Ironically, it was Sky's missed 5 ball against Alcaide that swung the Cup to Europe. Europe was leading 8-7 and Sky was looking to go up 4-1 in the match and after playing a fantastic carom into the 7 ball, he blew the easy 5. Alcaide ended winning that match to give Europe a 9-7 lead and they never looked back. Had Skyler won, it would have been tied up 8-8 and who knows what happens from there.

Instead he CHOKED and the momentum shifted hard for Europe securing them victory. Sky’s TERRIBLE MISS will go down as the worst in Mosconi HISTORY
Skyler played best pool he has ever played... casuals cant even comprehend how borderline insane it was even try those shots.. im from europe but there was no player in my country so i was rootin for US cause of Earl, my wet dream was Earl winning the cup with some crazy shot
Earl just needed to win what he did... and... one other match... and if he did you could then not point to him as a weak point on the team. He really needed to beat Albin Ouschan because going 1 for 3 in doubles and 1 and 1 in singles for the guy arguably last on the team would have been huge for him having 2 points earned.
The kick Carom Shot by Shane was insane the gap between them tight pockets and hooked also played the 2 way, i wish the US would know how to captain a team.
I'm european and a pool player... Despite the rules and and everything Skyler deserve MVP title from what he did all along the competition. There is nothing to talk about it !
I wish you wouldn't have cut Sky off when he was explaining that beautiful carom to Jeremy (I think) where the nine just 'moseyed on over' into the pocket almost at the end of the video. "I knew it was there, I just had to get on it, ...". I don't know where he was going, maybe the English? But I would have liked to have heard the rest of it. Some of these shots were beyond belief. The most impressive to me were Shane's bank around a blocker at speed to an almost dead full ball carom to the nine. If I saw that, which I have doubts that I would have, executing it properly was nuts. The one were somebody (Alcaide IIRC) brought that cue around to the two, I think it was, on the close short rail down through one or two rails, barely avoiding the side scratch, through blockers covering almost the entire opposite side of the table concerned, threading the insanely tight available path, almost touching two of them, and at perfect speed. That requires ultimate skill and no small amount of 'luck' meaning breaking through that low percentage possibility, and the SPEED. It also incorporated so many different difficult to achieve requirements in one shot HOLY CRAP! A couple of those jumps, high loft to controlled bounces to not get ejected from the table, and that partial ball jump where the arc had to be kept so low over the blocker, short off the table, to that killer draw back to about where he started. Actually, practically ALL of them were nuts. No surprise several that shot several of them, SVB, Skyler, Filler, etc., but what did surprise me were to see so few from Jayson and Earl, to name two. I guess either they were controlling that rock accurately, or missing the 'trick shots' that resulted, or handed their partner some of that crap, or excellent placements to attempt those shots. Looking forward to seeing these whole matches, however many of them, later and next year.
Snooker fans tend to dismiss nine ball often saying how big the pockets are etc... What they don't get is the ability these guys have to see a shot and have the skill to actually play it. Nine ball rewards people who are willing to try the tough shot.
