I seriously considered buying a Pivot frame just based on the fact that I really like Bernard. The two deal breakers were the pressfit bb, which is an absolute no in my book after a number of bad experiences, as well as the super boost spacing to the rear hub. I made an investment in boost Chris King hubs several years ago and I intend to buy frames to fit those for the foreseeable future. Hopefully the big boys like Santa Cruz and Specialized will keep the 148mm spacing and super-boost is just a passing fad. There wasn't really anything wrong with 142mm for most riders. You could still run 12-speed on an XD freehub.
I think you put the shock hardware on in the wrong order around 4:10 in the video, thankfully it's a very easy fix. I'm quoting from the Fox eyelet hardware maintenance guide: "The 7-piece Crush Washer eyelet hardware assembly is made up of two beige colored flanged bushings that are pressed into the shock eyelet. A hollow pin is pushed through the flanged bushings and centered by black Delrin spacers and Crush Washers on either side of the eyelet. Thin o-rings go between the spacers and flanged bushings to prevent contamination and premature bushing wear. The Crush Washers have raised domed portions that are depressed before installation and take up any play found between frame and hardware."
Nice Looking Steed looks plenty ready for the spicy stuff, what are those sweet as magnetic tool holders barny has got in the lid of his case for his flash allen wrenches???
I don't know whther or not you're asking this question to help you with your own decision or just because you're interested in his opinion. But if you're asking for yourself you should really do yourself a huge favor and ride the same trail on a 27,5 and a 29er. The thing is both are great. But I bought a 29er just to later find out that I prefer 27,5. Not a huge problem but I still had to spend time reselling and buying a new bike which could have been avoided if I would have simply tried both beforehand.
Yo, I seer you used Shimano dura ace grease in your bottom bracket shell... Is this so you can easily swap bottom brackets, swap for fresh bearings? Seems like it would start creaking at some point with Bernards extreme pedaling forces. No locktite? Just curious as I'm a mechanic at a Pivot dealer. Thanks, boys!
Tell me Barney isn't the best in the game! You see him eye balling Bernard when he was pumping up his tires and they weren't popping....he was like Bernard don't fuck up my build...lol
@@maddog4390 yes, i forgot to update everyone that I found many examples of green grease. Theres Morey Oil Green Grease, theres Penrite 10 tenths green grease, theres a shit ton of it. Its like the shit The Toxic Avenger fell into.
Dream bike right there! 😍 Bernard could you please kindly donate an old firebird 29 for me please much appreciated haha! 😂 I been waiting since April for a new bike and it’s killing me not riding now 😩😆
*Just an awesome **Latest.Bike** ....well constructed, sturdy, great looking…got me back out on the trails!! Could not be happier!!*

Lada man... is that you??
quick pin this comment 🤘
It’s hard to overstate how different this is from a Sam Pilgrim bike build video
Yeah Sam just casually chucks 1000 pound shocks about
No matter who’s channel I’m on I alway see something about Sam pilgrim and how bad he is at assembling bikes
@@oliverfarrer3316 it's true tho 😂 man uses a curb to file his forks 😂
Was going to say exactly the same thing. I love Sam, and he's an amazing rider... but I wouldn't let him fix anything of mine!
@@oliverfarrer3316 I'd say it's more his attitude toward things is different. Not enthusiastic and lacks the passion BK is showing
It would be sick if Barney good give us a tool box tour! His case set up looks mint and i love the way it all fits into a portable case.
Pivot makes sick bikes and their colours are mental😍
What a sick build! Can we please see a complete toolbox check? Barneys toolbox looks incredible 😍
Sick setup, loving the green, big shout out to Barney and all the mechanics, love watching em work, bike asmr for the win. Bikes are the best
Barney the Don
Barney needs his own build and maintenance channel.
+1
Barney is the man, what I'd give for that tool case 😊👍
Brought this exact bike because of your video…. It’s by far the best kit I have ever had.
Just got the orange one. Opted for the black 38. Soooo happy with the way it looks.
good job barney
Such a sick bike possibly my next bike 🤟🏼 that bike build was so good to watch no camera trickery no shitty music 👌
A mountain bike has been born on a mountain. Nice.
Ohhh yess. I was looking everywhere for this build. Thank you Bernard 👍🤘
I watch the vids mostly to see Lada man doing his thing, what a cool dog! 🐶 The bikes and riding are pretty good too 👍
Great. I have a Switchblade; now I just need a Trail 429 and I'm set!
I wish I had a Barney !

What a place Bernard.....thanks ! I hope you are feeling better . Peace
That color is gorgeous
Yea great no one can bloody well get one! Except you!
Well done Barney!
hell of a place to do it
3:38 Black is the new orange dude :-)
Well done barnie
that bike is clean af.
We need a barny tool box review !!!
similar to the colour of a nissan pulsar gti-r, they call it Winter Green, lovely colour
That bike is amazing. That mechanic is a BADASS. I bet that would retail for around $10,000 or maybe even more.
Nice one barney
Great Work Barney..... Top bloke
Who doesn't love green with orange bits?
There is no music😍i love it
I was on that lift you're standing next to thursday😅 I left morzine when this video came out
Oh wait nevermind I taught it was a working lift
You're so lucky to have a amazing sponsor such a nice bike
Atleast he earns it, very busy guy
@@jaydunn2898 I know what you mean mate nothing is free In life but he is a hard worker

Only one thing to say. “NICE”
This bike puts the B in badass.
No way is there a sliver perlecent on it! Such a beauty my dream enduro bike is the firebird! I love them!
Hell of a mechanic! Tell Pivot to make a Mach 5 150/140 trail bike already
that bikes pretty sweet
Awesome build and ride love the format
She's a beaut!
Green FTW
Dream View Build 🤩👍
I was really looking forward to watching Barney use a block of wood to install the press fit bits. Next time.
What an awesome video, can keep watching all day. Does anyone know what grease and gun Barney is using?
so good

Very cool
The tool you used to cut the bars at 3:00, you should be turning CLOCKWISE NOT ANTI-CLOCKWISE. It cuts without needed burred after.
Wish I could have one 😅 some day
I think you need to have a garage sale. I would fly to the UK from California just to grab some stuff.

sick bike 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

I put some 70s funk porno music on in the background while I watched this bike build. Perfection
Working those fox boy filmers? Great quality video!
Green 🤙🏼

Man, that was relaxing to watch haha. What tyre compound and sidewalls on the DHFs? Do you ever run inserts?
i think bernard should give one away as a prize... lol
love the top of trail build-up! you musta been stoooooooked! but which is more fun? the 27.5 mach 6 or the 29 firebird?

buddy you need a radio mic. love the vid.
What about the green pistachio fox 38?! It’d look bomb on the green firebird Bernard!

what camera did you use? some of the shots look pretty good .
Nah imagine your bouta go on the trails and you see a group of guys building a bike😂
Your next "Dream" should be about a COIL SHOCK!
Barney, what make and model is that tool box or is it a diy? Thank you.
Do you have an protection-foil on your bike?
What PSI/rebound you running in your fork/shock ??
🔥 🔥 🔥
Whats the tool box caled
how much psi did you run on your fork
Forest green is easily the best looking frame color, but those mustard color grips are an odd choice for this bike
Tidy it looks so light and nimble,a set of triples would look meaner
What width tyres do you run?
Hey Bernard,
Can I get an old bike of you?
Would mean a lot me!
Anyone know if that is a 'home made' tool box kit or if it can be bought?
The Bedwards ASMR channel 😂
27.5 or 29 ???
When are these being released in the UK?!
They're out now , I've just ordered mine today for delivery in October!
@@Manwhomountains where from dude?
They've got one in stock now but it's the orange. I'm willing to wait for that green , looks sick!

All black wheels would have been better i reckon
All black everything would have been better to be honest, none of the colors match up decently with that green frame. The video was good regardless.
Whats that green grease?

I don't have enough tools to do this at home.
Sick build. Can we get a bit more chesty please?
Can someone please explain to me how that is green?
It's like two-toned paint, looks different in different light. It's like silver with a green tint in it.
