It's also been motivating for me as I coincidentally started my own gm6 project at around the same time as you. Nearly done with mine now but your vids have been keeping me motivated the whole way through. Can't wait to see it all finished up! btw I am actually an artist myself and do a ton of painting. I highly recommend getting into it! You don't have to give up on cars but it's a great hobby to have! My coupe has gone surprisingly smooth, considering it's my first Subaru. I've been in the sw20 MR2 world for a while now and wanted to try something new. The body work was the bigger challenge for me. It's my first time welding patch panels. I had one rust hole on each side near the rear quarters. Right where the side trim clips go into the body. Took me a good few attempts but ended up with a result I'm confident in. Obviously I didn't go nearly to the extent you have, but you've inspired me to try many things I wouldn't have thought I could do before!
Crazy how reminiscent this is! Did a lot of the same mods on mine…iwire-d 07sti ecu to a 04 sti dccd running gear and an 04xt heart. Ran all custom fueling as well
On my Sti swapped gc I am using a complete 04 Sti drivetrain with sti knuckles, Sti Ebrake parts and Sti Ebrake cables. All bolted right up and works as it should.

I ran into a similar issue on my SF5 Forester STI, putting 02 WRX Wagon suspension on - many online said it bolted up, it did in the front but not the rear - in reality I needed GC wagon suspension. I opted to just drill out the mounting holes slightly longer (oval shape holes now, and prime and paint the holes after). been 6 months, no problems. I am just super cheap...
Another thing to remember when getting coilovers is that if you have a wagon the rear ones are taller. So if you get sedan rears they will be shorter and have less of a spring rating than wagon will. Another thing, if you do a Forester STI same applies there, you'll have saggy butt if you swap STi rear subframe in and don't change strut body.

That Otofix is pretty dope, I wouldn't mind one. One friend of mine has this bluetooth dongle that works via app, but you have to pay a fee for each manufacturer or something, he didn't describe it to me in detail. Another friend who is a mechanic has this crazy like $5000 scan tool tablet thing, I'd assume it's Snap On since that's what most of his stuff is. I think this thing fits in well like right in the middle of those two.

Thick 5 spoke, it's hard to beat the Volk 21c or 21c spec SR. In bronze of course. Even if you're bouncing around progress is progress don't feel bad about it
Why not power the fuel pumps off of 2 of the HCOs on the R3? Gets rid of the need to have the relays for the pumps and allows for easy fuel pump staging using the PDM functionality of the R3.
Little dorky but I can't wait to see what you do with the pinion flange on the r180. I have a similar issue as well when it comes to my current build (06 fxt / jdm forester 6 speed and rear diff). Jdm vs usdm subtle differences in pinion flange sizes.
@Smeedia my driveshaft does fit and is ok , but those things, especially the u-joints, which aren't serviceable, are bound to fail & when it does i will have to deal with sourcing driveshaft with the correct flange in order to bolt up to rear diff. I got lucky with this one.
Ya that’s a front outer doj with a rear inner for sure. The one on the far right is correct 100% rear axle. But they are 2 different lengths in the rear so be warned.
I sure hope that isn’t actually 4 gauge wire.. that is definitely not large enough for a trunk mount battery to be reliable and not have too much voltage drop for all the accessories and Haltech. Usually want at least 1/0 or larger, but definitely run dedicated ground to the block like you did!
Rear e brake was deleted and replaced by a hydro hand brake set up. With the lock to use as e brake. And no I don’t trust it forever since it’s hydraulic but it works great and IV never had an issue…. Yet.
Yo Tanner, I’m pretty sure the E-brake is fine I have a 03 Blobeye STI and the cable looks exactly the same, same length to the shoes. Hope this helps 😊
The cable is probably correct. You need to install it completely and the slack pulled out. The spring on the brake end will be slightly compressed. You don't have the cable pulled tight forward. I should not be able to see the cable where it comes out of the back plate at 16:57.
You should run the GD top hat with them swapped left to right. It turns them so that when you add camber you add caster which is very beneficial in a gc8
Absolutely not, there is not reason to re-drill and slot the Factory top hat mounts in the chassis. If I REALLY need to adjust caster I can do it off the LCA from the subframe
@@Smeedia you do not need to redrill the chassis at all. If you run the GD top hats with them on the left and the right swapped then you get perfect camber and caster adjustment. Trust me time attack and drift guys have been doing it for a long time
@@Smeedia We are just talking about the front. The rear I would've done exactly what you did. The GD has more static castor than a GC, so being able to gain caster while adding negative camber is quite advantageous.
Apparently I can't link pictures, youtube deletes the comment. But you showed the GD top hats wrong. It has to be derationed to the firewall. You can, and should, add a bit more caster on the steering arm, but if you go to wild your tire will not be centered on the fender.

Hey, you don't need to run a separate ground cable. Your car is one big ground cable. This tiny copper cable will make no difference. I installed 300Amp speaker systems in my cars and never had grounding issue. I only pull one 0 gage positive power cable and that's it
I mean 1 ground from the battery to the chassie is enough. Every thing else that needs a ground can also pull ground from the chassie (engine, ecu and everything else).
Tanner. For 1, i remember seeing a transmission jack at some poitn so why are you man handling the diff. 2, like you said ,TE's or over played, same with Rega's and DR9's. I say some OG bronze CE28s are in store for this bad boy.

For my swap I used GC parking brake cables and it fit perfectly, STi ones were too long.
The GC cables fit with the Brembos?! Everything I read said they wouldn’t 😤

If you’re looking into wheel options , I’d HIGHLY suggest looking into some Enkei NT03’s, absolutely beautiful wheels that would look so good on it

Using the x4 relays for fan 1, fan 2, ignition and injectors. I can still run them staged. Each fuel pump will be controlled by separate DPOs

Does your driveshaft fit? That’s the biggest issue I’ve ran into on mine. The STI Driveshaft was like 1/4” too short
