Really happy that you featured a Waymark pack in this video.
There are many discussions in r/ultralight about UL fabric; Dyneema vs X-pac vs Robic.
I’m no scientist, but Ecopak fabric is 100% recycled polyester, made without solvent based glues, and offers a solid balance of weight, weather resistance, and rigidity for cost. I’d argue there’s value in that balance of properties.
Great review, hope to see the channel feature more cottage industry makers and gear! 😃

I love my MSR hubba hubba tent. My go to tent when I want extra space over a 1p tent. Handled a crazy thunderstorm on the AT on an exposed ridge in the Roan Highlands area. Blasted with wind and rain flexing the tent all night long and not a scratch on it. Won me over for sure that night!

Your tent is so much nicer than my old A-frame aluminum poled tent that I took backpacking in the 1970’s! My hands would get filthy from the bare aluminum. The separate rain fly worked really well.

There have been two issues with the Hubba Hubba 2/3, and a few of the MSR tents that use the Easton Psyclone poles. First is that several people have gotten slivers from the poles. The other is that a few tents had the taped seams come loose. I own this tent and have a video on my channel showing how to remedy both of these issues.

Question for the tent. Setting up in rain, heavy rain. How long time does it approx take? The whole inner tent gets drenched before you get the fly on. My Tents are from Norwegian brands Helsport and from Barents Outdoor, and I love that the fly can connected to the inner full time.

Could I suggest another pack in the future that fits the same purpose as the Waymark but that I think you would love? The Six Moons Designs Swift X. I think you will love it because it's light at ~40oz, and has the running vest style harness you appreciate so much from the Mystery Ranch Bridger series. I actually ordered the Bridger 35 because I wanted something smaller, than the SMD's total of 51 Liters, for overnighters and weekend trips. That runners style vest has been a game changer for me and I don't think I am ever turning back.

The good changes with the Hubba Hubba new version according to me. Inner tent with roof storage space and different divison reagrding mesh and the white fabric. But not sure if I like the new kind of doors and zippers. Except for that and the cyclone poles that, at least earlier, were not included for tents sold in Europe I prefer the old version. The army/forest green colour was ideal according to me while the new one is not. Also as mentioned the ventilation solution looks strange and seems much better on the old version.

Jetboil FTW! I've been a happy user of their cooking systems for years. I have their other 1.5 liter pot which works well for groups.

MSR bought the hub technology when they acquired Walrus (well, who bought what is more convoluted than that, but that is the short version). Walrus' three way hubs weren't quite so elegant, but neither were MSR's at first. Modern MSR tents are basically a fusion of technologies and design from Moss and Walrus, with some new elements sprinkled in ...

I’m interested in seeing a full review of the MSR tent, especially how it functions in the rain. Are the seams taped, or is MSR still using their proprietary way of stitching the seams to achieve waterproofness, whish is marginal at best. Although a full review won’t touch on it unless you experience a problem, I sincerely hope that MSR’s customer service has improved, because, in my experience, it has been abhorrent in the past. Not cool from a company selling “top tier” gear.

MSR should really consider abandoning that colour, ugk. The colour was my deciding factor why I bought the Copper Spur instead.

  • @stevewright2241

The MSR tent colors go all the way back to Moss tents which they bought out and yes not very attractive. I used to have one of those Moss tents. My ground hog tent stakes have Moss tents on them.

These videos (like almost all others on the net) are aimed at well-heeled, experienced backpackers/hikers. Everything's top dollar. I'm glad there's enough wealthy UA-camrs browsing, keeping these specialists going, but it disappoints me. Where's the gear for less-affluent people wanting to get more outdoors? Where's the gear for the beginning backpacker? Remember what is what like when you were just getting into it, how all the gear overwhelmed you with its technical aspects, its cost? Honestly, remember when the guides (like The Complete Walker) and certainly the small outdoor adventure stores were much, much more aimed at a wide spectrum of hikers? Everybody seems now to have drunk the Koolaid and forgotten to address the wider audience.
