Colin is switching up a bit during this interview and Adam Silver won’t be able to fix the league; it’s obvious in this interview. Here’s how you fix it: 1) Players don’t care enough anymore because the contracts are fully guaranteed and the money paid out to mid-level players is way too high. So, do what the NFL does with contracts. Players will automatically be incentivized when the money isn’t guaranteed. 2) Bring back defense by making it physical again via hand checking etc. If every NFL game was 49-45, it’d water down the product. Basketball needs defense, just as much as offense. 3) Promote new players and build a story like the NBA on NBC used to on Sundays. Also, switching the floor and a new jersey/colors won’t fix fundamental issues. There are others, but it begins here.
Allow players to play d again. Excessive threes are def a problem. No complexity to the game anymore. No post up game. No mid range. Traditional big man has been phased out. Just threes and uncontested layups. Snooze fest style of play. No real coaching either. Just jack up threes.
He single-handedly ruined the NBA, all these unnecessary renaming of the trophies, too many jerseys, and empowering the players too much, worst commissioner in sports
i'm glad to finally see someone mention the amount of jerseys lol every time i see an NBA game on, it's almost impossible to tell what team is what from looking at them because they are wearing 7 different alternates and changing them every season, teams like the Utah Jazz seem to have 5 different color schemes at once, it's just stupid and the NBA Cup might be the pinnacle of turning the NBA into a joke, if you have to incentivize your own millionaire players to care about playing during the season with even more money and a fake trophy in a made up tournament, then that's just sad

All the best players with the exception of LeBron,Garnett and Kobe all went to college for 2-4 years: Jordan,Shaq,Hakeem, Steph etc. 1 and done just dilutes the league and the are almost never ready
And college basketball was way better when teams had juniors and seniors playing minutes, and guys who have played together two years and two summers sometimes more. And a freshman 4star “star” still if not just handed the spot probably not more effective than the 3star junior college transfer playing ahead of him
I’ve always agreed with Colin regarding his college take. Domestic fans love watching their favorite players grow from the college game and onto professional sports. Its the reason why the NFL dominates US ratings, its why fans love Caitlin Clark/Angel Reese, and its why the NBA skyrocketed in popularity in the 80s-90s. Congrats to colin for asking the questions. But silver literally defended himself more than nba players defend during regular season. Its clear the nba needs new leadership
I’m glad people are realizing he is a horrible Commissioner. The league has no identity. Best players don’t play. Too many 3’s making it unwatchable… that 08-2018 era was must see NBA. Now every team looks the same. And I gotta watch Cole Anthony cook the Knicks. That wouldn’t happen 10 years ago. Bring back hand check defense. I was see physical defense. The wimps sit out anyways, might as well make it physical
Id like them to actually call carries and travels. The aggressive pivot dragging, first step without a dribble, carrying is brutal. Bob Cousey is probably calling Silver about thst more than anything. Imagine Cousey could carry, he'd have the greatest handles ever.
I know it won't fix the whole problem but I think players should have to give a 2-3 day warning before missing a game for load management and the NBA should refund the tickets and give the family tickets to any upcoming game.
What A Great Interview, Great Show and Some (Some) Great Answers, didn't agree with all answers though if players are too Old or Injuries Prone to Honor their contracts then I suggest they Retire. It's unfair to Player on other teams or players that has dedicated their careers to playing all 82 games unless they are truly hurt.👍💯
Darn, Commissioner Silver is good at dodging those hard questions. I am an optimistic with the NBA. It's perhaps the most international sport after soccer. NBA stars have a huge international following. Something is not clicking at home though and I hope they figure it out.
I had my issues with David Stern but at least he was transparent about his desire to make as much money as possible for the NBA. Silver is equally money hungry but disguises it with his unwavering support of the players. He showed his true colors when Darryl Morey criticized the Chinese government and Silver shut him down immediately. Can’t lose that Nike sweatshop money!
Big part of what's going on in the NBA is the coaching. Players shoes falling off in games, Players stepping on the out of bound line on the baseline, Players not following their shot, not getting back on defense. Everybody jacking up 3s but your 7 footer can't post up, block shots or rebound. These are the things coaching should fix. If you can't fix these things you should not be coaching. Players doing what they want is destroying MY once glorious game. My opinions.
such a JOY to have Adam Silver on the show. Will definitely not SKIP it. Jokes aside tho, Adam Silver gotta fix the NBA. Here are my personal suggestions: 1) Reduce the games to 47 from 82. Here is the breakdown: Play each team in your division thrice (12 games) Each non-division conference team twice (20 games) Each team in other conference once (15 games) More urgency will lead to the consumer wanting to watch every game. Also, when we know that the Celtics and Warriors, or the Knicks and the Lakers play once, we for sure wanna watch that game. Key for this to work is keep the season length the same, so each team plays twice a week. This will prevent load managing. Another bonus here will be to start the season on Christmas, and have the playoffs in June, July and finals in August. There is nothing major going on in those months, no football or soccer. So you are not competing with NFL for viewership. 2) For a while atleast, make the playoffs top 16 instead of East and West. There is no way Warriors or Wolves miss the playoffs while the Pistons might get in. 3) Fix the defence. Bring back hand checking and remove 3 second violation. This way, you dont have to limit three point attempts as a rule as defenders can play the shooters physically. 4) Bring atleast local games to TV, I should not have to pay 6 services to watch my local team. 5) Start marketing your young players and stop relying on LeBron and Steph for ratings. Put Wemby, Ja, Ant etc. on national TV more so you got an audience when LeBron retires
I’m only in favour of your first point but I’d like something like 60 games. The reduction should be gradual. The players want to play that’s a fact, but the games are so many that’s why they load manage. Keep them healthy, 2 games a week the urgency from consumers & the marketing & ratings will follow suit. I wouldn’t tweak the rules of the game just yet.
for goodness sake, just allow the teams to hand-check, bring back some defense! stop calling techs for players showing emotion. call travelling! problem solved.

After watching this interview I believe more than ever that the NBA is cooked
Bring back defense Adam... Need balance... Rebounders and defense used to be a way carve out a nice career
It’s the run and chuck era
What A Great Interview, Great Show and Some (Some) Great Answers, didn't agree with all answers though if players are too Old or Injuries Prone to Honor their contracts then I suggest they Retire. It's unfair to Player on other teams or players that has dedicated their careers to playing all 82 games unless they are truly hurt.👍💯
The only thing Adam Silver wants to know is that did you tap Joy too?
Here are my personal suggestions:
1) Reduce the games to 47 from 82. Here is the breakdown:
Play each team in your division thrice (12 games)
Each non-division conference team twice (20 games)
Each team in other conference once (15 games)
More urgency will lead to the consumer wanting to watch every game.
Pistons are easily better than the Warriors this year and I’m a Steph fan. Watch the games and you’d know that
You can't make that many changes overnight. That would take them decades to accomplish all those ideas.
@ come playoffs is the wolves/warriors played the Pistons, who u picking? come on man you know who's better here
You realize Adam Silver isn't a dictator? The owners make those decisions, not him.
I have never seen someone so uncomfortable being interviewed.
for goodness sake, just allow the teams to hand-check, bring back some defense! stop calling techs for players showing emotion. call travelling! problem solved.
NBA League pass is the biggest pile of garbage out there
