Amazing video! I also think (please correct me if I’m wrong) that the /æ/ sound is a brighter sound, pronounced with the tongue slightly higher and closer to the teeth, whereas the /ʌ/ sound is darker, with the tongue flattened and slightly retracted.
It makes things, by far much more difficult, the fact that each one pronounces those phonemes differently in different parts of the UK. Anyway, thanks 🙏 so much for a great lesson, dear teacher.
Great vid, as usual. Thanks a bunch for sharing! Americans also add HOT & COP to make matters even worse for us. Ms Liz, I'll take the opportunity to wish you & yours all the best in 2025. 🎉
Happy New Year, Liz! I have a question about the word 'funny.' In your video, the IPA transcription is ˈfʌ.ni, but in the Cambridge Dictionary, it's ˈfʌn.i. Why is there a difference? Which is the correct pronunciation?
Thanks ❤Happy New Year 🎉🎉
Thanks for this Liz..❤
