Kyle Wit actually I have always wondered where that sample comes from my life is a little more complete now that I know from when I first heard it till I die it will always move me
This is what biggie used to listen to when he was down livin in the hood and going through his "everyday struggles", his favorite song that he ever made
How You Know That He Was Listening To Dave Grusin's Original Track? He Was Probably Listening To Easy Mo Bee's Beat. People Say The Dumbest Shit Sometimes.
I bought Ready To Die back in September of 94. I heard Everyday Struggle and lost my mind, it instantly became my favorite song on the album because of the sample. I immediately went out to find the original song and I bought the album, Mountain Dance. Unbeknownst to me, I learned that it is one of the greatest jazz albums...EVER! I recommend this album to any music lover. 💯✌❤
I don't wanna live no more Sometimes I hear death knocking at my front door I'm living everyday like a hustle Another drug to juggle, another day, another struggle
This song is so smooth. Good music is universal. Transcends time, nationalities, age groups etc. When I was a kid growing up in the 80's and 90's we learned music appreciation. My parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles exposed us to all kinds of music from all eras. One minute one was listening to Mozart, the next James Brown, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, the list goes on. That is why we could recognize a sample in a rap song and know the original. It is my hope that ones that sampled paid the artist their just due. And the younger generation had the gumption to find out where it came from. Therefore expose a new generation to the one that preceded it............ I hate to keep saying this but, today's music is just lacking.
When I just wanna get away from the everyday struggles I play this in my car with my JL subs and Hertz mids and highs, JL XD amps.....talk about a natural high.....like I have no worries in the world....BEAUTIFUL....If it wasn't for sampling I might have gone to my grave never hearing this.
Blake Kersey Grusin did a lot of writing and arrangement for Mason from 1975-1977. He's credited on a lot of Mason's tracks, and Mason is credited on a whole bunch of Grusin's too lol. It seems like they were always working on something together for a few years there.
Trapezoid. Trap People look at you like yous the user/ Sellin drugs to all the losers, mad Buddha abuser/ But they don't know about the stress-filled days/ Baby on the way, mad bills to pay/ That's why you drink Tanqueray so you could reminisce/ And wish you wasn't livin so devilish
shit, I remember I was just like you Smoking blunts with my crew, flipping over 6 to 2s. Cause G.E.D, wasn't B.I.G I got P.A.I.D, that's why my moms hate me She was forced to kick me out, no doubt Then I figured out nicks went for 20 down South. Packed up my tools for my raw power moves. Glock nineteen for casket and flower moves.
Trapezoid. Trap For chumps tryna stop my flow/ And what they don't know will show in the autopsy/ Went to see Papi to cop me a brick/ Asked for some consignment, he wasn't tryna hear it/ Smoking mad Newports cause I'm due in court/ For an assault that I caught In Bridgeport, New York/ Catch me if you can like the gingerbread man/ You betta have your gat in hand, cause man!
This is simply the era where music was remarkable. I grew up listening to this and my father had a great influence in it. It might be jurassic but music back was something you can listen and relax. My father was a great fan of classical music and relaxing music. Just my take thanks for posting this remarkable song
I don’t wanna live no more Sometimes I hear death knockin at my front door I live everyday like a hustle Another drug juggle Another day another struggle.
Had no idea where that Biggie song was sampled on until I came across this original track in a 1987 Weather Channel Local Forecast video. Hip hop owes so much to classic samples from the 50s-90s.

A Very elegant composition of Dave Grusin. The instruments speak by themselves. Piano is the guide.
