This was fantastic! I can imagine this video being used by everyone considering and planning a trip on the TCT. One note is that during the summer months, this part of the state has something called an inversion layer. This is a thick build up of clouds over night lasting many hours to even the entire day. This means you will want a set of clothes to keep you warm from the chill in the air. It’s not as cold as a high elevation mountain trip but the humidity is equal to walking in fog. When the clouds burn off, it can then get quite warm so be ready to take off the outer layer and store it for the next morning.
Thank you! I hope it's helpful especially those who are looking to hike in the spring! Thank you for your tip about bringing warm clothing even in the summer months. This is something I wouldn't have thought of!
I watched the first three videos in your series in preparation for my TCT plans for the end of April. It was nice to see the campgrounds and get some info before my trip. I was lucky enough to have good weather so I figured I can pass along some of the things I learned to anyone reading this. This was the itin we chose to do. Day 1: San Pedro - Avalon (Early Catalina Express Ferry) Avalon - Blackjack Day 2: Blackjack - Two Harbors (Via little harbor) Day 3: TH - Parsons Landing Day4: Parsons Landing - TH TH - San Pedro (Late Catalina Express Ferry) Things to note: - Buying the TCT map on the Far Out app was the best decision I made for this trip. There is a lot of useful info regarding water sources, bathrooms, picnic benches, etc. - The most water I carried was 2.5 liters. The only stretch with no water fill-up was between TH and Parsons. - The corndog at the airport has to be the best corndog I've ever had in my life. - I would stay at Little Harbor if I had an extra day. Very beautiful campground. - There are warm showers in town of Two Harbors (2 dollars in quarters for 3 minutes). - Getting the 2 gallons of water and firewood delivered to Parsons is a must. The water carry would be brutal without this.
Thank you for adding this helpful info. I hope that you had better weather on your trip! I appreciate your perspective and insight, thank you for sharing!
