  • Joining us today is John Burke, author of "Imagine Heaven.” We're going to discuss near-death experiences, including one profound story of a Hindu man who met the Lord. We're also going to unpack the consistent order of common events in near-death experiences, the impact of free will on eternal destination, and a skeptic's take on NDEs. This is such a fascinating, inspiring conversation, and I trust you'll walk away from it intrigued and encouraged.

The popularity of NDE's is due to the internet, to discount the value of the Bible that has grown for millenia is what made pt barnum a rich man

The bible is just one of many examples of humanity's attempt to describe experiences that people have had through ndes or spiritually transformative experiences that have occurred throughout history in all cultures. . Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed, Krishna 🕊as well as Native cultures in regions throughout the world have tried to Unify humanity through their own experiences of the All Inclusive Love that connects us All. Unfortunately the bible having been reinterpreted, rewritten through man's filter of fear, control , hate, sin etc lost the message of Love and Unity that was meant to unite not separate humanity. I think we should respect the Truth that is inherent in all the faiths of the world. ❤🕊

You're too hung up on the Bible which has so much controversy. The NDE's shoots all that down. Sorry.

If you're truly interested in reading about an extraordinary NDE and what followed it, then I strongly recommend an autobiography titled 'Saved by the Light of the Buddha Within'. You'll never see life in the same light again...

Take ayahuasca/dmt and you’ll experience similar stuff. And as soon as you mentioned reading Bible ya lost me. Why Christian version of the concept of God ? Why not something like the deist version for example ? Or Hindu version of Brahman

If you actually read the New Testament of the Bible very closely and actually retain it. The way Jesus shows his love towards sinners. All his teachings is about loving others and leaving 99 sheep to find the 1 that strayed off. His love for everyone is the exact same love that every NDE explains. I don’t know much about other religions but I can say Jesus is the exact person NDE explains. The same type of love.

@@Busterbrowns you must be reading only Christian biased nde accounts. And ultimately , Jesus’s love was conditional. Not unconditional. Unconditional love is universal and eternal . This would eliminate being tossed into hellfire for not believing in the biblical deity .what kind of deity would command you to believe in him, love him and worship him or burn forever ? 🙋🏼‍♂️I know !… a wrathful jealous insecure one ….that doesn’t exist . I’m not rejecting the concept of God in and of itself . However , I reject particular interpretations of the concept of God, and one of which you’ve been immersed in and are emotionally attached to. The concept of God isn’t so narrow . Ultimately , “God” is unknowable . It’s impossible to know for certain if there is or isn’t a God. I’m all for it but just not Christianity nor any other man made religion which is all of them

@@bitofwizdomb7266 I respect your belief. I will disagree on the fact that God is insecure and jealous. Think of it like this. I’m a murderer who you just met and know that I am a murderer. The cops are looking for me and I ask to stay at your place to evade the cops. Are you going to let me stay at your house knowing that I have murdered innocent people? It’s the same kinda concept. If God knows of you but doesn’t have that relationship with you why would he let you in his kingdom? We sin against him every day, Jesus died for those sins but we have to still repent and try to follow his footsteps. He wants you to have that relationship with him. It’s more than just believing in God. Even the devil himself believe in God. We have free will to either reject him or accept and walk with him.

@@Busterbrowns yaweh says himself he is jealous and wrathful …and more than once .
You are referring to Christian doctrine and the belief that Jesus is your savior. Christianity is a philosophy/theology which encapsulates the idea that the all knowing yaweh knew Adam and Eve would disobey and then eventually sacrifice himself to himself to save us from himself because of rules he made himself. It makes zero sense 🤷🏼‍♂️
I make the distinction btwn the concept of God and the various interpretations of the concept of God. Ultimately , “God “ is unknowable. Neither you nor I nor your preacher or greatest philosopher on earth can know for 100% certain there is or isn’t a God. It’s impossible.
I’m for the concept of God. But to me , “God” is synonymous with nature /the universe. It’s impersonal. Not personal. Spiritually speaking, “God” is an ideal, an idea of perfection and something to strive to be .
The way I live my live is by striving to live an impeccable virtuous life and to lead it with love and kindness the best I can . And I do so not to please some deity but rather bc I have integrity and I strive to be a good person for the sake of being a good person.
I am self responsible and accountable for my choices and actions. I understand that I create my own “heaven or hell” each moment by the thoughts I think , the words I speak, and the actions I engage in. I shape my own next moment with my choices and actions. I genuinely practice honesty, truthfulness, respectfulness, fairness, moral justness and I treat people with decency and dignity . Every moment I live those principles, I am walking with “God”. I am a lamp unto myself . I do not need to buy into a savior to be “saved”. For some people , maybe they need that . But as for me , I am self responsible and accountable for my own “salvation”. There is no hell and hellfire and demons and devils etc . That’s all in your head, born of religious doctrine .
And btw What comes first, yaweh morality ?

People see in their NDE's what they believed in(or thought to not believe in for Atheists) in their life on earth. I guess one thing is always the same, people see a warm, bright light "spectral" being from another dimension and get overwhelmed by emotions. We know that the brain is overflowing with Melatonin when close to dying, this induces hallucinations and an intense feeling of satisfaction -at least that's what it looks like to us as the observer from the outside. One thing is always the same, regardless of belief, there seems to be a higher spectral being watching over us, you can call it Jesus, you can call it God, you can call it Allah or maybe Brahman. What I personally are more interested in though is how people with NDE describe hell, it's crazy to think that this light being "God" created such a place or did he? And if not, why is he allowing for something like that, that only serves out eternal punishment for everyone that is abandoned to this place to exist? If he is truly all-loving and almighty? I can see how the souls might have to live through hell to eventually return to God but it doesn't seem like they ever will, they are abandoned by God (because they abondoned God, pretty much).

to reply to this comment , a hallucination is something vivid that could never explain an NDE , and as the brain stops functioning it isnt able to create a lucid experience just based on melatonin , i could refute this point in more detail but ill suggest you just search it up and see for urself , as for the expectation , that s usually false too , everyone sees almost the same thing which for ur knowledge isnt jesus ro whatever , only 37% of nde's see JESUS , muslims also see reincarnation stuff and so on , NDE's confirms reincarnation not a particular religion + ok you maybe u are trying to explain the bright light or whatever but , how are u gonna explain the accurate OBE's people have , the veridical stuff which were later confirmed by professionals
