tagged another guitarist in there and then harassed her when she told him to take his fake bs somewhere else, using alt accounts on her instagram and youtube. Dude needs to be shut down.
That tone is on point
How could it not be? 100% authentic Dimebag gear!
shouldve used the bridg pickup though
Dime played the solo on the neck pickup
@@Amber57499 still easy to mess his tone up.
@@tierankarb no he didn't
This is the best cover of this solo ive seen
Chrome_Heart, aside from Zakk Wylde's cover, hell yeah. This kid nailed it.
ARE YOU TALKING TO MEE?!
Christopher Moss nah
NO WAY PUNK!
Go on home boy
YES I AM
@@dirtcobain7777 DUDE ITS YOU AGAIN!!
Everything was perfect apart from 0:17 - I need to relisten because it'll no doubt be me that's wrong, but is there a gap of silence there? No slide up to the 15th fret or pitch scrape? 🤔
Nope! You're 100% right, it's why I will never say that I've properly nailed it, I never thought about the sliding up though, thanks for pointing that out, I'm actually pissed off at myself now because I can't believe I missed it!! I knew that part wasn't right, but just put it down to me not holding that bend long enough because I do that a lot when recording videos as I worry I might fuck up the transition, I don't even mean to do it either 🤣
Thanks for pointing that out, you've got a good ear. I'll definitelly have to redo this solo now!
@DomicidalCovers Jeez, I feel bad now. Honestly, the rest of those nuances and tone were flawless. I only raise that particular slide because no one ever does it in their covers online, and my OCD couldn't take it 😬 Brilliant video though, one of the best I've heard. Even your vibrato was Dimebag-authentic. Most people have too much or not enough...yours was 🤌
No one on UA-cam at least plays this cover better than you do. Amazing job brother.
Thanks! Check out Atilla Voros though, he's the one who dissects Dime's playing, I would do the same but I just don't have the time.
Sweet!!!
I wouldnt use the word "identical" just yet, though, it IS the best cover out there AND it is obvious that this guy could do "identical" if he wanted to.
If that was supposed to be a reply to Miguel, then I definitely cannot do identical haha, no one can, this cover is pretty flawed in my eyes, but I'm a perfectionist so I'll never be happy haha. Thanks for the compliment though!
I'm not a guitarist, so I think 00:25 is funny. :D
Ha I used to love stuff like that when I was a kid before picking up a guitar, I think the first thing I did was do that trick and laugh! XD
it is for guitarists too lmao
its kinda funny when other people do it but Dime just makes it look cool asf.
WTF, THAT ARTAUD GUITAR.
Perfection.
Hands down best cover of this solo 🔥🔥 Make it look so easy
Amazing! Excellent job!
Bro's play and tone Sooo Good, he's getting copyright
Hey man, how did you get this tone? Asking from 5 years in the future.
Gear is all in the description👍but if you want a more in-depth answer I have a video on using all the gear, but it's mainly only useful for people who own it.
Proper mental and on point in all areas, madness dude 🤘
How long did it take you to learn this i just started to learn it and that first part I cant even get at half speed
Oh I don't even remember! Usually if I'm struggling with something, I end up coming back to it at a later date, but sometimes if I'm not bothered about how I play it, I might leave it even longer, which I think is what I did hear. I learned the basic notes many years ago, but over time as my ear improved and I stopped reading tabs, I was able to start picking out nuances and learn how important timing and groove is with this kind of solo! After all these years though, I'm still not happy with how I play that first part, so don't worry about it, just learn the picking pattern, and practice slowly with a metronome if it helps, even if it's snail-pace speed, just practice at a speed that you can play it easily enough at, then gradually increase the tempo, you WILL get it, just keep going at it! /,,/
Sweet shirt
Thanks! It's a tour shirt I bought from their merch stall a few years ago when they played in my city, which was a rare treat for me! /,,/
con la guitarra de pescados rabioso cualquiera
Hands down the BEST cover of this I’ve ever heard, the tone, the harmonics, the dive, rock on dude!🤘🤘
That guitar is fucking beautiful. And your playing is SOLID!! Absolutely spot on dude!
Can you says pefecsheeown?
Basist Of Sistem Of a Down
Fuck yeah dude!! 🤘🏻
what guage strings do you use for this cover?
I think the gauge I have on this guitar all the time is a set of 9-42, but with a 46 on the low E
hell yea
Holy shit!!! It's very impressive!!
Thanks! 👍🤘
*EPIC!!!*
I'm sorry but if it were my money, I'd say you cheated somehow. Nicely done or nicely hacked....idk
statikreg... This comment really confusedme, sorry haha. in what way do you mean "cheated"? I just set up the tone, placed my Shure SM57 in front of my cabinet and recorded(hense the use of headphones for keeping in time with the backing track).
I just was very impressed with how accurately you reproduced that solo....If I didn't know better, I'd have sworn it was the recording :)
statikreg Thanks, that means a lot! One thing I need to work on is shifting positions faster as the main downside to this solo is I didn't hold notes or bends long enough before going onto the next because I didn't want to screw it up haha.
haha...I didn't even notice until you said that and its still barely noticeable. But at least you're not like some guitarists that are too cocky to even know how to practice! I'm a bass player, myself, but you're still far more advanced than me (keep practicing tho b/c I'm catching up...maybe some day we'll do a shred war if I get that good before arthritis sets in lol)
Wooow Beautifull Tone!!!! Congratss 🤘🏻🔥👊🏻
If you don't mind me asking, what recording equipment are you using?
Every piece of equipment used is in the description :)
deanml1986 Ok so the Focusrite is what you used for recording. What is your opinion on audio interfaces vs something like the Zoom Q4N video/audio recorder? Do you think I will get as good of sound quality on the Zoom as I will with the Scarlett?
Do you have much knowledge with studio recording equipment? because I'm using a Shure SM57 microphone in front of my Marshall Cabinet to capture just my guitar's audio, so I doubt using a camera with built in mics would be the same.
deanml1986 I don't have that much knowledge in regards to studio recording equipment. But the Scarlett Solo doesn't seem that complicated, but I could be wrong. I play guitar and I do covers of songs, and I am trying to find to best way to get the best sound quality. Or at least adequate sound quality. Recording covers with my Smartphone really doesn't sound great.
deanml1986 The Zoom Q4N seems pretty simple and to the point, and from the reviews I've read the sound quality is supposed to be very good. I was just looking to get your opinion.
A ton of covers of this solo on UA-cam, this has to be one of the cleanest and most technically on point with the original. Nice work.
Spot on cover, and your vibrato is 10/10
you should do a video on the settings you use amp wise and eq wise
very good. very very good. firm handshakes all around.
hey man props in the rig bro badass true Dime rig. question?? how much does the top mounted Floyds effect your tone?
and another thing. it looks like he modern Dean ml that isn't made in the USA may not be one whole peice of wood! which is shit
Thanks! both the floyds on my Washburn and Dean aren't top mounted, but I wouldn't think there would be THAT much difference if I were to guess. About the reissue ML models, then yes they have se-necks, that doesn't matter all that much to me as My Washburn is also set neck but it sounds AMAZING, and so thick.
This is the best cover of this solo that I have ever seen. And I've seen a lot.
that's was fucking sic dude!!!
