  • We answered a couple of common questions we get and did a depth test on our DIY hookah rig and chased some fish around the marina.
    The depth was checked on a leonardo cressi dive computer.
    As we get closer to getting our boat ready to sail we look forward to learning to sail and doing some wreck diving on the lake.
    Please like, share, and subscribe and thank you for watching.

    For the air intake there is actually small filters already made for compressor you can buy. "Compressor air filter" or just 1/4 or 3/8 air filter. can find them cheap.
    Have 2 of the same regulators, never had a problem with it (i guess you already know you put a screwdrive inside the hose screw to adjust it, no real need to open the front cover) if its hard to breath its due to low pressure from the compressor.
    I would suggest you to add 2 water/oil filter after the tanks it may not seem necessary since its an oilless design but there is alot of condensed water being shoved down your lungs which happens thanks to pressure. In my setup i have 3 filters in a row and manage to get water in 2 water/oil separators only the 3rd is empty.
    Watched your DIY build before i actually decided to test it myself. due to lack of 12v compressors around here and parts i just went with a 220v oil less compressor and inverter instead it works amazing and since its a more powerful compressor we can run 2-3 people.

    The audio is a little difficult to hear and I missed the brand of that pump. So glad I researched options before starting this project.

    Thanks for the info... got my build idea from someone else tho I got it to work from this vid n a bit of tinkering...
    Tho I almost made my mouth piece leak non stop. Basically I f"d up bad n had to take it completely apart but found a flat head where the mouthpiece attaches to the airline.
    Long story short theres a brass fitting that turn right for less air turn left for for more... with a combo of the 6mm nut inside and the brass fitting where it meet the hose I got mine tuned awesome!

      @@sujstet @sujstet somebody else mentioned that some cheap regulators don't have an adjustment. If you disconnect the hose that attaches to the reg, there should be a couple of slots that let you screw the adjustment screw in or out with a flathead screwdriver. ua-cam.com/video/wkU2OB_fkVg/v-deo.htmlsi=iavu11PThY18sLvZ

    Great video, I am building one of these and have most all the parts purchased. I did get the same cheap Chinese regulator and am wondering how you adjust it. All other regulators are adjusted with a screwdriver after removing the air hose. There is no slot for a screwdriver in this opening. Do I need to remove front cover, loosen lock nut and turn out the mechanism on the inside to make adjustment?
    Thanks!

    how many liters per minute is that pump 120lpm or the 160lpm

    • @dananorth895
      @dananorth895 Рік тому

      160 lpm but its only at about 17 psi. Even the lenght of hose will effect delivery of air as well as depth and interior diameter of hose/ fittings. 1 person at best use.

    • @dananorth895
      @dananorth895 Рік тому

      I think I've heard 17 psi. they all seem to be the same. Technically there low pressure, low head aquarium/pond air pumps.
      The pro sys use higher quality, better rated pumps with much higher outputs 50-90psi.
      This is what you call a budget cheap system. Any strenuous activity is dificult and dangerous. Best for 3-6' up to 6-10' with Low/little activity.

    Thanks for the build. I'm getting ready to build a similar system possibly using left over fire extinguishers. My question is, how is the ACQ compressor holding up? I can't find one locally here in central Calif. so it has to come from China and is 2 months away. Would you do it again? Thanks for the help.

      @@sailingboreas1062 Hey Dave, found a compressor Amazon says they can get to me in 6 days Prime (no shipping) at " HEALiNK DC 12V 160LPM/Min 2536GPH 120W Aquarium Air Pumps Aquaculture Fish pood Pressure Compressor Aerator" for $90 if it helps anyone else....and they come through.
      I built a similar system with the same regulator 'cept I used a 3/4 hp 2 gal. Sanden compressor from my garage. It worked great for cleaning the bottom of my old Ericson 29 except it would trip a thermal switch after about 40 minutes. I'm assuming I was just maxing the duty cycle with all that scrubbing.
      Hopefull the ACQ 910 wont have the same issue as it's designed to run constantly. (100% duty cycle?)
      I do have a rookie question for ya though. Where does all the air go the diaphragm is pushing when it's not being used (regulator or blow gun closed)? Does it have an internal bypass to keep it from destroying itself?
      Thanks

      @@reelmanmi I've used the compressor for an hour straight with no issues. I installed a pop off valve in mine so, if it was to over pressure it would not crater. I treat this just like any dive and take surface intervals after an hour under water 30 - 45 minutes minimum between dives. I did add one extra feature to this build I installed a bulkhead fitting in the plastic cover and installed a 1/4 in air compressor intake filter.

    • @reelmanmi
      @reelmanmi 4 роки тому

      @@sailingboreas1062 I think I remember you saying you installed a 20psi pop off. Are the pop off valves adjustable or do I buy a 20lb. valve?
      I'm thinking of doing something similar to your bulkhead connector in the cockpit so I can just grab the hose, plug it in, throw the switch and get to it. My concern is, if I mount the unit in a lazarette or anchor locker, is it going to get too hot and fail prematurely.
      I'm getting all these heads up ideas from your videos and responses to others questions so you know you're providing a worthy benefit, Capt.
