The design of Lamy pens are quite minimalistic other than having different colors. Adding some engraving (should be full body instead of just one side) and jacking up the price makes no sense.
I was so disappointed. You have no idea. They could've leveled it up a little bit. But thank you for watching! That means a lot! I hope you subscribed ;)
Hey…I will confess that I am inveterate Harry Potter fan. Let’s be fair… this is just an AL Star with the licensing from Warner Bros. I have half a dozen AL Stars and they are among my favourite pen. Here in Australia the AL Star is AUD $60 and the Harry Potter is AUD$85. Purely an emotional buy… did not get the full set… just wanted the Gryfffindor… so I got it…. Also added a 14k Medium gold nib to it and use Robert Oster Aussie Brown ink and love it. Was it worth the money? No… not even close…….was it a fun buy… YES ABSOLUTELY!
I totally agree! Believe it or not, I still have it. I haven't inked it yet, but I chose to keep it because, just like you, I am a huge HP fan too! Thank you for watching!!!
I have 11 Lamy’s and when I saw those pen had come out I looked at them, I like the green one, and kept going. Very nice pens, just don’t want anymore. It’s called a grip 😊 and from the over head view those two pens are a smidge different. The one on the right has a bit more yellow. Thanks for sharing love.
Well with these pens I would have 11 Lamy’s too but I don’t know I’m still on the fence. It’s still sitting on my kitchen table. Thank you for watching!!!
I got Ravenclaw first try lol! I was not even intrigued by this set, but I know fans may like this set or the pens. The pricing is quite ridiculous for these pens now that I'm further into my FP journey. But money is relative xD Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these Harry Potter FPs. I just donated all my old harry potter books from 20+ years ago. Lol. Have to make room for current obsessions and future collections!
This is what happens when you shop at 5:30am! Never again! But yeah, I embraced me being a Hufflepuff. It is what it is. And same goes with the pens. I might regift it or sell it. I’m still deciding.
Potentially the Ravenclaw is Aquatic and the Slytherin is Sage? They are all released in almost the same time frame.. and I doubt it is worth it for them to change color nuances that are so similar.. So if you like the colors but wish for a more minimalist design I guess you can go this route..
i'm thinking of buying the slytherin and the hufflepuff. usually, i prefer ravenclaw house over the hufflepuff, but the blue color on this pen is too ordinary, and the yellow color on the pen is gorgeous. but then, i asked fountain pen community about the cap sealing quality, and they say, it's not that great. basically, the ink nib will go dry if pen is inked but not used in several days (depending on the ink). granted, that the solution is as simple as wetting the nib with a drop of water, but...yeah not gonna spend that much money on it. i have a few lamy dupes that works just fine though not to crazy about the color.
So far, I have no issues with my other Lamy’s and I don’t even use it that often. Truth be told, I’m more of TWSBI guy. The Hufflepuff definitely is my favorite. I haven’t inked them up yet because I’m really considering selling them. We’ll see. Thank you for watching btw! That means a lot!
Thanks for the harsh reality. I am a big HP fan, but I really can’t justify the price after taking a closer look. I think I will buy a Lamy gold nib instead.
@@papyrologismsI am missing Slytherin. I saw a few listed. Some places are sold out, some places have plenty, and some places are asking crazy prices. I have to figure out how much I am willing to pay, and be guided by that.
I know. Im on Facebook Fountain pen groups just venting away too! Lamy could've done better, seriously. At least throw in a cartridge or a free ink. I would've been ok with that-ish ;) Hahaha! I know it sounds like begging but if you liked the video, I hope you subscribe ;)
I also like the Slytherin pen best and was on the verge of buying it when it was suddenly sold out everywhere and people offered it on the secondary market for double the price. I mean… WHAT ? 😂 Thanks, but no thanks… 😅
I’ve seen some sites that are selling them individually. I wish I did that! That Ravenclaw had me cursing up a storm in my apartment. 😂😂 thank you for watching!!!
Would buy it, did buy it, glad I bought it, would buy it again if I had it to do over :) A normal AL pen goes for around $40 pens, maybe a little less but let's call it $160 for four pens. The HP sets are selling for $180 at most places so you're paying an extra $5 - $6 a pen for the HP pens. If you're a HP fan that seems a reasonable deal to me, considering the laser engraving and that they have to pay licensing. But if you're not a big fan of HP or the AL pens I'd agree this set is a pass. I'm just glad they didn't come out with a HP themed set of the 2000 pens, because I'd be buying that in a heartbeat. I've used a 2000 since '79. It's still my favorite pen, for me it "just fits".
One day I have get into the 2000's. I'm more of a Twsbi than a Lamy guy, honestly. I only got this because it's HP. But I did hear the 2000's are divine to write with! Thank you for watching!
@@papyrologisms The 2000's are a love it or hate it pen. For me as I said it fits. I've owned or used other pens, some costing a fair bit more. But I always come back to the 2000. But I don't recommend pens including the 2000. It's always such a personal decision :)
I was just going to buy this set and your video saved me $$$$. Omg thank god it came up on my feed.
Glad I could help! Thank you for watching!
