Raga Bhairavi and the Viribhoni varnam are immortal pieces. What an exposition on violin by the three brothers in all the kalams. The Bhairavi varnam is supposed to be a very difficult item to play or sing .Pleasure to listen this immortal varnam.
A master piece in the history of Indian music which may not be breakble even after 100 years.my soulful pranaamams to Dr L S sir& his brothers also to the MASTER MRIDAMGAM vidwan sri Palghat T S Mani iyyer sir.
The three brothers performed together for an old Malayalam song titled 'Kattuchembakam Poothulayumbol', from the film 'Velutha Kathreena' (1968).. They did a good job in bringing the emotion of the song through their playing style..
Dr. L. Subrananium, internationally renowned violinist highly respected, regarded as top musician. Sir, the photographs ate cute and beautiful, in your childhood days,. There are no words sir, you are top of the world. Your son Ambi is also great sir. Sashtangama ungallukku namaskarams pandren . All the best to you and your family. God bless you.

Thank you for posting this priceless gem. It is priceless in many ways. The photo where the trio play with the Doyen of Mridangam in the no-microphone era is outstanding!
Trio of young brothers!! A big practice on raga Bairavi of this famous well-known varnam Viribhoni for Carnatic music students!! But, here, it becomes a pure jewel!! "with Palghat Mani on Mridangam & L. Subramaniam!!!
I was 13 something, year was 1976-77 I don't remember, Violin Trio "Mikeless Concert" at Old Parthasarathy Swamy Sabha Hall, VR Pillai St, Triplicane Madras. I was learning Mridangam from my Second Guruji, Sri.TR Harihara Sharma ( my first Guru was Sri S.Venkatrathnam, SV as he was called in Critic circle and he was a disciple of Tinniyam Venkatarama Iyer) and TRH mama took All the students to listen to this Concert but we were seated 15-16 rows behind...But we could hear every note and every Sollu and we were all just mesmerized and that day I realised This is The Real Mridangam Playing and nothing else. Then I learnt from Tanjore Subramanian sir and later from Palghat Raghu sir. And till date I am unable to accept any other forms or Bhani as my favourite or acceptable format. I also greatly adore PSP sir's melody and Ghumikis...
This is 3-in1 Violin, means One sound played by Three. Out of the Three, I would Rate Shankar as most talented and versatile and then Subramaniam who went world wide and Vaidyanathan who went into cine Music and Spoiled his career and vidwath. Nothing is Heard from Shankar in India.
Sorry to contradict. Vaidyanathan was an amazing Carnatic musician, with his knowledge of ragas being equal to an ocean. L Subramaniam is amazing too. L Shankar was the person who spoilt his vidwath in Carnatic Music, but is immensely talented nevertheless. We are nobody to grade the legends. Please stop comparing legends.
@@thalaivarda Sri L Shankaran’s playing of Abheri and RTP in Raga Savithri on a teen stringed violin are among the best. Just a statement. All the brothers are highly gifted and made enormous contribution in their own ways
That's like three people playing one violin - splendid !

Imagine Mani Iyer sir playing for siblings , touch his feet SIMPLY AMAZING
Those siblings are among the greatest and most renouned violinists in the world... Respect to all 4

Varna usually is for practice... Not for entertainment. Raga bhava can be seen here and there. But here every note I can see Bhairavi flowing .....
