    👋 Anyone reading the comments about to have their surgery … let me explain my experience. ( I got them out 5 hours ago ) I WAS A NERVOUS WRECK before hand watching every video possible reading all experiences on reddit and comments on these videos from the good ones to the bad ones. I’ve been nervous since they told me last year they were coming in. It was a peice of CAKE for the people like me who have severe anxiety about medical stuff you will be just fine! I wasn’t worried about the recovery more so the surgery itself, and a little stressed about the IV ( i was put to sleep with IV sedation ) the IV was NOTHING me and the assistant were giggling and I was asking if I should watch him put it in or look away and he promised me it was nothing and maybe id enjoy watching it go in.. I looked away 😭 but it barley felt like anything, like a poke a tiny little prick. they put the thing on to check my blood pressure every 5 minutes and the thing on ur thumb along with some like patches they put on my lower side and chest. Sat there for about 30 minutes with the IV in my arm until the doctor was ready. He came in asked how I was lowered the chair down and put this thing on my neck to monitor my breathing I think he said,, and then he released THE GOOD ( the fluids into the IV ) it was a crazy experience.. like i was out but wasn’t ? all i last remember is seeing is the light and then within seconds it was done. I was so stressed for NOTHING. so glad I went with IV sedation because I didn’t feel a darn thing! 😂 and the loopyness afterwards ain’t all that bad either. I would definitely do it over again and take away all the stress from before because it was nothing.

    sedation can be a godsend regardless of patient age. my dad was one of a small handful of dentists in our area who offered iv sedation and it was a big selling point for anyone nervous about surgeries he performed.

      I just turned 30 last Sunday and I'm terrified of shots. I snapped both my ankles and had 3 surgeries. I set the heart monitor off. When I hady last ankle surgery. I had hives all over my body when I was a teenager. The nurse was mean. She yelled ROLL OVER. I was afraid. Then she grabs my leg drags me to the end of the hospital bed then she took the needle stabbed it into my hip. After that I got really I had to have a tooth removed April 6th 2022 my fear of needles is so bad I knew my tooth broke but I let it go which was stupid but the infection was to the point I could have died. I had to change my PCP because he lost my physical paperwork and I had to have it rescheduled. The Dr had to cut the top of my gum and there was so much puss I'm glad I got it removed. I had to be completely knocked out. I do plan to get a tooth that stays in and it's good for 50 years. I faint with blood work. My blood pressure drops. I keep telling the nurse every time I have surgery to sedate me so I stop getting sick. Could someone give me advice. I would appreciate it. I hope I don't sound rude. I promise I have no intention to sound like that. I apologize. My PCP has me on anxiety meds. Is there a way to have the hospital know ahead of time so I don't get sick? One time I set the heart monitor off they thought I was having a stroke. The nurse looked at me and showed me the nerve block shot. I immediately started freaking out. They had to sedate me 3 times. I already have complex PTSD because my dad abused me my mom and sisters and tried to kill us. Blow us up with dynamite. My dad died in 2016. It's a relief but I feel sad inside. My Dr was holding back tears. She lets me go in every month to make sure I'm ok. I have CRPS I had two spine surgeries. I had a spine implant put in. It's a pacemaker for the spine. The pain from crps hurts to the point I have been stuck in bed. I lost 40 pounds because when I stress I lose my appetite. Sorry for the long reply. My Dr wants me to go to a psychologist to talk to someone. I'm afraid to cry. My evil dad was a mentally unstable psychopath. He said crying a weakness? I'm afraid to confront 25 years of hell. He literally put up a 12 foot fence put garbage bags on the windows I wasn't allowed to see outside. I have family in South Carolina they offered me to move in with them. I'm not sure what to do. Could moving help as well? Thank you everyone. I hope you all have a great day :)

    What happen if the patient were to refuse to get the IV and not stick their hand out for Dr Baker?

      Hello! If a child was not able to cooperate for a cannula, we are able to offer inhalation sedation first, before the cannulation and this can sometimes help.

    What would happen if the patient began to cry and just say I don’t like it in my hand? Honestly the hand hurts could they try the arm if the patient were to ask? Nice way?

      Hello. Emla numbing cream can be applied to the area of cannulation to numb the skin. It needs to be covered with either a plaster covering or cling film can also be used.

      @@leagravedentalsedationclin768 Is inhalation sedation effective on older children? I generally see it used on younger children.

    • @leagravedentalsedationclin768
      @leagravedentalsedationclin768  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Zachary, inhalation sedation can be effective for people over 12 as well, it relaxes the patient and reduces anxiety. However, the patients are more aware of the treatment as compared to intravenous sedation.

    Okay, but why didn’t you just do the arm? Why did you just go straight to the hand? Nurses should always practice on both
