Excellent lecture Dr. Ambramson. Whenever the subject of "women in history" comes up, it is not easy for Scholars to address without offending many people. Your delivery today was 1st class. I've always felt Jewish women in history have been there at the core with their men throughout daily life. I've heard a quote from years back that I've often used on the subject; "Men are the head, Women are the neck". Where exactly it's roots are, I do not know. Lin Yutang's book, "My Country my People" 1935, is a fabulous read. In it he talks about women in Chinese history, and compares them to ours in the west. I've read little others that have ever covered this subject so thoroughly. Thank You.

Is there a difference between Sephardic and Ashkenazi women's history?

A quick note. Thank you very well done. Very useful summary. [Not to nit pick as you may have mis-spoken: Yael killed Sisera; Holofernes(?) was killed by Yehudit -- in the Book of Judith.]

Dear dr. Abramson, Maggie Anton has written two very fine novels (in my opinion) about the daughter of Rav Hisda which I liked very much. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WTJV6YE/ref=series_rw_dp_sw
As far as I could see (unless I missed it) you didn’t do a lecture (yet) on Hannah Arendt? I would like to hear your take on her life. I enjoyed the lecture on Golda Meir and also that on Sarah Bernhardt (I had a preview on Robert Gottlieb’s book and as you said, it seems very readable, so it’s on my reading list.)

It happens. Especially to people who know a lot...
