    I think it’s awesome how you got the time lapse to take a picture so that you could see the extruder swinging back-and-forth in the background. That’s a real nice change compared to most other Time-lapse videos that you see. I really wish I could make time lapse of my prints, but I have trouble sourcing a affordable raspberry pi to use Octoprint

      I used a Raspberry Pi 3B+ that I had before the pandemics / chips shortage… I am planing on building a dedicated Timelapse Machine and it needs a Raspberry Pi 4 (I got a 65MP Cam for it) but I refuse to pay the price we see now!

      @@GeekDetour yes it’s absolutely ridiculous. I don’t know a whole lot about the pi stuff or coding or electronics and that whole side of the hobby. I’m super keen to learn though, I’d love to incorporate that kind of stuff into my prints, and makes. I’ve recently been teaching myself fusion 360 with the aid of some UA-cam teachers, specifically Paul mcwhorter has been a huge help. Still far from where I’d like to be but I’ve made pretty good progress considering when I first downloaded it I couldn’t figure anything at all out.

      Hi there! Thank you so much for your kind words - this particular video indeed makes me a bit sad: it was a bunch of work and many details taken into account (I had a spreadsheet to calculate the number of beats I wanted the print head to perform, in function to the height of each piece)… I made a different acceleration curve to make it look more “beating” than a senoidal curve… all the lighting, not to mention the camera motion system. Still trying to figure how to make it more interesting to “click”.

    • @GeekDetour
      @GeekDetour  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks Adrian! Do you really want to know?! Buckle-up:
      To make the hot end move together at the same beat as the music, first you need to:
      1. decide the music you are going to use (and know/count it’s bpm),
      2. know in advance how many layers you will print,
      3. decide how many beats (and measures from the song) your print will follow along in the video,
      4. and calculate the coordinates of a senoidal movement for the x-movement of the print head, and input the list of coordinates in OctoLapse.
      OctoLapse has some “stabilizing” moving options, but they almost never match the song you chose. You need to manually calculate the coordinates if you want to get a nice sync 🤨 Making this video was an insane amount of work. Not so sure when I will make another one like this!

    • @GeekDetour
      @GeekDetour  Рік тому +1

      Thanks! It still needs a LOT of refinement both in hardware as software… I will make a video specifically about it in the future. It is lightweight, has 3 axis (moves sideways, turn left-right and turns up-down) and as it is mounted on the X Gantry, it travels up-down as the Z-Axis of the printer moves (so, it would be a 4th axis). And the camera is, are you ready?, the Logitech C920 webcam 😁, well… with part of its structure striped.

    • @GeekDetour
