Thank you. Falcons- a real symbol of power. "I am the guiding Light that illumineth the way. I am the royal Falcon on the arm of the Almighty. I unfold the drooping wings of every broken bird and start it on its flight." ~ Baha'u'llah

Thank you for the kind words Mohammed. Having been raised in the middle east, learned to speak arabic at 5 years old, it took a lot of courage and respect of the culture. I had not been back to the kingdom for many years, so it took a while for the language to come back when I returned after University. It was an amazing experience I will treasure for the rest of my life.

I would imagine that a Saker/Peregrine hybrid could potentially be an extremely versatile hunter... having both the instincts of ground and aerial hunting running through it.

Saker peregrine are nice but we much prefer gyr peregrine or gyr sakers because of the gyrs large size mixed with the instincts of the Saker or peregrine

Nice documentary. Thank you for sharing. Sakers are preferred by the Arabian falconers because they are done moulting by the begining of the hunting season. Northern migrant peregrines from the Arctic will not be done moulting before december. Therefore the juveniles (farkh) are preferred to the hagards peregrines (garnas).
Hagard peregrines have little value in traditionnal arab falconry. Their character is also very unstable as they have been migranting already.
The hagard in the video is probably a juvenile caught bird and moulted in captivity.

This documentary was very well put together. The narration, content and explaniations is wonderful and professionally done. (The narrator has a very nice, commanding voice) That said, I hate seeing these birds (any bird really) captured. They are too magnificent a creature to have it held in captivity. They should be free to fly and hunt for themselves. Again, great job on the informative documentary! Have you done more?

what so many people do not understand about falconry .......is the beneficial relationship falconers have with the birds....they are not "held in captivity" as a caged bird in a zoo is, you see no cages here.....the birds ARE free to fly away if they want to.....and ....sometimes they do....

When they first trapped and wrapped that Falcon (Saker I believe) They put her in so much stress. She was very distressed you could hear it; I didn't like that aspect and prefer the new world method that is far more gentle and welcoming, to build trust and a mutual respect.

Yet out cultures and traditions run deeper in our blood that's why we don't want anyone harming one inch of a peaceful place like that. In the desert many strong man have came to us and in this same desert many beautiful women were alive. God bless the land of Musliams where ever they are. Amen

Thanks for the comment. After Effects just released a new version that allows detail preserving upscale. It allows upscaling all the way to 4K. When I get some free time, I'm going to run some tests with this documentary and see how it looks. I'll repost the video in the higher frame size if it enhances it enough.

There's No way falconry started out as an efficient means of food production the Sumerians and the cultured Asians (China) would of been the first to of experienced this sport to believe otherwise is sheer stupidity

it did start out as a way to catch food originally, then is turned into a sport/rich person's hobby, today in america it is a conservation effort while in say britain it is a hobby, other parts of the world it is for blood sport. some maybe even in some it is still an effective way of hunting.
