Jim Shepard taught me as a snotty nosed😢 school kid . Wow! I’m so lucky I had those precious time with him, what a legend and what a genuine person , god bless you Jim from the bottom of my heart x
Many thanks to elkartian for posting these recordings of James Shepherd,he has always been my favourite bar none and it is such a treat to hear him again.Zelda might be the solo that everyone learns first, but James Shepherd for me is the only person to bring it alive so as you can imagine the ballerina dancing and moving around the stage.I still have all these LP's,but no means of playing them any more. You have made my day!
I am sure we will still be hearing about the world class cornet playing of Jim Shepherd in the future, I can guarantee that no one will ever be talking about Mathew Loud and his arrogant comments
David, which lad do you mean? If you mean David Daws, that was due to his SA upbringing, plus a very flexible embouchure. Then he was an enigma anyway.

Matthew Loud, I think you're hearing things. Jim Shepherd has perfect pitch!
Outstanding cornet player
I love this solo.but the first one I played was Zelda's stablemate Zanette. Anyone got a recording of that? I'd love to hear it again.
I LISTENED TO THE LAD FROM THE S A BAND AND I FELT HIS RENDERING WAS SO MUCH WARMER THAN SHEPHARD.BOTH VERY GOOD TO LISTEN TO!!

Thank you Matthew. Taken all these years for you to come along and put the rest of the world right on Jim's rendition of this. Well done !!!
