I believe the dragon had an attack of 5 with poison (which is if you get wounded), so you only need a block of 5. Oh it had swift so yes you needed 10 to block.

My very first boardgame. Not the ultimate edition, but the core set with three expansions. The game's mathmatical depth and the combination of American style random and Euro boardgame calculation is very good balance. The designer himself is a genius. The game duration length is a often talked topics, the length will be reduced only after study the game and change the old game play (at least I studied and was mistaken that my notes and drawings and exploration probability is from a book......)

Nice play of the tutorial game. Seems like you were all ready good to challenge the solo conquest! Good job being ready for the paralyze. Didn’t see any issues you didn’t catch. Not sure if you forgot your defense skill when you assaulted the keep maybe?
Only thing I would say as you venture forth is to not be afraid of wounds especially if you’re going to level up or get some nice treasure from a dungeon, etc. There are a lot of ways to heal or discard wounds you’ll find. Also, get gold units as soon as possible as they are so much more powerful than silver units. Have fun!

At 5:40 you started more or less the attack on the second orc.
Instead of using the gold mana token for the extra movement. You could have used the move to go next to the orc and use "concentration" + "switfness" to attack the orc with 5 ranged damage.
For that you need the strong effect of "concentration" that could be triggered with the gold mana token (sadly there was no green in the mana source). I call this sniping :)
It works really well against a huge number of unfortified enemies.
    BTW:
I really like your videos. You got me hooked with your play sessions of Marvel Champions. :D

Thanks for sharing. I played MK a lot when it first came out. I got the board game because I played the tabletop game a lot with friends. The board game was challenging for me, because I was new to the 'newer' types of board games. I enjoyed the MK board game a lot, even solo. The game has a lot of fun and interesting mechanics. But, one thing that always frustrated me a lot was the limited movement. I mean, I could never really explore, etc. all that I wanted because I would spend half or more of my cards to simply move.

    • @DaletheCasualGamer

With my limited time with the game, seems like an adventure game with a quick clock ... so not much time to explore. And at a couple hours to play probably won't hit my table much, but I understand the love for this game! :)

I know you said it is not your favorite game because of it's length but i would enjoy if you could play another game :-) . Maybe the quick one with 2 day's and 2 nights ? think about it ;-)
btw I like the playtime tempo in your play session . you are quick and concise and it's facilitating our learning process. Do you edit you video or you just never think :-) ? I also got hook with your marvel champions playthrough .

@tadiran Thanks for watching! No promises on another play of this game, but yes I do edit out my "thinking" moments, and when I stop to check the rules. Sometimes, I don't finish the play in one sitting ... I'll start the game, something comes up and I walk away for a couple hours, or a couple days, and then come back and hope I remember what I was doing. :)
Glad you are enjoying Marvel Champions!

hey dale and everyone else. i have a question about this game. ive finally figured out how to play the game yesterday after 8 months of reading the rules over and over again lol. But theres one thing i dont understand. Thats is, how do you wind up exploring and laying down tiles? I mean i kind of get it by watching you play. BUt the game rules dont explain it well. Is the map supposed to wind up being layed out in a perfect wedge like in the pictures? or can it be a partial wedge? My thoughts are, what if a player winds up just going upwards the whole game in a straight line. Does the map then look like a long line on one side of the map then a clump of tiles on the rest of the map? Then the rules say theres only certain places the core tiles can be placed and i dont understand by how its worded where those places are.
Im just confused if theres some special hidden rule on how youre allowed to explore the map so it winds up being a perftect wedge or if you can literally just go wherever as long as its withing the coastline. Its so confusing. Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me some clarification on this. its literally the only aspect of the game i dont understand.

    • @DaletheCasualGamer

@XHuntinatorX This is a solid game! Plenty of choices, and variability with multiple plays and you just can't argue with it's popularity!! Glad you are enjoying it!! The only negative from me is a personal preference, for solo games, typically I prefer under an hour for game play, but totally understand the love for this game! :)

Do you like this game? I got it and spent like 8 hours playing it and I can't put my finger on it.. I just never enjoyed it or something. I wanted to like it, I'm looking for an adventure solo game, as an alternative to Marvel Champions which I love. This just wasn't it, I felt like all of my options were bad, and my hand was always clogged with wounds and I hated it

    • @DaletheCasualGamer
      @DaletheCasualGamer  4 роки тому

@Roman I enjoy the game ... but believe doing the other scenarios are going to be too long for my taste in solo games. I don't mind 2 - 4 hour games with a group, but solo ... I get tired of playing by myself after an hour. For solo adventure games, keep your eye open for the new Gloomhaven game. Looks to be a streamlined, and smaller, version of the original. I think it will be available to all in the coming weeks. :)

I'm kinda in the same boat. I love Marvel Champions and picked this up after hearing it was "the best" solo game. I've played this campaign twice solo and once with my son. It's okay, but I'd say I see it being more fun with other players. That's the issue for me as my children get older and have other things they want to do than tabletop with dad.

I dont understand what the dummy deck is for other than acting as a timer. Is it just a timer? Is there a way to actually win or lose the game playing solo? Why cant you dedicate the dummy player to hunting you? place a mini for them on the board and use the 3 cards drawn to move towards and battle your Mage Knight. ??? I dont own the game and would like to buy it so Ive been watching playthrough videos. Your video is very informative, thank you. Or does solo play always result in a win with you looking up how well you won??? I havent seen any solo gameplay were the player lost the game.
