Man this game needs a remaster. Imagine how awesome the bosses, the orrery, dog god, malice herself, and death himself would look with graphics nowadays. The bosses look great and actually look good by today's standards too! Shame this game isn't as popular as it should be. Super underratdd.
@@roadkill_52 It is not really a matter of not appreciating it as it is, but trying to make it look how you feel it DESERVES to look. To make it look as good as it once made you feel Desiring a remaster is wanting to see something you love renewed.
Kind of tired of seeing remasters actually. Every game releasing is either a sequel, remaster or remake. Especially games from Japan. When have we actually got something new?
Bit of a fun fact:The original version that was planned was a dark "alice in wonderland" type game with the MC being a little girl instead of the teenager like in the game. There was even multiple gameplay segments for it recorded, and pretty fucked up images for a kids ps1(?) game. The reason for it being changed drastically, iirc,is because the devs went bankrupt and had to give it to another studio.
They didn't give it to another developer, they gave it to another publisher (Evolved Games for Europe, Mud Duck/ZeniMax Media for North America) after Sierra/Vivendi-Universal bailed on them around the same time Namco cancelled another game Argonaut were developing, Orchid. This, coupled with the commercial failures of other games such as i-Ninja led to Argonaut's collapse in October 2004, with the Edgware team (who made Malice into a releasable state) forming Rocksteady in nearby Kentish Town in December of the same year (2004). The Cambridge studio formed Ninja Theory as they were contractually obligated by Sony to release Heavenly Blade for the PS3.
I hope this game get a remaster or a revival one day, it’s has so much potential to be a full on series ( and possibly be Xbox mascot ), it’s definitely deserved some attention and hope that it will comeback in the future one day
I remember getting an Xbox with this game for it for Christmas when I was a kid. Unfortunately, as great as this game is, its development left it woefully incomplete.
Never heard about this game, but it looks very cute and interesting. Creator put lots of creativity and fresh ideas into this. This game are definitely uderrated.
Me bro, I just woke up at 3:30 am and this game was in my recommendations It was like a nostalgic invasion in my head I love this game, it needs a remake
Yeah, it just kind of falls short at doing everything it tries to. Not outright bad, just... meh. The jokes, mechanics, music, etc, are all just so...eh.
THANK YOU. I keep seeing these comments "ooooh such a classic!" When... It's REALLY not. Everything looked kinda boring and slow. And the boss fights! Those health bars took forever to drop. I, too, remember ads for this game as a kid, but I'm glad to have skipped over it.
@@wanderingdude777 Ok...I grew up with PS2 games, but played DOS games prior at a young age. I have never seen or heard about this game until now and I watched like the first 30 mins of the video, and I have this to say about the game. Your critiques are valid, that on a technical level this game is kinda slow and clunky, but I think that's oversimplifying things a bit. Its hard for me to explain why but something about this game feels...nostalgic. Like there's a certain charm its going for that it manages to land. So its not so much a classic because its a masterpiece but probably because its unique...I think? Like the music sells the atmosphere well...really well actually...like there's flow in the first area and the forest area sounds fairly good all things considered. Maybe I'm being too generous, but I don't think there's ever been a time in my life where I recognized a 10/10 game on first sight, even if I declare that in my head, it takes time to appreciate all the details of a game to then say its a masterpiece. I think that's why I'm hesitent to just throw this in the garbage and be done with it. There's a lot of interesting things this game is doing. Like its a little barebones yeah, but so were a lot of PS2 games. Its simplicity is what allows it to hold up. Like its not a high bar to clear don't get me wrong, but I'd much rather play this over any mediocre "modern" game and arguably even over most mediocre indie games (I really really like indie games but sometimes they have a tendency to demand a lot of your attention and not give you much in return, in that regard, I can appreciate that this game is something you can just play with a more chill mindset if that makes sense.). I hope that all makes sense! :O
This is one of those quintessential PS2 era rental games that is on the cusp of doing something interesting but misses the quality control to really bring it together, and in the process becomes forgettable in a way no worse game could be. Consoles of that era had a lot of low-to-mid-budget games like this. This game is clearly competently made on some level, and you can definitely tell what they're attempting here on some level, but it's so utterly devoid of anything memorable to latch onto that it's kind of doomed to remain a hazy memory to feel nostalgic about. No gameplay mechanic that really sets it apart, no super impressive presentation, no standout soundtrack or voice performance, and it's just so unpolished and vaguely slow. It just has zero sauce.
@@8Kazuja8 Basically what I was trying to say with my comment. There's clearly something here, and given that people miss these kinds of games its no wonder people are feeling nostalgic here, but it misses the mark on execution among just fleshing out its core ideas. I think when you get older though you start to value games like this more, since you know every good idea has some worth. Either that or you've already played most 10/10 games anyways so you start to dig deep enough into gaming's backlog till you find stuff like...well this! :O
I remember being a kid, seing this game box and saying "i don't wanna play as a girl, besides she reminds me to Amy Rose and i don't like her!" Now? i'm just curious to see what was this game about. Gotta admit, the begining doesn't help me a lot to understand WTH is going on After finish this, yeah i feel i didn't missed much, thanks for the playthrough

Unfortunately, as great as this game is, its development left it woefully incomplete.
The thumbnail was “Gremlin-girl & Clank.”

Holy hell! I had this! I remember being able to beat the entire game without dying. I also remember the final boss taking forever to beat.
Litterally just found out about this, and now i want it
The sound for when she picks up health sounds very... Vital.
Never played this game. Was randomly recommended it.
It’s like inspiring by time splitter saga.
Wow this brought back memories
It’s was like conker bad fur day.
I just remember seeing the cover art mentioning the game featuring the voices of No Doubt and saying "Ew." and putting the game back on the shelf.
This game is bashalicious!
1:06:09 The Clockwork Universe has a really cool skybox
That game is fun
I've never had contact with this game before, but her shirt reminds me of a boy's, I'd say they're both Funking and Cool Design's as well.
This where boyfriend got his shirt from?
What I can understand of the story is this is the Dark souls of platformers
She never seemed like much of a goddess until the end. Fun game though
Getting her head chomped off probably robbed her of most of her power I think...

this game reminds me of jak and daxter and jak 2 mixed together
It’s so similar of this game.

I feel like this game should have had a punk rock style soundtrack. I feel like it would have fit a bit better.
This reminds me of Vexx.
