Let us not spoil history by failing to point out the territorial disputes and wars and slaughter among the native tribes. It was not all roses and lilacs. That being said, the biggest atrocity was the lack of respect shown the natives...their culture, their religion, their language....and the absolute annihilation of their pride. Living on crap reservations at the largess of a cruel an inhumane govt. who blindly saw their deeds as being magnanimous and benevolent... housing the indigenous in crap housing , feeding them crap food and administering and robbing them of their way, a beautiful way....a travesty of biblical proportions. The Welfare State today is still destroying entire cultures. It is a failure beyond belief propped up by the political elite to retain power.....at the expense of the self determination and pride of a great people.
