- One of the best ways to experience Cuyahoga Valley National Park is by bike. The Towpath Trail weaves all the way through the national park following the Cuyahoga River. I began my ride at Rockside Station in Independence and rode south to the Botzum Trailhead in Akron. There’s beautiful scenery and wildlife to experience throughout the journey and plenty of places to stop.
The Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail is a 101-mile long bike and hike path stretching from Cleveland all the way to New Philadelphia. This section of the Towpath is one of the most scenic, passing through forest, fields, wetlands, marshes and small towns. Peninsula is a particularly nice stop with a Trail Mix park store for snacks or gifts. Winking Lizard's outdoor patio is another popular stop next to Century Cycles bike shop and rentals.
When the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is operational, they offer a Bike-Aboard ticket where you can bring your bike onto the train and ride back to where your trip began. This is a great option if you don't want to have to bike all 20 miles back to Rockside Station.
I hope you enjoy this ride on the best bike trail in Northeast Ohio. - John

Loved the video but what is that music?!? I know I've heard it before but can't place it. Driving me crazy!
Rented bike from Century and rode the towpath for 2hrs. It is nice workout with good scenery ! I loved the beaver marsh ...saw a huge crane and a water snake.
Awesome! Yes, Century Cycles is in the perfect location. Glad to hear you had a great ride! -John

Wow. Didn't know that I could bike so long in CVNP. I wonder if there are any bike rentals nearby
Due to COVID-19, the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is not operating during the summer of 2020, but it is expected to return before the end of the year. Check their website for updates if you'd like to use the train on your visit.
Asked about national park ranger today about the Train ride. She told that it will open on October 1st.
@@eversunnyguy That's right. The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is back! October 2020
@@clevelanddotcom Can't wait to take a ride to see beautiful fall colors !
Is the path slightly downhill going toward Lake Erie or away from it?
It's easier going toward Lake Erie as there will be a downhill grade for much of the ride from Cuyahoga Valley National Park to Cleveland. -John
They need to ban e-bikes they're so dangerous on the trail. You should be in a certain physical capacity to travel 15 miles an hour around other people on a bicycle
