The father was right to lie. I’m sure he already told them to the right things many times but they never listened. Lying was his last resort and he was absolutely right to do that.
We grew up with neighbor friends that started out dirt poor. The wife had 3 kids and they lived in a 1 bedroom apartment. The living room had bunk beds and TV was only watched during the evening to 8pm as the bedroom was used as a study. The kids mom was the reason the kids were so smart and had it together. However, the father's eye clinic did very well and he opened a few business that worked like LensCrafters but it took longer to grind the lenses back then. Then the father had a franchise of these centers. When my friend and I turned 13 he moved up on the hill in a huge house and his parents each had nice cars. He went to private schools where the pressure to be smarter was greater. My friend got into drugs with his two sisters and there was a total breakdown in the family. The parent we heard were having affairs. There wasn't any cohesion left in the house hold. Their psychiatrist told the parents it was their fault. Each came from humble beginnings and when they got rich they forgot about their kids. The kids being totally spoiled rotten were about to undergo an experiment and the parents signed them over to a hospital that put them on a farm. And each time the kids sneaked off back to home, the hospital would come claim them again. Meanwhile the parents were both in therapy and eventually got back together. They sold their mansion for a house of humble roots as the kids returned home two years later each cleaned up nicely. My friend told me all about living at the ranch and the duties he hated at first but loved them in the end so much that he joined the Air Force to become his own man. His parent had nothing but pride for him. Today he owns a big farm near Reno Nevada.
That is movie material for real!

The name of the movie is so perfect according to characters. Spoiled Brats in story the children didn't cared when they wasted money and time on useless things. But they become angry and stopped talking their father when they realized that their father wanted them to become responsible and capable people.
There's nothing wrong with teaching your children about hard work and independence. Some of them are really spoilt and need to be taught a lesson that life isn't and won't always be easy

Watching this video reminds me of when I got married years ago. When my parents and my sister came, they stayed with me and my future wife. I was working and money was not an issue. Before I got married my mother told me that Carol was not a good woman because she said that I was boasting about myself which was wrong. She said to me, who knows a woman better than a woman, I had no answer, she said a woman. I paid for the food, and I borrowed the equipment from the restaurant and used my friends pizza to buy and make the food, the reception was at her parents house. I still to that day should have taken my mother's advice but it have 3 kids and CAROL has passed away. And I am happy living by myself with my car. I am semi retired but still looking as I am on social security after working for 50 years.
