Beautiful. In the figures at the foreground with their backs turned, I can see a Byzantine influence here. Giotto has often struck me as a sort of 'bookend' from the earliest Christian representations of Christ and the various stages of His life, to the Renaissance.
I was quite confused at first, because i thought i already watched this video recently, but i found out it was previous version of this Arena Chapel series (also has 4 parts). Nevertheless , thank you for beautiful video.
In this fresco, Giotto moves out of Byzantine style completely. Scene ua-cam.com/video/pM5zCDw8qsE/v-deo.html is wonderful, a masterpiece of highest order... I wouldn't call this style naturalism, more like psychological realism
There is also great emotion in Byzantine art, compare the Giotto with the Lamentation fresco in northern crossarm of the naos of Saint Panteleimon, Nerezi from 1164. See for example: flic.kr/p/2jNTbT5 or see our essay here: smarthistory.org/byzantine-frescoes-nerezi/

Yes, we edited the audio, added new high resolution photographs we took last year, and generally updated the video.
