Taxi companies chose the Mercedes Benz 300D automobile, and they were a common sight in Germany. Reaching 400,000 or 800,000 miles with only minor mechanical issues was common with W123 (chassis codes, W123 is the saloon/sedan) they were also used as taxicabs. The Diesel was 5 cylinder.
